Aaron Schobel's disappearing act yesterday
Dibs replied to Simon's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Ironic that many Bills fans ignored Schobels sack numbers in regards to rating him(when he was consistently getting them).....and are now complaining that he isn't getting many sacks(even though he is performing at a high level in the areas they used to complain about). -

I find it interesting that there seems to be greater early success in the more recent times. Here's to TE not only joining the 2nd year 10+ wins group......but that new group formed not so long back.....the 2nd year QB superbowl wining group.

Very impressive defensive stat for the Bills

Seems to me Senator that you have formed a crusade which was kick started by a couple of other posters with their own(opposite) crusade.....who are thankfully giving it a rest now. Crusades are bad m'kay. -
I was quite surprised when they signed Anderson to such a high priced deal after one reasonable year.....particularly since they drafted Quinn in the 1st the year prior. FWIW Anderson led his team to victory over only 1 winning team last year(Seahawks).....and only 1 50-50 team(Texans). Of their other 8 wins 6 were against 5 wins or less teams(5,5,5,4,3,1). I thought they(& Anderson) were a bit over-rated. Mind you.....the Bills win record looked even worst than the Browns

That's right......our opponents would be 3-3 at this point had we not played them.

IF the Bills were to actually make it to and win the SB

Anyone else love the Whitner late hit on Higgins?

I can't make a personal assessment of DW since I really don't get to watch the games much.....but.... Most analysts have rated DW in the top 15 of all safeties since his rookie season......and that is after the #8 selection was universally lambasted.....and he has been playing not only for Buffalo but on a generally garbage D. Thats out of 64+ safeties not just the SSs. If the overall football world thinks he's pretty good, I'll go with that. He's obviously not upper echelon.....but a liability???? -

Only in response to posts I've seen saying that coming from behind etc just hasn't happened in recent years. JP has had a few good games.......he has shown some good things. In 2006 many of us had high hopes for him mainly based on those two performances. He may well never make it as a quality starter......but that shouldn't erase the good games and decent year he had.

At a guess I'd say he certainly has met reasonable expectations.....actually at a guess I'd say he has performed above reasonable expectations. It's a bit of a bugbear of mine(you may have noticed) that 'expectations' by fans(and media) for draft picks generally are way too high. Let's look at what one can reasonably expect from the #36 draft pick(WRs) From 1997-2005....WRs picked between #24-#48.....bold better than Reed.....red worse. (The grading is probably fraught with errors but should give a reasonable outlook on what is to be expected from a draft pick). (25)Freddie Mitchell (27)Rae Carruth (27)Roddy White (29)R. Jay Soward (29)Michael Jenkins (30)Marcus Nash (30)Reggie Wayne (31)Rashaun Woods (32)Jerome Pathon (32)Kevin Johnson (32)Dennis Northcutt (33)Quincy Morgan (33)Jabar Gaffney (34)Jacquez Green (35)Reggie Brown (36)Todd Pinkston (36)Chad Johnson (39)Mark Bradley (41)Robert Ferguson (42)Patrick Johnson (44)Taylor Jacobs (45)Bethel Johnson (46)Joey Kent (46)Tim Carter (47)Kevin Lockett (47)Jerry Porter (47)Andre Davis (48)Reche Caldwell Looking at that list I'd say he certainly has met every reasonable expectations relating to his drafted position. ......and a quick look at all those drafted #23 and above (2)Charles Rogers (3)Andre Johnson (3)Larry Fitzgerald (3)Braylon Edwards (4)Peter Warrick (6)Torry Holt (7)Ike Hilliard (7)Roy Williams (7)Troy Williamson (8)David Boston (8)Plaxico Burress (8)David Terrell (9)Koren Robinson (9)Reggie Williams (10)Travis Taylor (10)Mike Williams (13)Troy Edwards (13)Donte Stallworth (13)Lee Evans (15)Yatil Green (15)Rod Gardner (15)Michael Clayton (16)Reidel Anthony (16)Kevin Dyson (16)Santana Moss (17)Bryant Johnson (19)Ashley Lelie (20)Javon Walker (21)Randy Moss (21)Sylvester Morris (21)Matt Jones (22)Mark Clayton

That's a load of bollocks. Year 3 of his career(including injury rookie year) he was a 16 game starter in 2006......there were many games(6) where he both fumbled and threw interceptions(9 ints & 10 fumbles in those 6 games). To keep things balanced though.....in response to all of the "JP could never do that" type comments......weeks 11 & 12 in 2006 saw JP orchestrate 2 4th quarter wins.

I'm thinking that Peter's hold out may well end up helping the team for the future. If he does indeed take till game 7 to reach his top 3 form again then there is a good chance he does not make the probowl this season. That would surely effect the size of his new contract(I have no doubts he will have his contract re-done for next year). Had he not held out & come out at all-pro form in week 1.....finishing the season as probowl starter......his new contract would have been league leading. As it looks now.....even if he picks up his game in the next few weeks he will most likely earn a good $1+ mil less per season in the future......thus leaving the team with more cap room to pay(and keep) other good players. It's just as well we have managed to win the games(so far) where he has been below his best form.

......but the full frontal of Kelly Macdonald was nice Awesome movie too.

Not really. You constantly come across so full of yourself that since people know you can't resist it.....they bring up the one thing they know will make you look like a fool(which in regards to King & Justin you do).

Something just occured to me about the SD/DEN game
Dibs replied to PromoTheRobot's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Thanks Nanker. It's an interesting concept......though from memory during OT the team that loses the coin toss wins 55% of the time....nobody would elect to kick off though. Personally I think I'd only ever go for it when my team was actually being well outperformed on the field and I was lucky to be that close to the win. In that situation a 50-50 on a 2pter would be better odds than trying to go down the field and score. -
Maybe. During the SEA game the two attempts(and fails) were in the very first drive(in fact very first 3rd down).....and the very last drive(in fact the very last 3rd down). I think at this point it perhaps reasonable to view those as possibly not the norm. The first drive of the new season everyone is potentially rusty & finding their rhythm......the last was obviously going to be a run due to situation and made no difference to the game either way. The 3rd & short we converted into a 1st down against the Jags was at a crucial time in the game.....down 10-16....around midfield....under 6 mins left in game. I just don't think one can draw conclusions at this point in regards to this since there has not been enough attempts to show any real trend. We may well have troubles(evident by failing twice against SEA)......but we may well end up being decent/good(evident by succeeding when it counted most against JAX).

Have you got a link? I can't find the article & I'm very interested to read about the stats. -
Though the SEA game saw 2 3rd & short situations fail(1 in the first drive & 1 in the last).....against JAX we did fine in 3rd & short converting our one attempt. On top of that, of the 6 other 3rd & short yardage situations in the two games we got the 1st down by QB(penalty included) 5 times. Total 1st downs from 3rd & short......6 of 9....67% In comparison to our opponents over 2 games...... The one 3rd & short run attempt against us failed. On top of that, of the 6 other 3rd & short yardage situations in the two games they got the 1st down by QB(penalty included) 4 times. Total 1st downs from 3rd & short......4 of 7....57%
