  1. Ummm, here in Richmond I have LV-Bills.......but almost picked H8Miami. H8Miami It's available and it fits.
  2. Does that say he wouldn't get in. It's good enough to question his stats though. Take away the streak and signing autographs for 8 hours before every game and you have...... .274 20-80 A better than average fielder with below average range. You tell me another player that would be in with those numbers? Hell, Palmeiro's numbers kill those numbers, and before Palmeiro was proved to be a juicer, he was debated all of the time.
  3. No one is saying that he isn't a HOF player. We are all saying that he would be heavily debated without the streak. .274, 20-80 is not impressive. That could easily make for the rationale on why to not put Ripken in on the first ballot. He's gotta be the weakest first ballot player ever. Again, without that streak, you put two guys side by side with those numbers and no name next to them, and most voters would think you are crazy looking at Ripkens numbers. If I had a MLB team, and had to start it with that HOF list that was out today, I would probably pick at least five of those guys who DID NOT make the hall of fame today over Ripken to start my team. Easily.
  4. All pretty solid points. One thing about how retarded a ton of the voters are though have to deal with Ripkens own team, the Baltimore Orioles. Eddie Murray was hated by the media, but one of the most complete and dangerous hitters in major league baseball history from BOTH sides of the plate. Murray's career and impacting worth to the Orioles lineup ran circles around Cal's. However, because he wasn't a media darling, a lot of writers made it miserable for him to get in. A lot even campaigned against Eddie Murray. Which is complete BS, just because they didn't like him. So, of course, other parts of Ripkens game are inflated by being a media darling. Take away that streak, and all the goodwill and Ripken could easily be argued on whether he should be in or not. Of course, though, I, for one, think everything that Ripken did should have helped him get in. He's not this baseball god that a ton of people make him out to be though. In most cases, ON THE FIELD, he's not even close to the majority of hall of famers.
  5. LOL. Read a baseball book or some history on the game and you'll see.
  6. Am I missing something? Did I say he should be considered a 3 bagger? Do you even read posts. He was DRAFTED or brought through as a third baseman. So, considering he was thought of initially as a third baseman, he was probably drafted with some power in mind. The fact that he made the move to SS, made him stick out a little bit in that era. Again, that is to his credit, but it also doesn't make his numbers any more impressive.
  7. Gimmie a break, you are starting to sound like you know nothing about baseball now. Wagner and Vaughn are two of the best players EVER, and in any position. And again, Wagner is considered, by some, the best baseball player ever. And yes, that is end of story on Wagner.
  8. Not at all. Ripken should be in the hall, because he did do some things special. But he is also a media driven darling, for doing something that is a bit worthless really. Big deal, he played in all of those games in a row. I mean, that really didn't do anything to change or impact his team or the game of baseball. Period. He just played every day. Again, he was a .274 hitter that averaged about 20 HR's and 80 RBI and played every day. Without the streak.....that isn't all that impressive. Period.
  9. Oh, and Ripken was a third baseman. He was drafted as a third baseman, and played there before quickly moving over to SS. So, there could be where the power numbers came from. He wasn't slotted as a SS originally. To his credit though, he was able to move over there and play SS above average, with very average range.
  10. Take the streak away........................and we are talking one of the weakest inductees of all time. I made a mistake.....I thought you asked for another better defensive player than Ripken, thus I mentioned Maz never getting in on defense alone. But yeah man, Honus Wagner was by far, the best shortstop to ever play the game. Ripken might have been the best hitting shortstop in a time that SS sucked at the plate. Big Deal. It's kinda like saying the Bills were the best football team ever in the AFC when the confernece was busy losing 10 or so Super Bowls in a row in the 90's. It really doens't say much.
  11. I was gonna mention three of these, but obviously Ripken lovers would never give credence to this. Wagner is even considered by some, the best player in the history of the game, period.
  12. Bill Mazeroski, is considered by a ton of writers, players, etc, the best defensive second baseman of all time. Why didn't that alone get him into the hall? He had to be voted in by the senior committee. There aren't many defensive gurus, if any, in the hall. Without the streak, Ripken would be in the middle of a major debate on whether he'd ever get in.
  13. Oh really? Why then did Big Ten Penn State spank Tennessee? Why did Big Ten Wisconsin spank Arkansas? Care to explain that? You must have missed New Years day I'm guessing.
  14. This is a garbage post. In case you missed it, Penn State defeated Tennessee and Wisconsin defeated Arkansas. So, tell me again how the SEC is clearly superior? LSU could just be yet another team that has ZERO offense in the over-rated SEC. I've never seen OSU play that bad. Period. Hats off to Florida, but overall the Big Ten beat the SEC 2-1. And those other two games were New Years day bowls, not some scrub bowls on December 17th.
  15. Ripken is a career .274 hitter in 21 seasons. He only hit over .300 in 4 of those seasons (the other was a partial season). He's a player that pretty much averaged 20 HR's and 80's in his career. He did get the 3,000 hit mark though. He was the greatest moral player the game has ever seen. However, without the streak, was he really all that "great"?
  16. You take away coming to work everyday, and he really hasn't done much to stick out from the pack. He rarely, if ever, was the best player in the game in his era. I don't know, without the streak, would he even get in at all?
  17. Anyone could fill Tim Anderson's spot. He is an absolute zero. Fletcher.....well.....we could definately get worse there, but we could also get better.
  18. A.) Nice (Thank God) B.) Nice (I agree 100%) Although I liked Fletch. This would be two big upgrades.
  19. If i had to pick a coach to win me one football game for a million dollars, I'd pick Belicheck. I don't get it. The guy is the best in his profession. Who cares.
  20. Just curious, where does Willis fit in with his three kids and three moms? Every team has trouble with this crap. Belicheck's, while being as ass, is relatively trivial.
  21. LMAO.............pigs will fly. Middle East peace will be found. Ralph will find the fountain of youth. All that stuff. You know how it works. That's what we are all implying I guess.
