  1. I don't know about Tarvaris but I think what we saw in 2012 was actually Fitz flourishing.....that's perhaps as flourishy as he gets.
  2. Really? You want to make the argument that since a majority of accidents are caused by sober drivers, that it is therefore somehow safer to drive mentally impaired by a drug?
  3. I was wondering the same. Why go to all that effort and not test the subjects periphery abilities & reaction times? I would have liked to seen them have to react to something "popping" out/in front of them. I'd say that if you can't drive slowly around a few cones when you are very stoned......you likely can't react too well to something unforeseen when you are basically stoned. In terms of the amounts.....it's been a good 20 years since I've smoked but the amounts people are talking about so far in this thread was not what I was used to. 0.4g for a pipe? We used to pack down many multiples of "party cones"(bigger) in one sitting on a regular basis. Basically the smoking equivalent of binge drinking. Then we'd go out for munchies. Being young and stupid, none of us considered it overly dangerous. My Brother(a moron) used to convince people that you were actually safer driving while stoned as you were constantly paranoid, therefore constantly checking everything you did. Even after he scraped the side of a parked car he maintained this delusion. Drugs are bad M'kay?
  4. That really doesn't clear up anything. You are saying that the 1st round graded QBs that will be in this draft will not be graded as high as the 2nd, 3rd & 4th round graded QBs in the 2011/12 drafts. That makes no logical sense. The only thing I can think of is that you are playing with hindsight......and fudging on basic math principles.....saying all of the lucky hits happened in the last 2 years so this year it won't happen. Assuming that after the combine there are QBs legitimately graded as 1st round talent, they will be considered better prospects than Kaepernick, Wilson & Dalton were.....irrelevant to the overall strength of draft class.
  5. Sweet....I'll pick Cousins. The 4th round(#102) selection in last years draft. By saying... "Yea I know we need a QB but this year crop is weak. They had a chance last year to get a good QB and didnt go for it and now they are stuck ." ....you are implying that there is no QB in the 2013 draft that is worthy of a 3rd round selection, let alone a 1st round one. As there will likely be several QBs that will grade out as 1st round potential talent......your comment makes no logical sense.
  6. I've been doing a bit of thinking about Kelsay recently. As I've said before, I am no judge of player ability(which is why I never make comment on it).....so I tend to rely on the opinions of others, statistics & general logic to assess in my own mind if a player is good/average/bad etc. The thing I believe that has occurred with Kelsay is that Bills fans judge him from the expectations of a #1 DE. Correct me if I'm wrong but Kelsay has never been slated as the #1 DE on the team.....always the #2 guy. If he was a very good DE.....and was more athletic....made more plays....fewer errors.....he would be the #1 DE. When compared with the other 31 teams' #2 DEs, Kelsay appears to be roughly in the middle of the pack. There are a good third of teams that have obviously superior #2 DEs.....but there are also about a third who have obviously inferior #2 DEs. As he isn't the #1 DE on the team, he should be compared to his other #2 DE peers....which places him as a solid starter and certainly somebody who you would want to keep on your roster(based on the fact that solid starters are not easily replaced). If you(or others reading or doubting this) can be bothered, check out the other 31 rosters & their #2 DEs. If you disagree with my assessment, let me know.
  7. Who are you referring to? Wilson?
  8. Here: http://secondroundstats.com/2013/02/01/smith-barkley-glennon-and-wilson-a-metrics-breakdown/
  9. .....or because we don't want to spend veteran money on the OG position. Not that I believe that will be the case......but it certainly is a possibility.
  10. Thanks for the link......very interesting. The other links on their site are worth a read too......I've now bookmarked them. Side note: I've noticed that this time of year brings out a lot of occasional TBD posters......most of which seem to want to throw up their dogmatic views without thought or consideration. You however certainly do not fall into this category of poster. In case nobody said so when you first joined......welcome.
  11. Well.....turnovers are exciting plays......that makes Fitz an excitement machine!!!! Hang on....my logic is flawed there somewhere isn't it?
  12. You are correct.....building a championship team involves a lot more than a single position on the playing field. You are however incorrect.....defense can no longer be considered to win championships......and the odds that you can win a championship without a franchise QB are extremely low. Looking at the stats of Championship winning teams(& their QBs) shows this to be true.....and not just some random opinion that I might have. Read through this thread & you'll see how the modern NFL has changed. How top QBs are a vital commodity.....and how teams with poorly performing defenses regularly win the SB now a days. http://forums.twobillsdrive.com/topic/155525-how-to-win-a-super-bowl/?do=findComment&comment=2722647
  13. The reports on the TJ contract stated he could earn up to $4.5M......that obviously implies that there are incentives in the contract. I would think the potential to be simply cut might be enough incentive for Fitz to restructure. He is due $7.45M in cash.....but nothing if he is cut.
  14. I could be wrong JPS, but I don't think the OP meant posters like yourself. I think she was referring to posters who act like their opinion is actually a fact.
  15. I'm with you on this....it is driving me crazy as well. Though I don't know for sure.....the term "weak QB draft" seems to be generally referring to the fact that there are no "franchise" QB prospects. It doesn't mean that there are no legitimate 1st round graded QBs in this draft. Smith, Barkley, Wilson....all are being touted at this point as legitimate 1st rounders. We have the #8 pick....not a top 4 pick. It should matter not to a Bills fan that there are no true "franchise" QB prospects in this draft.....they are always selected in the top 4 draft slots. What should matter is how many legitimate 1st round graded QBs there are in this draft. As far as I can see there will be 3-4.....and we'll know better after the combine. Assuming that there are 3, that means that for a team who needs a good QB prospect.......who doesn't have a top 4 pick........that this draft is actually a better one to be drafting in than one where there are 3 1st round graded QBs but 2 of them are considered "franchise" QBs. We have a much better chance to not only get a 1st round graded QB.....but to chose the one we prefer.
  16. And that is where I stopped reading.
  17. Stinky Wang?
  18. No. Implies means to indicate or suggest without being explicitly stated.
  19. At this time his contract is being reported as.... "...a one-year deal that could be worth as much as $4.5 million." This implies there are incentives in the contract.....I would guess based upon playing time. There is also no mention of signing bonus. If the signing bonus is around 0.5M or less then he can easily be cut before the season.
  20. I always wonder what prompts people to say the things they say.....in this case....why did Marrone say.... “I spoke with Ryan (Fitzpatrick) and Tarvaris (Jackson) and told them we will have an open competition at the quarterback position – similar to what we will do at all positions on our team heading into our offseason work,” said Marrone. “I believe that our players will embrace this challenge. We are looking forward to working with our players as we prepare for the 2013 season.” It doesn't sound like it was part of a pre written press release......which implies that it was a direct response to a question......likely about who will be the starting QB. I'm wondering if there is any other possible response that he could have given at this time......and if not, doesn't it make the comment totally meaningless?
  21. There are countless Johnsons in the league......yet only one Wang. How does that work?
  22. Actually, it's the only logical thing to do...........unless they feel Fitz can develop into a decent starter(lol). If Fitz doesn't restructure then we will be paying good starter money to a backup quality player. "So what....we only save 0.45M if we cut him." I hear people(you) saying..... If we don't cut him & don't restructure him.....we will be in a similar position regarding his situation in 2014. In 2013 we will be paying 7.45M in cash and cop a 10.45M cap hit.....to a guy we all know can't be even a solid starter. (10M cap hit & 0.45M cap saving if we cut him). In 2014 we will be paying 7.55M in cash and cop a 10.55M cap hit.....to a guy we all know can't be even a solid starter. (7M cap hit & 3.55M cap saving if we cut him). Keeping him on his current contract would be pure stupidity in relation to cap management as it will mean 2 years of cap crap from Fitz instead of just one. Why would he restructure? He is due to be paid 7.45M this year. If he is cut he makes 0.00M. I firmly believe that Fitz will be restructured......and will then fight it out with TJ in camp(likely for the backup role).
  23. I was expecting Marrone to say that we are going to be trading with the Browns at #6 in the draft so we grab <insert desired QB name> before the Cardinals do. I'd hope that any information given out publicly at this point could not be used to help other teams determine our plans on draft day.
  24. Yeah....but I don't know what that means in relation to his new deal. How many years.....how much per year....signing bonus? Signing Bonus is going to be a key factor. If it is high then it is likely he stays on the roster.....if low, we can cut him at training camp with no great ill effect to the cap.
  25. It's impossible to speculate on what this means to Bills strategy unless we know the details of Jackson's contract.
