I'm pretty sure I didn't believe Levy drafted him, seeing as he was gone. I'm just not sure that Russ had major inputs on the draft, even with the COO/GM title. The impression I got was that everyone had inputs on the draft to include Modrak, Guy, Jauron and crew. I think most of us can agree that didn't work. If he was acting as a traditional GM wouldn't he have been fired when they hired the current GM? Correct me if I'm wrong as only you can do.

Do you really think Russ drafted Maybin? While I believe they all had input, I can't belive Russ was given the authority to draft players. If he was then the Bills are in much worth shape then I thought.

[closed]The next Barry Sanders?!

What is the Lion's record right now? So they didn't get blown out by the Packers. They still are 0-2. What is up with your last two lines? Some people must feel the need to be right so they brag after two games. Maybe it makes them feel smarter because they root for an awful football team. -
I was curious to know what he took. Was it steroids? If it is known that he was taking a masking agent then I'm unaware. If it was an over the counter GNC type supplement I believe it would speak volumes on where his maturity level is. I do remember Bruce getting popped for cocaine and he ended up doing ok. My original post was really defending the posters comment that he would like to know what he took. He then seemed to get attacked. It is a legitimate question IMO. If he was taking roids he was cheating. I remember a few posters, a couple years back, mentioning the Patriots were taking HGH. People wanted to know. I just think there are bigger jerks trolling and posting argumentative crap that are better targets to attack.

Biggest Reason our Offense will improve
bills7834 replied to Stussy109's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I don't know if practicing against the 3-4 is the biggest reason, but it can't hurt. I think as other posters have already noted the obvious reasons, this is another reason I hadn't thought of. He has struggled against 3-4 defenses. Remember Peyton Manning did for a while also. I'm not saying Trent is ever reaching that level I am saying it appears to give opposing offenses some problems. -
Dean - I wasn't whining about not knowing why our TE was suspended. I'm curious though. I find it odd that others are not. People on this board want to know every detail about every player. He was suspended and can't play for the team I follow. It kind of is the business of the fans. I am not losing any sleep over it. I just would like to know. As I stated before I also understand why the Bills FO is not saying anything as they are not required. By the way I'm not sure what I wrote to make you respond like an a$$ maybe they served tuna casserole again to you at the senior center or you lost at shuffleboard again. I ask that you try to grow up yourself.

I'm not buying the HIPPA garbage on this one. Players injuries get listed everyday. I also would like to know what he took. It does make a difference. I'm not sure why many others don't want to know what he took. Look at the amount of posts some people have on here and the amount of their lives they waste posting on one website. Some people are pushing 10,000 posts and probably don't know their child's teachers' names. You live and die the Bills. All of a sudden when the TE on our team, that looks to have the most potential at the position in years, is suspended for 4 games nobody cares. I also believe the Bills are doing the right thing by not talking if they are not required.

It's late Sunday night and I'm too lazy to look up the stats. But I'm sure if you looked up 3rd/4th down and 1 Jackson has much better stats then Lynch. I would get angry that a bruising back like him would dance instead of hitting the hole. Here is what I think we have with our 3 backs in no particular order: Jackson: Smart, versatile back that never seems to make mistakes. Who did they give the ball to in the wildcat formation? I can't remember one mental mistake he has made in his time here with the Bills. Lynch: One of the toughest backs in the league to tackle when he gets a head of steam. Very good back also. Has a nose for the endzone. Pisses me off in short yardage situations. Spiller: It's early with just a few quarters of preseason but barring an injury I would bet the farm on this. He is a home run, versatile back that will lead the team in negative yard carries and then take it to the house. He is a game changer on a regular basis. The other two backs can carry the team on their back on a consistent basis, but this kid will change the game. When they announce the game coming up this week it will be Spiller and the Bills. I have very little doubt of that.

At what point do you cut your losses with Maybin?
bills7834 replied to DIE HARD 1967's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I'm not sure he will live up to the initial hopes of whoever drafted him thought he would, but he does have 1 sack and 8 tackles in two games. I realize it is preseason and he isn't playing the cream of the crop. You would have to think he, as well as the entire defense, would both improve as the year goes on and they get used to the system and each other. Let's say he goes at this pace. That's 8 sacks and 64 tackles for the season. I'm not saying he will stay at that pace, but if he did I would be happy with his output. -
I watched that hit a few times and it didn't look dirty to me at all. If I were his coach I'd tell him to keep playing like that. It wasn't a blow to the head, wasn't late or vicious. McNabb is a high profile player and they will always be overly protective of QB's of his stature.

Steelers team airplane spotted in Buffalo

They could have saved some time and money. The way to stop Edwards is to start the game clock. -
Jets may not have a happy camper in their midst, Revis
bills7834 replied to Skoobydum's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Players holding out everytime they have a good year is pathetic. Treating them like heros because they play a game that puts them at risk of injury is pathetic. I understand their career is short and they are trying to get as much as they can. But this is insane. There are a select few that holdout when ever they are not the highest paid at their position. That is pretty much every year with newer contracts. Let us not forget they play a game. There are people who are extremely gifted at their job who not only risk their body to injury, but they risk their lives. They only wish their boss was a "greedy" owner. Their boss is a lying, self centered, cheating politician. I'm guessing you know by now I'm speaking of the military, fireman and policeman. Some of them are just as good at their job as Revis is "playing" CB. They don't deserve every cent. Sign a contract and play it out. If you were a 6th round QB taking your team to and winning SB's getting paid 6th round money, then come talk to me. Revis was drafted in the first round and was expected to be a stud and got paid accordingly. -
In Gaily's last interview he said he has 3! guys not 4?

I thought Buddy Nix hired the head coach.

How dare a veteran WR try to help some of the younger guys on the team!

Question WRT The Spiller Selection
bills7834 replied to Bill from NYC's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I thought the Bills were tied or lead in the 4th quarter 14 out of 16 games last year. If the Bills were able to run well in the second half of games last year like you suggest I think they would have won a lot more games. I also don't buy that the NFL is built for passing only that some have suggested. If you can run the ball down the oppostion's throat at will you will win a lot more games then you lose. -
A team I could see him going to and unfortunately having a lot of success is the Pats*. It would be strange him and Moss on the same team, but him playing in Buffalo was also strange.

What you want from Buffalo Bills coverage/talk
bills7834 replied to NickMendola's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Yes they do. For those of you with a smartphone check out this website. It is crystal clear and I can listen to WECK or WGR from my Blackberry. http://www.yourmuze.fm -
Parcells has built some strong teams. He usually started with strong lnes. Holmgren did nothing with the Seahawks. Ron Wolfe built the Packers. I'm not sure why everyone is so high on him.
-
I hope he isn't a bust. He isn't a starter? A team that hasn't made the playoffs in over ten years can't afford to draft projects in the first round. Maybe that is why they haven't made the playoffs in the past decade. I hope he does well in his second year as an OLB in the 3-4. The only real reason for any kind of hope for him is that he was drafted in the first. It has not been his play on the field.

Jim Kelly clears things up...
bills7834 replied to Wilson from Gamehendge's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The last 2 QB's the Bills have picked have not been proven winners. I personally don't care if they pick a strong armed QB from Malibu. If he has made his team better and has a strong arm to throw the rock when the winds pickup in Buffalo then he is our man. Qb IMHO is the toughest position in all pro sports. If a guy can't win in college I don't want the Bills to draft him. -
My daughter has a homework assignment "Why the Bills will never win the superbowl" Any help would be greatly appreciated. Funny responses are okay. Here is what she has so far: 1. Ralph Wilson does not spend enough money to hire a proven coach. The most successful Bills head coach was Marv Levy and he was bought in for very little money. He didn’t have much success before coming to Buffalo. Ralph basically was very lucky that Marv was as successful as he was. 2. When they chose to spend a lot of money on a free agent player they tend to not be very wise with the choice. An example is spending $6.5 million on Terrell Owens, when his best years are behind him. The only category he is leading on the Bills is dropped passes. 3. There is a good chance that the team will move to Toronto in the very near future. The Bills are nowhere close to getting to the playoffs let alone the Super Bowl, before they could move to Toronto. 4. The Bills have been to 4 consecutive Super Bowls and haven’t won one. Many of those players are now in the Pro Football Hall of Fame. The Bills don’t have few players to even make the annual NFL Pro Bowl let alone future Hall of Famers. 5. The Bills have started over ten quarterbacks since Jim Kelly has retired. They can’t seem to find a quality player for arguably the most important position in all of professional sports. 6. Every year for the past three to five years the Bills have drafted more players for the skilled positions. The games are won by the big players on the defensive and offensive lines. They have done a poor job selecting these positions. 7. The Bills haven't had very good success picking a good head coach (see 1). They have a new coach about every three years. The players learn a new system and then get a new coach, and have to start over. It is no coincidence that the team that has won the most Super Bowls in the NFL has only had three head coaches in its entire history, the Pittsburgh Steelers. 8. Ralph Wilson is 91 years old and has no heir apparent to take over the team after he passes away. It is difficult to lure a big name coach and general manager to take over a team that has an uncertain future whether it be located. 9. The city of Buffalo and the surrounding area does a very poor marketing job on how great Buffalo actually is. I have lived on California, Florida, South Carolina and now back in Western New York. People from around the country have a very pessimistic view of Buffalo. This view widely shared by many doesn’t help attract big name players. These players are twenty something year old millionaires looking for fun and excitement. 10. Hell has not froze over yet.

Jim Kelly and Golisano more like it. NFL teams are selling for around 1 Billion dollars. Kelly would be just the face of the new ownership team. Golisano's track record is not that great. If we had 2 leaders on the Bills, he would decide to trade them both in the same off season.

Sorry if this has been posted before. I did a search and didn't see it. It's a great site. http://www.buffalosportsmuseum.com/
