You guys make me laugh...
The Rev.Mattb74 ESQ. replied to taterhill's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
OK they didnt make huge impacts where they played last year. The Bills picked up Lofton when another team no longer had them in the plans, same with Art Still and they where both free agents because they where cut. We cut Bryce Fisher few years ago, and he is a pass rushing stud now. Players develop, or pick up systems more suited to their needs. I still dont buy into getting high priced Free Agents Unless you need that one player to go over the top. I am glad we did not pay 8 million for a center who wasnt wanted back by a team who went and aquired a "franchise" QB. The problem facing the Bills is bad drafting for the last decade. You have to draft your team and add complementary players through free agency. Occasionally a player that is too good to pass up comes along, like a TKO but mostly they hurt the team they left more then the team they are going to. I am not saying that everything the Bills touch will turn to Gold, but I appreciate the fact it appears that a plan is in place and being followed. I am not saying it is a great plan, but atleast OBD looks to have direction and leadership. Lets give the team two years and then if they are still as bad as they are now I will give in and ask for a new direction, but until then I will give solice that we have direction. -

Vinatieri to Colts
The Rev.Mattb74 ESQ. replied to BillsFan Trapped in Pats Land's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I think that is a good get for the Colts, they are the type of team that I think should bring in a higher priced Free Agent because they just need that one piece to push them over the top. -

While I disagree that this team has very few holes, I will say that I think you might be on to something. When TKO went down, the fire seemed to leave the Defense. I feel that having him back will bring back accountability and leadership to that side of the ball and thus make us better for his mere presence. I feel he is the total package talent heart and desire, and while I dont like spending big bucks on free agents and building through the draft is better, if you can get a gamer like him you do it. I did not see alot of those type guys this year in free agency that is why I am not mad at Marv for not getting the big name because for every Spikes there is a Sam Adams that just fizzles. I know some think that Big Sam was great, but all the years he did great he had Cortez Kennedy, Tony (Siragussa?), Warren Sapp, or Pat Williams next to him. I am not trying to Bash big Sam(I love his drinks) I just think he was one guy you paid for his name. -

I think it is not really as simple as the TV contract makes it look. I am not trying to tell you how to spend your money and as a capitalist I fully support you spending(or not spending) how you deem fit. I even find it a good intelligent decision. However just because the TV contract covers players salaries, it does not cover the coaches, or trainers, or security, parking lot attendents, maintnance workers or grounds personal. The soaring costs of medical care cant be cheap, or the lease on the stadium cost alot as well. What about taxes, and administrative fees. I dont think equipment like uniforms and wieghts are cheap. Team travel is sure to cost a pretty penny, and the cost of electric isnt going down. I wont lie to you, I go to one maybe two games a year not a season ticket holder like all the others that are canceling theirs because I cant justify the cost on my budget to have a healthy profit left over for me and mine. I just do not think Ralph is pocketing the tons of cash you think he is. I am sure the team is worth alot, but that does not mean it brings him a liquid fortune. The only real money to be made from this team would be in a sale of the team, and I applaud Ralph for not doing that and keeping the team here when he could have made bucket loads of cash elsewhere. -
Could the next NFL commisioner be...
The Rev.Mattb74 ESQ. replied to NorthWesternBill's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
What is the NFL to do when Tagliabue steps down. The only move that wouldnt seem stupid is to hire a person with previous NFL commisioner experience. Obviously Rozell will be on oiuja quick call for all deciisions. -

Maybe Nall is a Bulger type never really seen him play, but I remember during the scrimmage last year the announcer thought well of him -
I was not trying to upset anyone with this post, just wanted to vent without attacking anyone elses opinion by attatching it on another thread. Some of the things being said I find amazingly vengeful to some of our greater Buffalo sports personalitys. I understand that we havent been to the playoffs sice Music City and all the moves being made have been bad since. I however have great love for our area and sports people and fans since we still support our teams. I still feel this is a new day, and new staff and I will support them till they prove they cant do the job. I work nights and have little chance to talk football with other people besides my wife(who although is the most wonderful person I know) knows little about football. I appreciate the banter and even like the disagreements we all have, just wanted to be sarcastic without offending anybody else. Now lets get together and sing a round of Id like to teach the world to sing in perfect harmony.

Could JP Losman be on his way out?
The Rev.Mattb74 ESQ. replied to firstngoal's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I respectfully disagree. Marv maybe a first time GM but he has knowledge of the game and Modrak who has been a GM to help him, also his good friend Polian and Overdorf to help with contracts. Lombardi was once a first time head coach, and he turned out pretty good. Marv learned from greats like George Allen. I remember Marv talking about Allen interviewing a scout and he asked the scout what he looked for in a player. The scout said I want a guy who gets knocked down and gets back up, then gets knocked down again and gets back up all game long. Allen replied that sounds good but I would rather have the guy that was knocking him down. I feel Marv should get a benefit he is a Hall of Famer, and has been around many greats to learn from, I do not see age as problem just well weathered. -
Are the Bills Setting Up
The Rev.Mattb74 ESQ. replied to Casey D's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I sure hope so. I am sick of rotating door at left tackle, I almost think Jerry Crafts would have been a stud O-Lineman for this team last year. I remember when he played for us and Joe D called and told the Bills to make him wear a different number, because he felt it was an insult to watch the condo in his old uni. -

The Rev.Mattb74 ESQ. replied to firstngoal's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I support Marv and the Bills. If Marv thinks JP should go, then let him go. I will give a Hall of Fame coach the benefit of the doubt. I personally think Losman should get another chance, but Marv seems to have a plan and direction. I think TD did not have direction he just grabbed players, that did not mesh with the team or style. I am happy that it seems that the team is serious about rebuilding, and not trying to paint over glaring defiecency's(I hated it every time TD would say "I really like this team and think it is playoff caliber"). I still feel that this was the teams problem the last 5 years, TD never really wanted to do the work of buiding a team from scratch, he wanted to sign some big names and hoped the Bills qualified for a widcard birth. Maybe now we will see some direction, even if this team does not make the playoffs this year we will be able to talk next year about a bright future, instead of oh crap we have no chance and still suck. -
So if Preston ends up our starting C
The Rev.Mattb74 ESQ. replied to Rubes's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I think that they will probably have 8 offensive lineman on the roster come opening day, not counting Schneck. The three backups will probably be multiple position guys. Teague might make sense if no one signs him and you can bring him back cheap. -
Marv sucks, they NFL let Florida vote in the hall of fame inductees that year and the ballots had no pictures on them. The Bills will be no good my eight ball tells me so. If only we would have spent 8 million on a center we would be as good as the Saints where with him last year(er uh). Buffalo dont worry about you rising taxes and decline of services we will have a Bass Pro. I heard that Ralph was actually the head of some Lizard alien race, and they are just ging to get us to the stadium to find out what 60's song makes us chant the loudest, And TKO is in on it too because he comes from area 51.

I did not see that post. I am a Vols fan I have kept tabs on him. I like him and I saw that he was expected to go in like the 3rd round due to past injury on a different board. The way he is rated on that board the Bills have no way of getting him. Thanks for the info

I know everyone wants the Bills to get Neal, and while I am not against it why are tha Pats who are 21 million under the cap not bringing him back. I guess I am gun shy of ex pats because Bellicheck got the best of us a couple times already. -
