Bills Sign WR Philly Brown and Two Safeties
Lv-Bills replied to 26CornerBlitz's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Correct. And probably 4-0 and a firm favorite this week with an NFL caliber receiving corps. Never get complacent. Huge game this week, both for season direction and AFC record. Winnable. Much easier so, with NFL caliber players at a key position that hasn't been addressed. -
Bills Sign WR Philly Brown and Two Safeties
Lv-Bills replied to 26CornerBlitz's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Awesome. Another guy that might not be able to even be a YMCA flag all star. My god. Come on. By far, without an equal, we have the worst wide receiving corps in the league. Hands down. Especially without Matthews. It's hard to believe that even a leading Canadian League WR isn't better than Philly Brown? I get what we are doing, and like the direction, but we needed a WR before the season, and we still need three now. UGH! -
I had to shut off the WGR post game
Lv-Bills replied to PromoTheRobot's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I heard this as well. I'm not a WGR hater, and usually don't listen, only because it's been so miserable for everyone the last 15 years. But, I thought I'd turn it on postgame yesterday just to enjoy things for a day. And I heard numbnuts saying what you said above. I was like.......what in the hell is he talking about. It was so stupid and uninformed that it was borderline bizarre. -
Who will be at Carolina Game
Lv-Bills replied to WideRightRevenge's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Tickets on the exchange, stubhub, and Vivid all have plenty of tickets in the $80's (some $70s) in the 500 level. For the lower level, they are now down under $200 in a lot of cases. Tons are still way overpriced though. They'll keep coming down. Gotta be patient. -
I'm sure it probably will. But he was pretty damn good in college. Nobody could stop him and Snead in college. I live in Virginia now, and I remember Ball State went to Virginia and smoked them by 21. Snead had like 100 yards by halftime and got hurt in the 3rd, and Ball States's offense kept right on going, collected a check for $600,000 and walked out of UVA with a win. Wenning was a nice player. Biggish dude. No mobility. Smart. Average to good arm. But on time with everything. Loved every minute of it.

I love it. Keith was from my alma mater.....Ball State. And he ran a Ball State offense that was prolific, and one that beat a couple of Big Ten teams, ACC team, and a number of Conference USA teams, or American teams, or whatever the hell that conference is now called. Ball State's offense under Wenning was very good, no matter what team they played in or out of conference. His main target was Willie Snead, who is now with the Saints. If I remember right, Snead caught 90 balls one year with Wenning, and like 110 the next. Selfishly, I love that I get to see him one more time! YEEHAW!

After 18 seasons, living in Richmond VA, I gave mine up. Seniority took me from the upper deck corners all the way to the lower bowl, 30 yard line, Bills sideline, 14 rows up. Ticket rep called. Told me if I come back, he has two for me on the visitors side, 50 yard line, 17 rows up. I'm back in. 18 years and counting. It's like a crack addiction.

It's also really not that hard to do either. Whoever has a good to franchise quarterback is a tough game. Probably a loss on the road, and a slight chance for us to win at home. Teams that have an average quarterback should be a win for us at home, and a toss up on the road. Then, there's the bad QB teams. We should win those. Even when in Vegas nowadays. You are solely betting games based on what type of QB team A has, and whether or not he's at home or on the road, which adds or subtracts to his efficiency. OP pretty much hits that mark.

I can't do that, I have a job. I've already go sucked into this debate and have to stop. I believe the cherry picking was already posted here via video. Again, everyone from pee wee to pro has a highlight video. There are many instances where Gilmore has been called out, on film, and accused of lackluster effort. Where there's smoke, there's fire. It's well documented. He was awful last year, and nothing that I've seen elite out of him. Hell, he hasn't looked good since The Pettine and Scwhartz heat on the QB style defenses have been long gone for us. Too many people see it for it not to be true. That being said.......if there's one place......that he could have gone........that will help him thrive, he picked it. NE. Anywhere else, and you'd probably never hear his name again. He's obviously not stupid, he's in a good spot now, and he can't play like the turd teammate he's been the last few years on the field. If he was elite, he would have been a leader, not a blamer and quitter.
-
OK, so do you want me to go watch all 16 games from last year, and post the 50 times or so I know that Gilmore ran from contact, didn't fight off blocks to even attempt to hold an edge, or gave less than 100% effort. Because there are many. So, while videos are cute and all, there are good and bad videos for almost every player in the league. Hell, Mario Williams even exerted maximum effort here and there, that probably ended up on YouTube. Maybe I could point out that for how great Randy Moss' career was, I can probably produce 25 videos of him loafing or not trying. The video point isn't impressive, because there as many that shows he was bad. Neither was Gilmore last year. That being said, if he is as good as some people think he is, he picked the one absolute place where he can thrive. Great move going to NE for him. He wasn't his best here, that's for sure.
-
You can throw as many stats out there as you would like. It's not wrong. This guy.....on film......ran away from contact in the running game on many occasions last year. Liability. He's not physical at all. He's a terrible tackler. Unless you have a computer, tablet, or smartphone that can assess those things that can't be measured by stats, film doesn't lie. As for coverage. It's not a mistake that he, on a ton of occasions, seemed to always be in the middle of some mix up in communication of some sort. Matter of fact, according to him, and his jocksniffing defenders, things were never his fault. While some of that is true, and the truth is probably somewhere in the middle, he wasn't good last year. Period. When you have a player that is elite, you don't have nearly the Media, pundits, coaches, analysts or fans that question this much of a guys ability like people do Gilmore. You debate whether or not he's the best. Not whether or not he's even worth a crap.
-
The Patriots also signed Randy Moss. Who was a quitter and awful before he got to NE those couple of years he floundered in Oakland or wherever it was. Some players are bad, go there, and recover because of Belicheck. Gilmore was awful last year. Period. He's a quitter. He's afraid of physical play. He's a terrible tackler. And his coverage was subpar. That being said, many people in football think he has great skills, and that was an aberration. Belicheck thinks they can get those skills they need out of him. If Gilmore truly thinks he's an elite corner, this is a great move for him. He won't be allowed to pull the crap he pulled while here. He will probably thrive there. Doesn't mean he would have been good here, unless McDermott turns out to be the next Belicheck. Doesn't mean he wasn't awful all over the field last year. He was. Probably a good signing by the Pats.

Still not easy to say. Because until Part Time Sammy is ever on the field, and fully healthy (whether sitting out or on the field), the worst cast of WR's in the NFL doesn't help evaluate TT either. Part Time Sammy should take a lot more blame for the Bills not being to fully evaluate Tyrod. And so should Whaley. The WR's that were left after PT Sammy went down again, was probably the worst group in the NFL. None of that helped evaluate what TT could do last year, yet, they still had a decently efficient offense.

I'm not sure what's terrible and what's not. But I will say this. For the first time ever, I barely even watch ESPN anymore. I used to hate when people said that, because I would chuckle and say......ok.......what the hell do you watch for sports? But seriously, it's so bad anymore, it's pretty much unwatchable. My year in football the last couple of years has been great. When I'm not at games, I tune in about 5 minutes before gametime. I never watch pregame, and I almost never watch Sportscenter anymore. It does nothing for me. Outside of making everything on ESPN about their anchors (which means very little to anybody who isn't a jocksniffer) they also cram programming incessantly down your throat that most people could care less about. Case in point, NBA game is on ESPN for 2 hours or whatever it takes. Outside one or two games a year, the entire country could care less. Sportscenter comes on next. They lead with the drek NBA game that was just on, and rehash an NBA regular season game for the first 15 minutes of SC. No thanks. I don't even bother anymore! Sad. I loved the old SC, where you tuned in for highlights. Those days are gone, and so are their ratings.

Rob Quinn on Trubisky replacing Tyrod
Lv-Bills replied to Maury Ballstein's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
3 bad games out of 4 against teams with a clue. Huge Red Flags. He was awful in almost every one. I could care less about what he did against the other high schools that were on NC's schedule. Any college prospect can put together a highlight tape. Coaches could care less about those. Show me games where the kid plays against the best programs and show me all of the other film outside of the highlights that he sends you. That's where the real story is. This kid wasn't good against good teams. That's a red flag. Doesn't mean he won't be a good NFL QB, but he's far from a sure fire thing. -
Rob Quinn on Trubisky replacing Tyrod
Lv-Bills replied to Maury Ballstein's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Gee I can't wait for this guy in the NFL. North Carolina played a handful of games against good teams. And he was pretty much less than stellar in all of them, except for Florida State, where he was pretty lights out. So, call me a little less enthusiastic about this "dart thrower". His darts didn't seem to connect much against teams that have a clue in the NCAA. 24-40 for 156 yards against Georgia at home. 0 TD's, 0 INT's. 13-33 for 58 yards against Virginia Tech at home. 0 TD's, 2 INT's 23-39 for 280 yards against Stanford on a neutral field with 2 TD's and 2 INT's Lights Out Here though, almost unexplainably.... 31-38 for 405 yards, and 3 TD's at FSU. Great game. Of course though, he lit up Illinois, JMU (FCS), Pitt, Miami, UVA, Citadel (FCS), NC State, and Duke though. Because those teams are all so good. Mark me down as not really all that impressed. The ACC is awful outside of two schools. The defenses are awful for the most part. They played two schools in the FCS. He's a one year wonder that really wasn't all that great against some borderline top level competition. Red Flags all over if you ask me. He could end up special, but if this guys busts, you can't say there wasn't sufficient enough evidence to see that. -
After 19 years, I'm done. I told my rep I'm not renewing. They'll probably call back but I'm pretty certain I'm out. I live in VA, and although I love the games, it's been awful trying to motivate myself to make meaningless games the second half of the season. I've been going to less and less games the last few years. On top of that, the tickets have been almost worthless to try to sell in the second half of the season. And I'm at the 35 yard line, lower bowl, 17 rows up, Bills sideline. If it wasn't for Pittsburgh being on the schedule this year, you wouldn't even be able to give tickets away. I actually offered my last two games for free to some folks in Buffalo and they declined. Last year was the first year that I also traveled to a couple of college games on weekends that the Bills had home games, just to take in some cool atmospheres. I had a blast. I'll be doing more of that. I still love the Bills. Probably be a tougher decision if I lived there. But meaningless games aren't for me anymore. It's become a chore to go watch crap late in the year. And the tickets are worthless at that point as well. I've reached my breaking point.

Hero? (Pause for hysterical laughter) He's a fragile player that has missed a ton of games where we needed him badly. He can barely write or speak understandable English. Hero? Nah. Do we need him? Absolutely. It's most likely already too late, but I hope he can contribute when we actually need him most.

Wheres all the Todd Bowles fanboys at ?
Lv-Bills replied to Maury Ballstein's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
And last year, the Jets had a ridiculously easy schedule, thus their record. Bowles has done absolutely nothing so far in his short head coaching tenure. Nothing. -
Week 5: Rams' Game Preparation - Inactives Announced
Lv-Bills replied to 26CornerBlitz's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Suprises me. I thought the Bills would be bigger dawgs here. They are basically saying that the Bills are better than the Rams on a neutral field. And even with the +3 for the Rams being at home and the Bills flying across country, we are still only + 2.5? I don't buy it. This line will surely go up. I think. I can't see how many impartial people will think the Bills can cover that with the way the Rams defense is playing going back to last year. They must have zero offense. -
Called today on my way home. Good call. Told them I like DTV. Told them the bill is too high though. Told them I only have it for Sunday Ticket although I've never been unhappy. My deal: $50 off of my bill for 12 months. $5 off of my bill for 12 months. $9 off of my bill for 6 months. HBO Free for 4 months. Good rake. I'm happy again.
