  1. This was exactly my first reaction.....and then I thought, "Hang on, the joke is still on us isn't it?"
  2. Are you really that worked up in having to win an argument on the internet that your ability to comprehend English diminishes....or is this just normal for you? "A Small number of times" This refers to the fact that at the moment Spiller is getting the ball only a small number of times per game compared to the normal running back in the league.....and the original poster was saying that this small number (12-15) was justified. The original poster never said that we should be using Spiller less than what we have been.....AND I NEVER STATED THAT HE HAD DONE SO!!!! Please.....either learn to comprehend what people are writing or cease posting on TBD.
  3. Why are we whispering?
  4. Wow!!! You really don't like reading peoples posts do you? I acknowledged that the line was good. I mearly stated that the fact that we have great RB's would help with the number crunching that takes place in the formula provided in the link to determine the ranking.
  5. And nowhere did I say or even imply that it said to use Spiller less. (and you accused me of not reading a post lol) The premise of the original post was to say that Spiller has been getting the ball less than many want.....and that it is justified. In regards to the illogical point... Firstly, Spiller is regularly setting up in the shotgun formation(as is FJ)....as well as the I-Form....and he seems to be very productive out of both. If teams can't handle him when he is on the field for half the plays, what logic is there to think that they'll start getting better at handling him over an entire game? Secondly.....using the logic put forward, why wouldn't opposing teams just swarm to any RB we line up in the I-Form? If it supposedly is going to reduce the effectiveness of Spiller with no repercussions against the defense since we "are not consistently capable of beating you with passes downfield".....why wouldn't that tactic work even better against a lesser RB? Simplified, the argument put forward in post #1 is that Spiller is so dynamic that teams will focus solely upon him....therefore we are better off only using him sparingly. You'll have to forgive me. When you said.... "You can't ground and pound 25 times a game. You have to find unique ways to get him the ball in space. Because you can't come up with 25 unique ways per week to get him the ball (your entire offense would be gimmick based), he gets 12-15 touches." ....you stated 25 ground and pounds and also 25 unique ways to get him the ball....talking about the same thing. My mistake I guess
  6. Though I agree that our OL is one of the better areas on our team, I would say that the quality and ability of our running backs as well as the offensive scheme might help us out in regards to the formula used in the link. There are many plays where Spiller has no holes to run through and turns a 2 yard loss into a 10+ yard gain.
  7. You didn't list the Houston stats....so I'll just work with the NE stats. In NE Spiller rushed: 5 times out of shotgun for 26 yards (5.2 yds/attempt). 4 times not from shotgun for 44 yards (11 yds/attempt). What was the point you were making? Nicely argued.
  8. Is anybody saying that he is "the" problem with this team? I've heard many say that he is "a" problem with this team.....do you disagree with that?
  9. You don't think perhaps that the talent of the QB has something to do with their ability to be good? Had any of our discarded QBs gone on to be even mediocre in other teams I would give your point some credence. As it is I disagree with the concept that every HC, OC, and QB Coach we have had in the last decade have ruined every QB to walk though our doors. Essentially some bad teams with bad GMs & Coaches still have very good QBs....and still(therefore?) make the playoffs. Blame the organization(Ralph) for not getting better Talent Scouts/Assessors if you like....that would IMO be a better argument as to why we haven't had any real talent at QB in over a decade.
  10. .....and if they'd have score a TD on one of those 2 FGs(or scored on the 3&Out) we wouldn't have had a chance to win in the last drive. What's your point?
  11. In the entire history of the franchise we got to 4 straight Super Bowls. The thread is about the common denominator since 1999. The one that was subtly mentioned in the opening post is obviously true....the owner has been the same over that period of time. The other major common denominators that I see is: 1. The lack of a long term competent QB. Who know? Perhaps with a good QB we might well have made the playoffs in the last decade.
  12. Let me see if I understand this logic..... Spiller is such a potent weapon on Offense....so much so that the entire Defense focuses on him.....therfore he should only be on the field a small number of times. Got it!!!
  13. Sigh. I said I didn't want to defend them as they have been terrible. The "but" in the context that I gave lead to me communicating that I was however defending them. Hence my point. A horrible defense that plays well above what they have shown to be their standard ability is perhaps showing heart and to lambast them for not showing heart directly after the event in which they potentially showed heart is out of place......hence me having to defend our horrible D. You do realize that I called them a terrible defense in my opening line don't you?
  14. I don't want to be defending our D as they have been terrible.....but.... The Patriots last 3 drives went FG, 3 & Out, and FG against the #1 team in yards & scoring. IMHO that is a huge improvement from where we have been recently and perhaps this week is not the week to talk about the D having no heart.
  15. Actually, since game 4 where both Spiller and FJ have been healthy..... Spiller Attempts: 8, 7, 12, 12, 6, 9 (9 attempts per game average) (He is getting 6-12 touches per game) Jackson Attempts: 13, 9, 16, 9, 6, 16 (11.5 attempts per game average) (He is getting 6-16 touches per game) 6-12 is a lot less than your stated(assumed?) 12-15......does this mean you will rethink your position on that we are using Spiller correctly? FWIW, I believe Spiller should be getting 15-25 attempts/game......and FJ should be getting 5-15 attempts/game(which he is getting already).
  16. Not that it effects the issue(doesn't change the percent difference) but you forgot the sack numbers(pass attempts). With the sack numbers added you get Pats: 46 pass - 25 run (65% - 35%) Titans: 44 pass - 13 run (77% - 23%) FWIW (Couldn't convert QB runs into pass attempts) League Average Pass Attempts/Game = 35.2(37.4 with sacks)(58%) League Average Rush Attempts/Game = 26.8(42%)
  17. Is there anyone who is saying that Fitz is "the" problem on the team........or that getting a better QB will solve all of the teams problems? Unfortunately, Fitz is one of the worse QBs in the league. I don't want him to be as he is smart, tough and has many qualities that I admire.....but that doesn't change the fact that there possibly wouldn't be one team in the league that would prefer him to their own starting QB. In a league where SBs are typically won by good to great QBs, not having one means that no matter how much better the rest of the team and coaching gets, the chances that we win a SB are minute.
  18. Honestly.....how good is Spiller?
  19. Not when it's against the Patriots.
  20. Does Fitz every throw the ball in front of the receivers???
  21. I know this is a smack talk thread.....but I've gotta say....come back any time you want J-E-T-S. Who'd a thunk it? A Jest fan that actually value adds to TBD.
  22. WOW! He's seriously gonna put a player with no starts whom he cut earlier this year as a captain? I wonder if they'll have the guts to start him?
  23. 34-26 Bills
  24. When I was young and stupid I did. I was trying to light a petrol trail and it simply wouldn't light with a match or cigarette thrown into it. Though I'm sure it wouldn't ignite.....I still never smoke around a fuel station.
  25. From what I know....you are spot on. Mobile phones have zero chance of causing fire/explosion at a fuel station. In the last few years over here they have removed the "No using phone" signs. Furthermore(and sorry to "jboyst62" for this)....as far as I'm aware, cigarettes and matches are not a problem around gasoline unless there is a major concentrated build up of fumes(like in an enclosed area). If you throw a match or a cigarette onto a pool of gasoline....they go out. There is a chance that I am wrong on this....but I'm fairly sure it is correct.
