  1. is this the wrong time to point out that no NFL Head Coach has won the Super Bowl for two different teams? Just saying.
  2. "When I call a pass play, you are NOT to audible to a run play!"
  3. Don't get me wrong here as I would like to see Spiller given the ball 20+ per game to see if he can handle the load but.... ....there is some evidence suggesting that his ypc would drop if given full time RB duties. For most of the season it was Fred Jackson who took the short yardage and goal line situations. These plays usually incur a lower ypc than regular plays.....therefore if Spiller were to regularly be called upon in short yardage it stands to reason that his overall ypc would drop, if only by a small amount.
  4. At the end of the day......it's the start of another.
  5. I can tell you that AP has carried the ball 11 times in his career more than 25 times.
  6. Fixed it. Just wanted to add the RB who I think was best of all time.
  7. Don't get me wrong....I wasn't questioning Spiller's conditioning....more questioning the coaches decision to question his conditioning. I personally think that a slightly puffed Spiller would be more effective than a totally fresh Choice.
  8. What he said.
  9. Not really....I live in Australia....don't even know what a camden is. I have never played sport at a very high level so I may be way off base.....but I would have thought a pro athlete should be fit enough to get back on the field after a run like that within 2 minutes. I'm likely wrong(I'm sure people will correct me) but here are some times.... From standing after the 61 yarder.... 1 minute & 6 seconds till next snap(pass) 1 minute & 49 seconds till next(Choice run) 2 minutes & 28 seconds till the last(3rd down)
  10. Was Spiller winded today? I was befuddled that after Spiller's 61 yard run to the 23 he was not put back onto the field that drive. There was a timeout ....and then a passing play ....then Choice gets his 1 carry of the game(-3 yards) ....and then Choice stays in for 3rd & 13 on the 26 I guess his 61 yard run must have really winded him.
  11. New flash for you......I've never ever seen him play. My comments are directed at the fact that people like yourself seem to have the hubris to think that their assessment of a player is definitive while the facts surrounding the general assessment of the player suggest a counter view. I would argue just as strongly against somebody who declares definitively that he will be a bust. I am not a "doubter". Being a doubter would suggest that the standard view is that he is going to be great & that I doubt that general assessment. People who thought Luck would fail would be considered doubters.....people who think that since every team in the league had their doubts on a player(being selected in the 4th round) that that player's chance to become a star is doubtful are being reasonably objective. He may well become a superstar.....and if he does you can feel good about your assessments. Until that happens your dogmatic adherence to the views that he "WILL" be a star will remain to be unrealistic.
  12. Sure we do.....and at 4-7 we had a chance to make the playoffs.
  13. ......but you just did comment on that. I feel the same.....but I'll watch every game. Apparently I like the pain.
  14. Have I missed something? 4th round draft pick has a good first NFL game. Young star QB? Wow.
  15. I'm figuring that we agree on the main basis of things....I was just being pedantic over the difference between "great" and "considered great".....which is what I do sometimes, please forgive In regards to the lesser points.... I am certainly no expert, and I accept that CG would likely change and amp up his offense even more with a legit QB.....however...I watch Fitz throw balls that not only regularly totally miss players, but more importantly rarely hit them in stride. Under the current offensive system, if we had a QB that not only could hit the WRs in stride but could also throw an accurate deep ball(and mid-short ball)....the offense would move from being "relatively productive" to "fantastic" IMO....without needing to fundamentally change it to suit a better QB.
  16. This post confounds me. Don't get me wrong, your initial point was extremely well delivered. So much so that I reassessed my views and altered my thoughts on the situation. Essentially, yes....it is a crap shoot trying to obtain a star QB regardless of which route you take trying to do it. It would be wrong to discount any avenue and if one is convinced of a players potential then it is irrelevant how one obtains the player. (Until your post I was not of this view) You then unfortunately followed up. The Bills future will not look mighty promising until we have a QB that, while in a Bills uniform, shows consistently that he is our QB of the future. Until that happens we are in the aforementioned crap shoot.
  17. "CONSIDERED" Added to your thread title, this word would mean the difference between the statement being false and true IMO. "Chan is considered a great coach...if he gets a great QB" I have frustratingly thought on many occasions that CG's Offense would likely be a world beater if he had a legit quarterback quarterbacking it. Unfortunately CG has persisted time and again to try and fit a bunch of square pegs into round holes. Instead of assessing his current talent pool and adapting his Offense accordingly to run with its strengths(pun intended), he constantly persists on his initial game plan, to which the incumbent talent simply cannot execute efficiently. A great QB would help hide many of CG's deficiencies as a HC. His team would likely be winning and his Offense would look spectacular and dynamic. He would definitely IMO be considered a great coach. Unfortunately he wouldn't be a great coach. He wouldn't even be a decent coach, which everyone would likely learn at the first showing of true adversity or bad luck. The wheels would come off, everything would come to a grinding halt and his true abilities would become apparent. IMO CG is a great designer of one type of offense. Given the correct personnel, his Offense could be spectacular. This doesn't mean that he has all of the myriad of abilities that a HC needs....in fact he has very few.
  18. Thanks for the info....I personally find those sort of numbers very interesting. Assuming your supposition is correct that the Bills stuck with Fitz because they knew the odds were high of finding someone(substantially) better, it is IMO very old fashioned thinking and perhaps indicative of what have been some of the bigger problems with the organization. What I mean by that is that in the modern era(last 25ish years), it is the teams with the star QB who have consistently been winning(& losing) the Super Bowl. If the Bills did indeed look at the percentage chances of being able to obtain a star QB.....they neglected to compare them to the percentage chances of being able to win a Super Bowl without one.
  19. I don't know about others but the only reason I was desperate for us to beat the Colts was so that we could have a chance to make the playoffs. That was emotionally important to me ONLY because we are the league joke with the longest streak of not making the playoffs. I knew before the Colts game that we had some major problems on the team(Coaches, QB, LBs etc) and that if we were to sneak into the playoffs it wasn't going to be a true representation of the team as a whole nor a reflection of our future success. The joy I felt today was due to having yet another recent game where the Defense seemed much improved from earlier in the season......and the fact that the game progression suggested that when we focus on the running game, utilizing our first class RBs, we look like we have something that potentially will see us be a legitimate playoff team in the future.
  20. If not better than 7-5....but then it took 12 games for Dave Wannstedt to figure out how to play defense I truly am sorry.....but than/then bugs the snot out of me.....and this was even a sentence with both than & then in it....or should have been.
  21. I read Ruvell Martin and thought "Who?". I had to look him up. For those interested, his stats are.... Games 9 Receptions 0
  22. A new coaching staff will help......and I tend to think that Spiller could be the sort of electric player that might get bums on seats. That being said....I totally agree & I'd be happy to risk the farm to get a star QB.
  23. That's a good point. Even if we lose the rest of the games we likely won't get a top 5 pick anyway.
  24. Though I totally agree that CG is a joke.....punting was probably the odds on thing to do in that position. It was a 4th & 8 On 3rd & 7 or more yards we were 2 from 10(20%) on the day.....while we managed to force a punt or turnover on 6 of 9 drives(66.7%). I'd have punted.
