A Note About The Bills-Jags Broadcast
Bufluv replied to BuffaninATL's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I completely agree with you -
Thigpen (if he has another bad game Thurs...if he rebounds and outplays Levi, we keep him) Johnny White (maybe makes the PS, but no impact as a RB so far) Ed Wang (stinks) Shawn Nelson (Experiment is over, he can't stay healthy) Da'Norris Searcy (no impact as a returner, buried on the depth chart at SS Corto makes the team instead. Searcy makes the PS though) Buster Davis (not really a surprise cut...he hasn't showed anything) Jasper or Heard (I think one of them is going to the PS)

Building a team with our castaways

Poz and Prioleau -
I was originally thinking we should get him a pay-raise ala Chris Johnson to buy us more time to evaluate him as a #1...but on 2nd thought, that doesn't seem to have worked out for the Titans. Pay the man.
-
good point!
-
Stevie surely needs a new deal, but I'd like to see him perform as a #1 BEFORE we pay him long-term #1 money.
-
Watch the video again...Fred is asked if his current contract has anything to do with how he feels...he says "obviously"..."it's something" and "hopefully will be addressed". That's saying so
-
I think it's a combo of getting paid what you're worth and respect. Fred's been sandwiched between two First rounders that got paid much more, on potential... and so far, he's out-produced both. But when Fred is sent to the pine to watch Spiller make more and produce less, it's probably tough for him to take.
-
It's cool, I don't disagree with you in principle, it's just that I don't think Freddy plays like a declining vet...I think he plays better than our recent First rounder. Let the play on the field do the talking, not the "potential" on paper
-
I sort of understand what you are saying and am not trying to be unreasonable... but how are fans "over-valuing" Freddy when he is out-performing the players with "potential"?
-
inconsistent, falling (running) backwards and missing blitz assignments IS what the "future" of the team is showing right now, and also showed last year
-
Spiller will never be a between the tackles runner imo. He weighs 192 lbs and is not physical at all. He's a "waterbug" with speed and needs space to operate in. His only hope to fulfill his draft status is to be used in a 2-back set or out of the slot, and also kick/punt returns. Gailey should use him in the pre-season the way he expects to use him in real games...you know, so he can get better at his craft. It's wrong to sit Fred in order to "experiment" with using spiller as a #1 back. Spiller needs to add 20 lbs if he is ever going to be a #1 back. This is a case of the Bills trying to justify another bad 1st rd pick.

Normally I just lurk, but I want to offer you my sympathy and prayers. When faced with a similar situation, It helped to be reminded that LOVE lives on and with FAITH, you can rest assured that you will be reunited again! Thanks for a great online community!!!

Anyone know what JP's salary in the UFL was? I remember hearing that Vick was offered $2M for 1 season as the league's "marquee" player. Vick didn't sign, so I think JP became the league's marquee player. This could turn into a great year for JP. If the colts sign him, he stands a good chance to end up with a SB ring to go along with his UFL Championship ring.

Poz showed amazing closing speed on the sack, I just wish he would show that same speed to plug the hole in the running game.

Agreed that something went down. I suspect a player revolt against Edwards. In the interview with T.O. on buffalobills.com about the coaching change, T.O. says (5.0 minutes in) that he thought Fitz shoulda been the QB coming out of the bye. When Trent went into 4th quarter meltdown mode yet AGAIN, even Josh Reed had to speak up along with T.O. I think Trent's arrogance, combined with lack of leadership is the reason the team has given up on him. When he throws a pick, its a "great play by the corner" instead of a bad throw by him.

Fewell making players practice in pads
Bufluv replied to PromoTheRobot's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Perry said he would consult with colleagues for advice, I wouldn't be surprised if he spoke to Mike Singletary. Singletary drew up a good blueprint for an immediate turn-around, starting with playing more physical. We'll know for sure if Perry drops trou -
DJ: "We punted it well and we covered it well..."
Bufluv replied to Big Turk's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The part that gets me is the coaches never seem to get mad, they just point out the few positives (good punt coverage) and make BS excuses for the negatives, along with empty promises to correct the glaring mistakes. 4 years later, the same old BS! -
I sat at a blackjack table in Vega$ with Vick and his girlfriend the night before the Superbowl, the year Tampa won. Vick drank Greygoose and pineapple juice all night. The guy obviously hasn't changed a bit After proclaiming it was the last hand of the night he put 3 gold ($1000) chips down and hit blackjack. Actually the whole table won BIG that night.

Why fans and media shouldn't assign sacks allowed
Bufluv replied to TimGraham's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The sacks allowed stat is surely subjective, but I view it a little like the plus-minus stat in hockey. You get stuck with the minus when your linemates or goalie has a breakdown. But when you look at the cumulative results over the season, its still a pretty accurate account of your play. Your shifts either produced or didn't, overall. For sacks allowed, good excuses or not, if you lead in that category consistently you have problems to fix at that position. -
Hi Tim, I noticed on espn's Contract Status of '09 1st Round Picks page that Eric Wood is one of only two 1st Rounders listed that signed for only 4 years. Does that benefit the Bills or the player? I'm wondering if you think the FO had to throw him a bone to get him in camp, since they can't afford a holdout this year. Thanks

Most underrated player on the team.....
Bufluv replied to jonramz's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I agree that they should have Freddy and Lynch in together more often. IMO Parrish should see decreasing playing time and Freddy can line up in the backfield with Lynch, go in motion and run a route from the slot...or numerous other options. -
Most underrated player on the team.....
Bufluv replied to jonramz's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Freddy Jackson gets my vote. He embraces the role of being Lynch's wing man (and vice versa), has awesome open field running skills and surprisingly runs very well between the tackles. You can see that he too has learned "Beast Mode" from Lynch and won't let 1 guy take him down. He also returns kicks and punts very well. I really like the way he was stinging the Bronco's for kicking away from McKelvin. -
Could we get a first round pick for Whitner?
Bufluv replied to 1billsfan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
IMO Whitner's solid overall but lacks the ball hawking skills you want in a FS. He should stay at SS and I'd like to see Youboty play FS. Youboty was really getting to the ball before he went down -
PFT reporting Jauron may be gone at season's end
Bufluv replied to BillsVet's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Paul Pasqualloni might make a good candidate for head coach. He's been a successful head coach in college and has been building his resume in the nfl, under Bill Parcells (in Dallas, Miami) He's probably learned a thing or two from working in a proven, successful system.
