Yes...I forgot his GM years... Chad Pennington (Round 1, pick 18) 2000 Also yes.... Chad Henne (Round 2, pick 26) 2008 and... Pat White (Round 2, pick 12) 2009 IMO there we no true star QBs selected by Parcells using his formula.....arguably no good QB either.
-
I think it perhaps pertinent to reflect on the QBs that Parcells drafted(3rd round or higher)..... In 19 years as HC.... Jeff Hostetler (Round 3, pick 3) Drew Bledsoe (Round 1, pick 1)

This thread was a good idea.....so much so that BB.com has done one of their own. http://www.buffalobills.com/news/article-2/What-theyre-saying-about-Doug-Marrone/06296ac2-a36c-4854-a56a-4d064831dd8f

....and a good defense gets us 10 and 6 ....and with a good coach gets us 12 and 4 ....and with a decent QB gets us 14 and 2 ....and with a good QB gets us 16 and 0 The defense is certainly a problem....but the QB play is just as big a problem. December 5th saw Nix describe the Bills most pressing need as being: A Franchise Quarterback. We haven't got one....we need one. It's irrelevant how good or bad the defense is.....we NEED a good QB & Fitz is not a good QB.

Ryan Nassib - QB - Syracuse

I am a simple ignorant schmuck when it comes to player ability analysis.....but....that video seemed to me to be a better endorsement for Marrone's offensive system rather than for Nassib's QB abilities. -

Not that I was feeling bad about our selection of Marrone, but this piece of news has made me feel a whole lot better. -
Predicting a draftee QB's NFL ability is akin to predicting what the weather will be like one week from now. Guesses will vary in accordance with individual knowledge and opinion.....but only the people who live in a different place to most on the planet will be convinced that their answer is definitively correct.

You mean Orenthal James? He shortened that to OJ. -
Though I totally agree with you that the odds of landing with a top starter is low(though seems improved in recent years)....the objective is not simply to end up with a QB who is better than Fitz(regardless of if you ranked him 15th or 32nd). The objective is to obtain a star QB. If you look at the top QBs in the league you will find that a vast majority of them were drafted in the 1st round(& early 2nd). We likely will be selecting a QB high in this years draft which means we are selecting a player who has the best chance to become a star....rather than one that has a tiny chance of doing so....or trading for one who has zero chance of doing so.

....and either way....if it is her....or if it isn't her....Levitre is likely not getting any for a while after tweeting that pic.

An Open Thread to Communicate with Russ Brandon
Dibs replied to ThurmasThoman's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Ignoring your anger management issues..... The OP was indeed trying to make a thread in the manner you mentioned. I only realized this after reading your post, as I stopped reading the OP after this bit.... It seems quite incongruous to where he ended up(wanting a thread about end zone colours or shelves in the urinals). -
Thanks for that.....I missed it in the other thread.

Okey dokey then. All good, carry on. No issues at all with your 100% guarantee from me. Nope. I'm 100% behind you! -

Bills opening ranked 4th best opportunity
Dibs replied to PromoTheRobot's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Any head coach that has any daylight left in their day after working or has time to play golf or relax and enjoy the city they live in while coaching is not one that I want coaching the Bills. Doesn't the typical NFL HC work something like 16 hours/day? -
Modern day elite professional athletes have to devote an immense amount of time and dedication to become and maintain elite ability/status. You really think it makes that much difference if they have their main coach on game day showing or not showing overt emotional reactions? I personally don't care what the style of coaching my HC has as long as he wins games.

I am one of those fans. A week ago I'd never heard of him.....but now I am under the impression that he is a top tier coaching candidate. If we landed him and the positive buzz continued I would be extremely excited to be a Bills fan, especially considering the lack of top tier coaches we have had in recent times. I imagine many other fans would be exactly the same as myself which means you are likely a bit misguided to think that excited fans won't equate to bums on seats.

I don't disagree with you. I used the term "fine line" because, yes, virtually all firings would be due to unfulfilled expectations. This does not however take into consideration the differing degrees of not fulfilling expectations, nor the differing levels of expectations which would vary from team to team and situation to situation. As highlighting example.... Lovie Smith finishing 10-6 and making the conference final 3 seasons ago(and making a SB 4 seasons prior to that) and getting fired is perhaps quite a different set of variables to Chan Gailey finishing 6-10 and getting fired. Though they were both technically "fired for failing", Chan Gailey failed on pretty much every level conceivable while Lovie Smith failed because his record, though good, was not considered good enough for the Bears. In the last 3 years Whisenhunt had no winning season with an average of 6 wins. I'd be fairly sure that article author James Walker would consider Whisenhunt to have universally failed, unlike coaches like Lovie Smith who have succeeded in comparison.

It seemed to me that they were fishing for some controversial answers.....which you didn't give. (Ever thought of going into politics lol) We have our share of pig headed, opinionated, inconsiderate morons here but by your tempered and well considered answers perhaps showed that not all forums are full of such people....particularly TBD. I personally feel that you were representing myself along with every other regular poster here and was pleased and proud with how you handled yourself. Great Job!

Poll: The Attributes of Our Next QB
Dibs replied to You herd it hear last's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
What characteristics would you like to see in the Bills QB of the future? I can't pick just 3. I want them all but "Good College stats". -
Hard to argue with. A HC with previous HC experience plus two coordinators with HC experience. Plus they all know Buffalo and the organization. LOVE IT!!!
