  1. Correct, without a good team, guys like Smith are useless. We aren't really a good team yet. He's like a brand new playstation 3 for sale at retail pricing...... at a flea market.
  2. I understand this completely. The problem is, we never win any of these battles. Ever. And, you could always use guys on the D-line. Always. Especially when you can't get to the QB OR it's proven that you can't stop the run. I hope I'm premature in my criticism, but if we end up with Smith, and nobody else decent at LB AND O-line, then this is flat out stupid. You've gotta be kidding me.
  3. No, it just means the pick made a lot of us want to puke when it happened, and I just wanted to re-visit that fact. I'm still waiting for the Bills to address a need from last year, other than a backup position. I must not be thinking clearly.....I didn't think gimmicks were one of our weaknesses last year.
  4. Other than to make a smartass comment, free agency has started, otherwise it wouldn't be announced. Pen to paper tomorrow, big deal. And two, does Brad Smith stop the run, rush the passer, or play tackle on the O-Line or D-Line? This smells like a team that doesn't understand what makes Brad Smith so effective.......a good team. Kinda like when Washington fell in love, stupidly, with Antwaan Randle El.
  5. Why in the hell is this guy needed? Seriously? He's a toy, and toy's are usually effective on teams that are already good. Why, seriously? This, to me, reeks of needing to try and sell tickets to make us think we are getting a playmaker that is way overhyped. I don't get it. Sorry, I just don't get this organization. I'd rather have a top notch lineman than Spiller AND Smith. But hey, what do I know......I have the same amount of playoff wins in my armchair position as this organization has in it's last 11 years.
  6. Since only one team wins a championship each year, in each league, the real question to ask is simple: When was the last time a team "got better" with free agency??? Answer: It happens to multiple teams every year, in every sport. Period. End of story.
  7. I think you are even missing that stud LB New England has. The younger kid, was either a rookie last year or the year before......Absolutely sick.
  8. He'll be fine under Belicheck. Guaranteed. It's just a shame that his lazy, fatass gets rewarded for acting like a baby in Washington and now will contend for the Superbowl. That duo with Wilfork has a chance to become one of the most dominating duos in recent history. The Pats have enough coaching backbone and player leadership that Haynesworth will be a force again.
  9. And as long as you have a ton of cash, and there are free agents out there that are better than your last guy projected to make the roster, you should try to better yourself. Not the case in Buffalo though. That's the difference between us and NE and NY.
  10. Exactly. This has nothing to do with Free Agency and winning a Superbowl. If, as Nix says, the Bills are always looking for ways to get this football roster better, and the Bills have a ton of cash, he should be using Free Agency. Because, on a losing team, there is a ton of help out there to make this roster better. If they were genuine, they would upgrade the competition on this roster with free agents that are better than our 53rd guy on this team. They aren't. Doesn't mean we'll win the superbowl, it just means we'll be better. We will better the roster. It's a joke.
  11. Yeah, except that PTR obviously left out that the combo is WILFORK and the partner, which is now Haynesworth. Our duo is no place close to that tandem. Our duo hopefully will be solid, but they aren't Wilfork and Haynesworth (coached by Belicheck). Yeah, or RB's. In which NE has gotten away with retreads for the last ten years. Absolute sick defensive line. Absolutely. Anyone without blinders on would admit this. Unfortunately, they, along with the Jets are in our division.
  12. Oh I don't know. It has taken the Jets pretty much to the AFC Championship the last two years. God, that would totally suck. Those damn NFL playoffs, who would want those?
  13. God, unreal. You would think the rest of the NFL would fuggin quit giving players and picks to NE for god damn nothing. Hey, but I'm sure Thigpen will block him. Haynesworth and Wilfork is a devastating duo. UGH.
  14. I love your posts. You try belittle anyone who criticizes one of the worst (maybe bottom 5) organizations in all of pro sports, and make them feel like they aren't fans because they aren't superhomers. Come on Russ, just tell us it's you. Please. I swear PTR, you are the epitomy of a company line guy. You seriously should work for the Bills. You are their best spokesman, and certainly a hell of a lot better than Chris Brown. At least you don't try to act like a journalist, like Brown does. You just wear your heart on your sleeve. I admire you for not getting frustrated at these goofballs running this franchise. I wish I had your patience. I guess my 8, 10 hour drive to games each year and wasted money make me stew over this team way too much, as I ride back through giddy Pittsburgh and around and close in to Baltimore and their real NFL franchises on my way home from Buffalo each home game. Oh well, at least I can also revel in everyone in Washington being miserable too on my way home. It helps some I guess.
  15. Kinda like what people said about Maybin at the time? Although, I do like the Dareus pick. This org doesn't deserve the benefit of the doubt.
  16. Yeah, but apparently he settled for Thigpen. Lombardi is reporting that the Bills were heavy after Tavaris Jackson, lost out, as always, and Thigpen was plan B. I like Thigpen, only because he was good with Gailey., I don't, however, like the fact that our GM is already 0-2.
  17. Yes, because when you suck, and have no respect as an organization, you are going to have to overpay a bit to keep some guys until you earn back some credibility. Regardless of what Posluzny said was his reasoning for leaving today, he apparently chose Jacksonville over Buffalo and that says a lot. Buffalo is the joke of the league for coaches to come here. For players to come here unless they are trying to shed major baggage. For players to stay here. Period. Poz wasn't an all pro player, but he was solid. And we lost a solid player, whom we apparently liked, to another craptastic organization like Jax.......great. Just great.
  18. Yeah, because it really sounds like no one wanted to keep him. Come on Russ, just admit you are Russ Brandon.......... Please....
  19. Does it really matter if they were traded for or signed. They were acquired, and produced for them. Big time. And that's just it about Fred Taylor, Sammie Morris, and new little white dude that took Welker's place in the slot last year....(Edelman maybe....same guy cut from the Jets?).......they don't whiff much on who they bring in to play roles. And when they do, they cut them. Almost immediately. We aren't even coming close to replicating what the Patriots are doing. Are you kidding me? So, maybe your post exposes yet another flaw of our franchise. The pro personnel department. I mean, New England obviously evaluates well, and trades for players that can still produce...... Meanwhile, again, the Bills........well, we got Andra Davis, the RT from the Raiders (whose name escapes me), and Geoff Hangartner. Yeah, just like the Patriots. Doesn't really matter how you acquire the players, trade or free agency, it's all the same. The whole problem with the Bills is that they keep missing.......in EVERY area of the game, except running backs.....and for some reason, we seem to have to keep stockpiling those too, because they end up headcases or fading out after a promising year. And I agree about SD, Pitt, and Green Bay. Unfortunately, the Bills draft still hasn't produced anything resembling brilliance, and they don't get the benfit of the doubt, until they finally start hitting on something. There's your difference between GB, Pitt, SD......and say Buffalo or Cincy.
  20. Well Randy Moss, Wes Welker, and most of their running backs have all been free agents have they not? They seem to draft or develop lineman alot, and sign LB's and and offensive skill. Seems like a pretty decent plan. You have to sign some free agents worth a damn. You don't have to be Washington, but there is plenty of help, especially for a team like the Bills that could be had. And Andre Davis, and the stiff RT we got from the Raiders isn't going out and getting smart help. Yes, and the sad part of this is.......it was good times compared to the rest of the decade. At least we were relevant beyond week 6 of the NFL season.
  21. You mean the Drew Bledsoe that some other team, namely a good franchise, decided to move on from? Yeah, I remember that, another dumb decision by us. Doesn't mean that a guy like Clabo wouldn't be a great addition to help further along the process of the Bills getting better quicker. This franchise is indefensible. It's just too bad it's in a great football town that has to suffer with it's ineptness year after year. If this team was in Arizona, Jax or even Indy (where no one cared about football before Manning), it would folded long ago. The more I think about it, the more Ralph Wilson should be kissing Buffalo's assss. Because there aren't many other NFL cities that would endure this crap the way we have through most of the this owner's existence. This organization would be drawing 20,000 people per game in a lot of other NFL cities that don't care. Don't throw logic into a homeristic viewpoint. While I respect the loyalty of PTR, if he isn't Russ Brandon's son or brother, he should be. They should have PTR doing Chris Brown's job. He's much better at it. I do, I do. We signed TO when no one else would have given him as much money as we did. So, we kept him a Big Time free agent, AND he probably was the best player on our team anyway, which is sad. Spikes? What about him? He was a big time player, AND he was good here. So, what was the problem with Spikes? Well, we needed even more help. That's not Takeo's fault. Milloy? The Patriots moved on from him for a reason, and TD scooped him right up. Dumb decision. Period. Who's fault is that? They were outsmarted, imagine that, by New England......again. Vincent? See Milloy, but change teams. There are YOUNG free agents out there that we could get that could grow with the guys we are bringing in. Period. We don't need Donovan McNabb or 30 year old Albert Haynesworth. But don't tell me there aren't guys in Free Agency, that are also young, that wouldn't upgrade this football team. And a couple of them at offensive tackles. This team lacks the will to win. Not from Nix. Not from Gailey. And not from the fans. From the owner. End of story. It can't even really be argued. This team is leaderless from the top, and it sucks.
  22. Just called now. I really can't stand Direct TV and having to do this every year, but I took Fez's advice and just politely asked for a discount. I actually got 8 months at $20 off per month and Showtime and all related channels. So, I got NFL Sunday Ticket for $163.94 and Showtime and all it's channels for 3 months. They originally offered 6 months of $20 off, but I told them that it was only $179.99 last year. She put me on hold and gave me two more months of $20. I'm happy with $163.94. I think that's pretty good value. Just hate this call every year.
  23. And the jerseys that can be PURCHASED on mainstream NFL sites are not "authentic", period. They really shouldn't be referred to as authentic while playing the china, sweatshop, slave labor card. But anyway, Joe Public can purchase true authentic NFL jerseys, and if you know someone, or can friend someone, from Ripon or Wilson, they will even make some for you. This doesn't mean you have to have a lifelong friend from their company. You can meet them at trade shows, athletic conferences, etc. It's really not too hard, if this is your cup of tea. But talking to a Wilson rep today at work, he makes a good point. The real authentic NFL jerseys, worn by players, make horrible collectors items if you like to actually wear the jerseys you buy. Because when worn by a normal human being, without shoulder pads, they make you look like a tool because they bubble and bunch up all around the shoulders and where the jersey tapers under the armpits. They were actually making fun of one of their colleagues today when he wore his John Riggins jersey to a Skins game last year. Because his jersey was actually so rare in how it was made, he actually looked like he was wearing a Chinese knockoff because he looked so goofy in the thing.
