  1. I think it will refer to Ralphs five gallon change jar.
  2. The Bills first pick in 83 was Trent Hunter, traded the next year for Vince Ferragamo. The Bills did hit on alot of picks, but they wiffed on alot as well. It helped that the USFL folded and we where able to get guys like Kent Hull. Also the team already had some talent in Joe Devlin, Fred Smerlas, and Jim Ritcher. All in all everything aligned for them, but you are right they did draft alot better. They also had four less teams to compete with and you could draft and bring guys along slowly, because you owned thbe rights to a player nd did not need to worry about free agency.
  3. I know the Bills have talent issues, so I am not saying I am happy about not having fresh faces. I dont see outside of signing Haynesworth that anyone out there would of made a huge diffference on this team, and he was no where near worth 100 million. Also this hysteria about the rest of the division getting better I dont see either. This in my humble opinion is how I see things break down so far in the AFC East The Jets They hired a new coach from a system that puts out big named co-ordinators that are supposedly the second comming of Lambordi reguraly. Marvin Lewis and Ted Nolan have both fallen on they're face, they're defence will learn a new system for the third time in three years. They signed a LB that played next to Ray Lewis and Terrell Suggs, and behind a very good D-line and the best safety in football behind them. On offense they lost Brett Farve who maybe wasn't the old Brett Farve, but teams still had to respect his deep ball. All they have now is three unproven QBs and they will have a new signal caller for the third straight year. They also lost their starting gaurd, wide reciever and a pretty good second TE. Oh ya they are hoping that Thomas Jones can put up another 1000 yard year without a QB that can throw deep. The Dolphins I can't stand how everyone in the NFL falls all over Parcells jock like he can't do any wrong. He hasn't built a champion since wide right. Meanwhile coaches that have won a SB since(Gruden, Shannahan, and Billick come to mind) are not in the NFL, how in twenty years, and four teams after his last SB win he still is the NFL golden boy makes me sick. They have signed a couple of the middle of the road players most noteably Chowder who played for them last year(not really an upgrade). They are hoping that Pennington arm can keep it together another year, Ricky Williams will stay sane, and teams will still be lost on stopping that gimmick Wildcat offense. Also to be noted teams that have a big turn around in one season usually come back to earth the next year. The *Patriots The *Patsy's will be better next year because they get Brady back, not because they got Fred Taylor. I do like the signing of Baker he really would have been a nice pick-up for the Bills. However in the grand scheme of things its not huge. The Bills I am hoping we can get a good draft, I do hope we sign some quality players but there wasnt alot out there. Getting a starting interior lineman and depth players would be nice but its not like getting them is going to make Jauron a better coach. All in all I am not happy with the off-season but it has nothing to do with today's lack of signings, as a lack of a coaching and front office change. I could be wrong maybe Zebras can change there stripes and the staff will get it together. Talent wise however this team needs to get better talent through the Draft because there really isnt alot in FA anymore.
  4. Ralph is cheap when it comes to paying coaches, scouts, GM's, directors of player personal, assistant coaches, whatever ross Brandon does. However Ralph pays players about what most teams pay, sure hes not Daniel Snyder or Bob Kraft, but niether are 29 other owners. This team signs free agents, even Big name free agents- they're just not good when they get here. Maybe if he would pay the previous better he could pay the latter less and get better results.
  5. I think I just say ManRam.
  6. A little off topic but I was thinking since the Broncos are changing schemes defensively what are they planning on doing with Dummerville. He is not big enough to be an end in a 3-4, I wonder if they would be willing to part with him.
  7. Mayock, hands down is far and away better then any two draft gurus combined. He is informitive, easy to listen to, and he is spot on with his projections. Last year I believe he was 100% through the first round and only missed a couple of picks in the second round. Oh ya he doesnt come off like a pompus douche.
  8. I am down on the lack of total talent on this team. Juaron although not a good coach is a middle of the road coach, good at getting the most out of his players, bad at game day adjustments and time management. As long as Ralph is the owner he is the kind of coach we will get. Talent wise though there is no reason they should have this little talent on the team, it is almost like they try to not get good players and strive to make bad talent moves. Maybe giving Modrak nore control is what is needed, who knows.
  9. Friday at 0001, so it starts tonight, tomorrow.
  10. It could be right, but I am not putting to much stock in a blog saying some NFL source. Good find though
  11. It has been Ralphs MO for the whole life of this Franchise. The Bills where good twice, once when the league was formed they got off to a quick start. Then they sucked with Ralph being cheap and on occasion got lucky with good coaches and personal that would come here cheap for one reason or another Saban twice, and Knox. Then in the mid eighties he caught lightning in a bottle with a cast-off coach named Levy and a GM that no one had heard of in Polian. When it came time to pay these people(Saban twice, Knox, and Polian) Ralph showed that he wouldnt pay top money for good staff. So until we can catch lightning in a bottle with a young up and comer like Polian and Knox, or get someone who has pissed off a lot of people and cant get a job anywhere else, that we can hire probably twice, we will be stuck in medocrity.
  12. All of a sudden Boller sounds pretty good, Huh.
  13. I am curious where you heard that he wanted to go to Miami, do you have a link? I have heard that Miami is targeting him, but never where he wanted to go to Miami. It just seems odd to me that a player on the verge of getting his biggest payday of his life would cut down the list of his potential places to go. I know Buffalo is no gem to play either but if I was a player I wouldnt count Miami as a legit contender next year. Will Pennington hold it together another year, will Ricky try to find Budha or whoever again? Teams that have a big turn around after a disasterous year tend to come back to earth the next year, plus they play a much tougher schedule as well, plus *Brady is back. It just seems a little strange to me, that he would single out Miami, unless he is from Miami or the fans did what we did to get TKO here.
  14. I think I am on the fence about ML trouble with the law. While his incidents I feel are minor things, they do show poor judgement and stupidity for putting himself in bad situations. This young man seems to me not to be a bad person but makes bad decisions. I dont feel as last year he did anything but panic after he was not paying attention while he was driving then became scared and took off(this it totally my opinion and not based on any knowledge of what was going through his mind.) Then because of the money he makes he probably did the smart thing about keeping his mouth shut from a civil suit point of view, and I cant blame him for watching out for his pocketbook in todays sue happy societ. While I could even understand him having a weapon on him being who he is and probably a target, also smoking weed rarely concerns me because I am a libertarian and believe that if he wants smoke a little in the off-season who am I to judge. If it was only one incident or the other I would say big deal, dumb mistake and move on, but now two incidents makes me worry about his decision making process. I partied enough in my day and have done plenty of dumb things so I am not trying to pass judgement, but once I found out I was going to be a father I put that stuff away and concentrated on my career. I think this young man should prioritize what is important to him, and make decisions based on those lines. I wish him luck and hope he gets it together here in Buffalo because he is sure fun to watch.
  15. I dont think we lost anyone worth a pick last year, maybe Jim Leohnard and Coy Wire, and was Ceslak last year. Maybe a seventh or two, probably less when you figure we recieved Mitchell and Johnson coming back.
  16. Didnt he get benched for Coy Wire last year. I could be wrong but I thought I remember seeing that somewhere else.
  17. And a true FB would be nice, and not someone that is selling tickets at the theater.
  18. I am not overly scared about an uncapped year. Its not like we sign big money free agents now. We dont even keep our good players because they cost too much, if anything it gives us any good players we accidently draft two additional years on this team before they become free agents.
  19. Stay away from Penn State D-lineman they dont translate well to the NFL. Same could be said for Florida State guys. I like Orakpo, and Ayers. I also like the guy from LSU, Jackson I think is his name. I am actually hoping that Clay Matthews falls to us in the second round. If you get a top edge rusher in the first then a LB like Matthews in the second all of a sudden Buffalo has a very good front seven and somehow I would be excited again about this team.
  20. Harrison was drafted the same year as Keyshawn, Moulds, TO, and Muhammed. All which are out of the NFL are on their way out. Age has caught up with him, and I believe he would not be helpful to this team since even in his prime he was more of a down the field threat then someone that went over the middle. The team needs someone who will go over the middle instead of a sideline threat.
  21. I do not know if this has been posted before and I didnt want start a new thread for it. Kind of early to think to much about it, but if this guy is on the board past pick 5 you have to go get him anyway you can in my humble opinion .
  22. I am sorry and not trying to be disrespectful but to me coming in the middle of the pack in yards allowed is meaningless, when you come in 28th in sacks, 27th in interceptions and 23 in points allowed per game.
  23. I dont know, I heard that when Bullough was the coach the team purposely tanked games to get him fired because he was so hated( I believe it was on the Fred Smerlas show). However he did have some guys that went on to be good coaches like Kiffen and Glanville. If I remember right Fred said that Kay just could not make up his mind in what direction to go, and would change schemes constantly.
