  1. I have a feeling we will know his fate soon after the draft. I wouldn't be surprised that we pick him up for vet. minimum to compete against ?????.....whomever we get.
  2. um.....don't you think that if he was as good as he appears, he would be talked up a fair bit more than he is. I have no direct opinion either way.....except that logic would dictate that if he is that good, he would be regularly placed inside the top 6 as a can't miss prospect. Kiper actually has him as the 5th best WR in the draft......scouts inc. has him as the #14th best talent......etc, etc, etc. Not that I place definitive stock in the 'experts' opinions but..... Have you ever considered the concept that you may be a bit mistaken on his overall appeal as a WR?
  3. I thought these words needed to be seen again. Maybe upon a second viewing they may be comprehended....probably not though.
  4. I'm with the Dean on this one. Sure WM was no model citizen for a player....but he was certainly no TO either. "Hell" was over-stating the situation. Obviously he did enough that Marv & Co. considered him expendable.....but it's not like sky was falling or anything.
  5. Irony......that's like coppery or silvery isn't it? I don't see how being similar to a type of metal has anything to do with Willis McGahee or his agent. You guys never seem to make as much sense to me as when I'm making sense to myself. If only you could all stop talking about things I'm not interested in & start talking about things that I am interested in. Hell, nobody even asks me what it is I'm interested in in the first place....It's like none of you care! Well....I don't care if you care or don't care....or if you make sense or don't make sense....or start threads about things I'm interested in caring about whether they make sense or don't....or not. So there
  6. Assuming the Browns(#3) will draft him....& they will acquiesce to trade down with us.....according to the standard trade value chart we would have to give up 1000 points worth. #3 = 2200 #12 = 1200. That means our 2nd round(#43)....470 points, our 3rd round(#74)....220 points, our new 3rd round(#92)....132 points, our 4th round(#107)....80 points, our 6th round(#169)....24 points....etc. Basically according to the trade value chart, we would have to trade every pick we have this year(& some) to jump from the #12 to the #3 spot in the draft. I cannot see us with Peterson after the draft......waaaaaay too costly.
  7. I'm not being funny here....but.....if Ginn is as good as what is being put forward by some in this thread.....why is Calvin Johnson considered the sure fire best WR in this draft? Surely if Ginn is that good, Johnson must be the best ever.
  8. Everything I've read on him suggests he is a perfect fit for the cover-2 D......but perhaps only a decent LB in a different scheme. I would think if this is the case, that would be absolutely perfect for us. Hopefully there will be far less interest in him by other teams.....Marv bides his time......and swoops in after a few weeks of CJ sweating it out to get him at a very reasonable price......and he then goes on to multiple pro-bowls for us. PERFECT!!!! Could be total wishful thinking on my part though.
  9. Have we actually had a hit at a skill position since we drafted Moulds? At QB we haven't.....hopefully JPL At RB we have had Smith, Henry & McGahee.....non of which turned out to be true studs. At WR we have had Evans....who isn't up for contract yet. TE? The only situation that resembles what you are talking about is the CB position. I've pointed out before......the reason we are not in the playoffs is not because we let one(or two) top CBs go that we drafted & didn't want to pay the money to keep....that is just a couple of players. The reason is we couldn't acquire a top QB.....a top LT.....a top OL.....a top RB.....a top DE Basically, had we 'hit' with Rob Johnson, Mike Williams.......& busted on Antoine Winfield & Nate Clements, this team would have been looking at playoffs earlier. Your point is quite valid on re-signing first round picks.....basically they have all been busts apart from the CBs. Since Moulds.......Smith, Johnson, Winfield, Flowers, Clements, Williams, Bledsoe, McGahee. It is the ones in bold that have cost us more than the 2 not in bold.
  10. The reason teams use multiple first round picks on any given area in a short(ish) span is usually due to those picks not panning out. If you draft a QB high in the first.....& he busts....4-5 years later you are probably doing it again. In our case with RB, it can't be a philosophy(new regimes 2nd year)......so it is just how it is. Where a team is deficient it will use it's resources(i.e. draft) to improve.....history of where resources are used is only relevant to the fans(& their reactions). I agree that in the recent past we should have drafted more OLmen.......but this draft has to be looked at in regards to the now.....we have to ignore history & draft for what suits todays team. If JPL had not improved, we would be (understandably) looking at using resources on QB again. That's just how it goes. BTW, Indy drafted Edge because they lost Faulk which was well before they had everything in place. They drafted Adai because they lost Edge. There is a team building philosophy of getting the RB/WR/QB stars & then building your team. I'm not saying I think that the best way to go but.....Indy basically followed it......as did TD for us. Worked for Indy.....not for us(yet).
  11. I'm basically with you on this one. It has the potential to be an embarrassing signing for Marv & Co.......time will tell but obviously they believe he will get the job done. Only thing we can do is wait & see. Fingers crossed he will be a solid starter for us for years to come.
  12. It makes sense though. All of us 'fans' have individual opinions & most think that their opinion is the only valid one......therefore, whatever happens there will always be a number of posters whinging & complaining that the sky is falling. I'm just happy we got one of the top OGs in FA.
  13. I've got an idea......how about we use WM behind the new improved OL......he performs much better.....we franchise him next year & get a 1st round pick for him? Why must we get rid of him now? At least we know he can basically get the job done. 50% of all 1st round RBs(including top 10) don't pan out for the team that drafts them......why does everyone assume that drafting McGahees replacement is as simple as using your 1st round pick(or even second)? Worst case scenario.....we trade WM for a 3rd. Draft one of the "can't miss" RBs in the 1st who does not perform(as 50% don't).....& the 3rd round pick is a bust as well(as are....70+%?)......and we ride the slowing ATrain into the future. Just some thoughts.
  14. I just have to say that I love the way this board comes alive at the start of FA. Yesterday......booooooring. Today......zing.....& we're off. I'm looking forwards to a great off-season reading/discussing/debating/arguing/abusing/congratulating everything Bills with you guys.
  15. Shhhh.....I was hoping that by saying that that he would tone down his aggression(particularly that parrot thing he keeps parroting). Now you've stuffed it.....he'll never believe that I think he may just well have a great brain. Oh well.
  16. You know LaDairis......you do yourself a disservice. Some of what you say might be worth listening to & taking on board.....unfortunately....your abrasive, insulting, opinionated, abusive, aggressive, know-it-all attitude leads myself....& I'm very sure many others.....to totally ignore what you have to say. Oh well, another great brain lost down the toilet due to bad personality.
  17. Now hang on............give me a minute to figure this..........was it 4???? I factored into the equation that Sunday = beer......& beer = fewer apples. It was 3 or 4. Had to be. Am I right? Do I win a prize?
  18. ssssssshhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh.
  19. That's BS! Last season, there were all the doom & gloom merchants saying "no way will we improve"...."we will be lucky to win 3 games"....."JPL is a loser"....."Evans can't be a #1WR"......"we're gonna be the worst in the league"......"Clements is not a good CB"......"the draft was terrible, we'll be lucky to get 1 starter out of it".......etc, etc, etc None of those things ended up being right.
  20. Anybody know if he can play OG? From the sounds of things he is better suited to OG than OT. Dockery at LOG, Walker at ROG? If not, who will be ROG?
  21. Total busts can be found in the top 10 of every draft.....in fact 50% of the top 10. HOFer can be found in the 4th+ rounds of many drafts. You really need to look at the draft in perspective. If Whitner becomes a "borderline Pro Bowl player", that will be above the curve.......therefore a smart pick. You may also be wrong.....he may regress & be a bust or....who knows.....may improve to become an all-pro.
  22. Honestly, I don't understand where you equate a win with $10mil. Many teams spend up close to the cap & come away with far less wins.....or spend less & end up with more. The only thing you can say is that spending up to the average amount will net the average amount of wins(8). I understand exactly what it is you are saying & agree with the principle but $$$$$ don't buy 'wins'. I agree we should not limit ourselves with the monies when we are on the verge but spending the money will not get us over the edge unless the players we spend the money on live up to the money spent. There is no point spending on the best RB in FA if the OL will not be able to open up holes for him(see Arizona/Edge). There is no point spending on the best pass catching TE if he will mainly be used as a blocker. There is no point spending on one of the best man-cover CBs if he will be asked to play zone more than most teams will ask. Basically......it's not how much money we spend.....but how well we spend the money. *not limiting the money is the main point though*
  23. Here's that myth again..... Sapp is 6'2" & 300lbs If we were to draft him today, half the board would be screaming "We need a BIG run stuffing DT, not another small quick one."
  24. For the Cover-2.....more specifically, the Tampa-2? Where did you come up with that idea?
