Why does everyone think Matt Ryan is a top 6 QB?
Dibs replied to FireChan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
On this I will have to agree to disagree. -
Just How Little Draft Evaluations Mean...
Dibs replied to thebandit27's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I think people use the term crap shoot because there is a common misconception that whomever you draft in the 1st(& 2nd & 3rd) will become a good long term player for your team......where the reality is that you are likely looking at a 1 in 3 chance for that to happen from the 1st round. -
The best cap/contract site just got better.
Dibs replied to Dibs's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I'm not sure....but I've seen that listed on other sites as well. It happens to be the exact same amount as his SB average/year cap hit.....but I have no idea why it carried through to 2013. -
For a while now I have used a particular site in regards to the Bills team/player cap numbers. It seems that this site has recently expanded to cover all NFL teams(rather than just AFC East).....as well as adding just about everything you'd want to know about player cap hits, contracts, free agency, money spent on positions, future cap hits etc. The only thing it doesn't cover is past contracts & years. For a number cruncher like myself, this site is now officially awesome! Enjoy. http://www.overthecap.com/teamcap.php?Team=Bills&Year=2013

It's very amusing, quirky & clever......but don't expect to have too many belly laughs while watching it.

Colin Brown, Tarvaris Jackson, Aaron Corp, Terrence McGee, Hutch Eckerson, George Wilson, Nick Barnett, Donald Jones, David Nelson. Who makes the decision of when to explain what decision to the public? Perhaps....with a little patience....the explanation will become apparent.

What Positions Do We NOT Need To Draft??
Dibs replied to Storm Front's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
You should know by now that as Bills fans we have no use for players that are merely decent......at any position. Unless they are good-great they have no place on our team. -
Not too sure what your point with Colston is but... No, that was his 2012 salary. 1.2m salary....plus a 0.1m bonus....plus 2m of the 10m signing bonus money. 2013 he earns.....4.5m salary....plus a 0.1m bonus....plus 2m of the 10m signing bonus money. Overall his contract was 7.26m ave over 5 years.

The problem that I always have with Top 10/20/50/100 lists is that regardless of the topic, the compilers of these lists(if an individual) seem to do no research and use very little thought when doing them.....or they are based upon public voting.....which is usually skewed towards a particular type of persons opinion(usually young....often pretentious intellectual).

P. Manning? -
Dune is in my Top 100 list.....probably in my Top 25. Bad interpretation? It at least followed the base premise of the story.....unlike such annoyances as "I, Robot", "Constantine" & "I am Legend", to name a few.

By saying that.....you prove your thread title incorrect. Just saying. -

I've been covering this concept in some drafting studies I've done.....but basing it on 5 years of starting over a 20 year period. If you are interested in the results: QB: http://forums.twobillsdrive.com/topic/155235-drafting-success-qb/?do=findComment&comment=2712778 LB: http://forums.twobillsdrive.com/topic/155307-drafting-success-lb/?do=findComment&comment=2714704 WR: http://forums.twobillsdrive.com/topic/155410-drafting-success-wr/?do=findComment&comment=2718875 OL: http://forums.twobillsdrive.com/topic/155887-drafting-success-ol/?do=findComment&comment=2733652 -
Are you implying that Bray left the "D" off his tattoo?
-
Steve Johnson is IMO a good WR. There are however a lot of good-great WRs in the league. This places our #1 WR situation at average.....better than a lot of teams....worse than a lot of teams. This concept.....the difference between grading the actual talent of the player(s), & grading the comparable talent of player(s) in relation to the average around the league.....is bound to cause some strange voting results for your threads.

Not so bad.....if he did it himself

There seems to be a common theme to most of these peeves. Strangely we don't like it when other people are rude.....in any situation.

What a laugh riot that show was. Could hardly hear it over my continual raucous laughter. Seriously though.....it was a very good show.....but funniest???

Pats* sign Brady to 3 year extension thru 2017
Dibs replied to FluffHead's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
57M + 13.6M of carryover monies from previous contract = 70.6M Ignoring how it appears at the start, look directly at the 2015 season. At that point he will have earned: 2013: 1m salary + 6m signing bonus + 3.2m of previous contracts signing bonus + 3.6m of previous contract restructure bonus = 13.8m 2014: 2m salary + 6m signing bonus + 3.2m of previous contracts signing bonus + 3.6m of previous contract restructure bonus = 14.8m 2013 + 2014 total = 28.6m At this point he still has 18m of his signing bonus(guaranteed money) left to factor......and according to the article you linked, the 24m from the salaries of the 2015-2017 seasons become guaranteed. This means that after 2 years, his deal is worth 70.6m(28.6m + 18m + 24m) regardless to whether he retires after the 2014, 2015 or 2016 season. I imagine that there would be a payback clause which would reduce the money by 6m/season not played.....but that has not been reported. Even if that were the case, retiring after 2015 would mean 58.6m over 3 year....19.5m/year. -
Aaron Williams on his way to Buffalo
Dibs replied to buffalobillsgrl's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Good one! Good point! Highly pertinent to him being a bust or not. It's obviously a fact.....every true fan knows it. If only the players would pay attention to it we'd be alright. -
Pats* sign Brady to 3 year extension thru 2017
Dibs replied to FluffHead's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I think it works out more than that....the comment from that article of... "However, if he's on the roster for the last game of 2014 season, the $24 million due from 2015 to 2017 becomes fully guaranteed." ....refers to his base salaries in those years. Effectively if he sees the end of the 2014 season.....the entire contract will be guaranteed, as the only monies paid to him(or factored by cap) in 2015-2017 are salaries(guaranteed as stated above) and signing bonus(paid upon signing). Therefore, if he plays 3 years(retires after 2015), he will be earning 70.6m over 3 years.....23.5m/year......and the Pats will have a dead money cap hit of a whopping 29m in 2016. (Unless he has a payback clause for some signing bonus money in the contract that has not been mentioned). If he plays for 4 years, this contract becomes a little friendlier for the Pats. Brady would earn 17.7m/year....and the Pats dead money cap hit would only be a paltry 15m in 2017. If there is no payback clause, Belicheat would wisely chose to retire himself if Brady retires before the end of that contract. 29m dead cap in 2016 or 15m in 2017......OUCH! -
I think trading a 1st round pick for a QB who has played one game(Bob Johnson) is a dumber idea......but quibbling over the relatively level of stupidity is something that is alien here, so I'm not going to do it.
