  1. Never said I knew. The only fact I go on was that he was on a putrid front office staff, for a long time, that continuously whiffed in the important rounds of the draft. So any way you look at it, he sucked evaluating talent, OR, he couldn't convince anyone to take anyone that he thought was good. Either way, he was a zero for us. And I'm so sick of hearing how well our staff does late. #1 - When your team sucks, there will be many late rounders who can probably make a less talented roster. #2 - We need someone to not whiff in the early rounds. The playmaker rounds. Every teams finds those late round gems and unsung heroes. We are no better than anyone else. But really, look no further than our current roster to know that anyone on this staff that was here as long as Modrak should have a TON more to show for their body of work than he did.
  2. He didn't seem to know too much about "college scouting" either. Odd. A college scout, not scouting well.
  3. So, the front page article on TBD today explaining Ralph Wilson's gift to the Hall of Fame. Great. Unless I missed it, and I kind of got irked and skimmed the majority of it, but it says he made a significant contribution supporting the 27 million dollar Hall of Fame building preserving football history. Now, I actually do see that it's 2.5 million dollars. I think that's really cool. I actually think Ralph feels like the AFL part of the league will totally be forgotten one day. So, he wants to preserve it. I get it. Awesome gesture. My problem with it is this. Why not build it in Buffalo, next to the Ralph Wilson Stadium? 2.5 million dollars gets you a lot of building. I build recreation centers and athletic complexes for a living. 2.5 million can get you a nice structure. So, why not imporove your own place? Why not give Buffalonians jobs, both building it and working in it? Why not let it pay taxes in Buffalo? A 2.5 million dollar start to a Buffalo Bills Hall of Fame would be quaint, but still pretty darn nice. Especially if it's built where it could be expanded one day. It would enhance the grounds, give another tourist option for fans and visitors alike, and upgrade an old stadium. I just don't get the decision making process sometimes. It's almost like Ralph is pissed off he's in Buffalo a lot of times. Bottom line........the football world is in better shape today because of Ralph's gift to the Hall of Fame. Kudos. But why not invest in your own team and city instead of giving 2.5 to Canton? I mean, the Pro Football Hall of Fame is alright, but it doesn't blow anyone away by any means. I've been there times, and pretty underwhelmed by the Hall itself. Loved the game the Bills played the Titans, but the Hall is cool, but nothing special. I would love to see a structure near the stadium, that would enhance the grounds a bit. AKA, a start to the Green Bay model. Hell, if anything, replace the bench seating in the stadium with real seats and cupholders. Hell, I don't know. Just invest it in your own house. Oh well, not a biggie. Just don't get it sometimes. A minor vent. And I'm usually not a Ralph hater.
  4. If the Packers get and stay healthy, the battles between them and the Eagles should be fantastic football. Eagles fans have been lucky since Lurie (sp?) has taken over.
  5. Stick to your guns. I agree with you.....the Bengals are absolutely horrible. They have no chance in hell this season.
  6. Yeah, except McKinnie wasn't a bust, and we again chose stupidly despite needing McKinnie's OT position. Thank You for this post. The homer alert was sounded and you came to the rescue.
  7. LMAO. Wow. There is an awesome Pittsburgh themed store in Pennsylvania at Breezewood just off of the PA Turnpike and I-70. The store is huge and has a gazillion things for the Pirates, Pens, Steelers, Penn State and Pitt. It's one of the coolest stores I've ever been in as far as merchandise and collectors stuff. They also have things from every other other NFL team and some other baseball teams, including Philly, NY, Baltimore etc. Being from Pittsburgh, I buy Pirates, Penguins and Penn State stuff there all the time. They also have jerseys out the waazoo. I noticed this last time, as I stopped in, that they are the knockoffs from China. ALL of them. Every sport. I will also be honest, that some of them look like garbage, and some look decent, but you can still tell they are not the NFL store bought jerseys. All with ripoff tags from Mitchell and Ness and Reebok etc. I have some Mitchell and Ness jerseys, so I know that these aren't even close (or at least this current batch), although they are decent. It's just the first time I have seen knockoffs, at such a large quantity actually in a retail store. They even make a few Pirates players, with a Mitchell and Ness tag, that Mitchell and Ness never made. lol Interesting stuff. Awesome store, but I never bought a jersey in there yet. I almost bought a Clemente a few weeks ago on my way up to a Pirates game, but just couldn't do it. They are a tad too fake for me. Well priced though. Still a cool store for anyting not jersey related.
  8. If you are talking about the actual jerseys that players really wear on the field, Reebok doesn't even make their "real" jerseys. Two other companies make them, and they are made in Berlin Wisconsin, tagged as Reebok and sold to Reebok. At least the uni's the players wear are made there. You may be correct about the "authentics" that Reebok sells the general public and markets them as the "uniforms the pros wear on the field", which is not true. Those may be made in China, who knows. I tend to probably think they are made in China too. Nonetheless, Reebook seems like a pretty big douche at this point either way you go, because I had the rough cost of the actual player jerseys told to me, and nonetheless, they are making tons of money, off of the public and off of the NFL. Especially the public side. The replica markup is more than furniture stores rip off their customers.
  9. I received an email a couple of days ago that said my last three installment payments are due on 7/29, 8/29, and 9/29.
  10. So, it seems that we really don't need to spend any money yet...... Why spend money after all? If this has been posted already, feel free to move.
  11. Are you Heath Miller that you were 10 feet away from Colon, or do you just make it a habit to go to Heinz Field and focus on Willie Colon despite all that other talent being all over the field? Especially when other good teams come to Pittsburgh like Baltimore, the Jets, NE, etc. You just a big Colon fan?
  12. Get used to this from Simon. For whatever reason, he's a moderator that's been always allowed to act like this. Par for the course with him. Hell, these posts will probably also disappear as usually you can't critcize him for his childish responses either.
  13. I almost put that in there too, but I didn't. It's getting tough for the blind homers to swallow alot of this stuff. Hell, it's getting hard for me to swallow this crap. This organization is so depressing. I've never seen anything in sports so friggin sad.
  14. LMAO. PTR, I'm on your side on this one!!!
  15. Amen. And Nix lost on three players so far. He lost Poz to Jax, and tried to keep him. He lost of Tavaris Jackson (Thank god) and had to get Thigpen instead as reported by Howard Balser. And he loses on Clabo. But hey, he swooped in and slammed the door shut on Brad Smith. A guy who can't win a position but can return kicks as good as McGee and Mckelvin used to do. Comical.
  16. Derek in VA says we're comical because we never win any of these players over that are of any consequence. And he's right. Here's a fact about Clabo. We certainly didn't offer Clabo an offer that he couldn't refuse. I am certain of that. And until we do, we aren't good enough in the front office nor on the field to land anyone of any kind of star substance. Comical indeed.
  17. I'm with ya Billy. I'm right there with ya.
  18. That's because they've probably already got two guys making that much money. I know Brady is one. We don't. Big difference. And the cap hit per year for most other teams would not include all the bonus money being paid in year one. That's ole Ralphie's nice little way to take out any kind of creativity out of the picture, to do anything like that. But what would it take to get Clabo and Miller? A 16-18 million dollar cap hit per year on a team that has zero superstars. That would be doable for a lot of teams. Hell, alot of that is tied up in Smith and Kelsay alone right? THAT'S my problem with Smith-esque signings. No, but he's good, and capable of very good numbers. If he's on your team, believe me, he'll get used.
  19. Yeah, all except for Clabo and Miller aren't 30 plus year old year old immobile QB's and LB's etc that are being let go off of their rosters like Bledsoe, Robinson, etc. What could I be thinking. But hey, the one legit younger guy, entering his prime that they did target, and an actual big splash guy, Takeo Spikes was pretty good right? Yeah, kinda thought so.
  20. What offense doesn't need a good TE? Most offenses don't have a good TE, that's why they don't use them. Didn't someone point out earlier today that Tony G had like 93 catches for over 1,000 yards and multiple TD's when Gailey was in KC? If that's true, which it probably is when he had Thigpen there, do you kinda see how Gailey does indeed like TE's and knows how to use them? Of course, I didn't verify those stats though, so I don't know if it's true.
  21. I agree we won't do it, but we need to do it. That's why we are the Bills. This year in particular, it actually could be done, but teams like the Bills won't do it. The Pats and Jets do things like that. I get it. And it sucks. We have the money and space to sign two guys like Clabo and Miller, and overpay both if need be. We just won't pull the trigger and do it. Instead we keep getting these tweeners in spots of non need. If you don't take a chance and go for it, you'll never be great. This franchise, in the shape it's in, needs a "splash". For reasons all around from on field performance to marketing and ticket sales. If there was ever a time to splash, there is no other team that would need it worse than irrelevant Buffalo at this time.
  22. And I don't mind the signing, it's just not what we NEED. I'm sick of getting things we don't need when we actually need so much elsewhere. That's what pisses me off about it. I'd rather overpay for Zach Miller and Tyson Clabo with Smith's money than have Smith on this team. Plain and simple. I'd offer Clabo and Miller both 1.5 or 2 million more per year than other teams with Smith's money and that would certainly have a bigger impact, than having Smith on this team. Thats my problem with this. And yes, I would overpay for guys like Miller and Clabo at this point, simple because we have to at this point, and we have the money to do it. We have to break out of this somehow, and probably overpaying is the only way we do it. It's not Smith the player I don't like, it's the premise of the resources he takes away from us to go get legit pieces we need elsewhere on this roster, before a guy like Smith can help.
