Tim Graham: Kyle Williams for the Pro Bowl
Original Byrd Man replied to Fingon's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The DT's primary job is to tie up the O line, so the LB's can make plays. Our LB's are not that good. This issue will hopefully be addressed come draft day. Last week I just focused on Poz, and maybe he was just having a bad day, but he seemed to hang back then look for an O lineman to block him. On one particular play there was a rather large hole he could have attacked and made a TFL instead he hung back and made the tackle after a 5-6 yrd gain. I had high hopes for him but Ive run out of patience. -
I worked with a guy years ago who was a Webb fan. One day on ESPN they were showcasing Webbs career and most of the clips were against who else but Bruce. Well on most of the plays Webb had the help from Simms the left guard, and on the plays where he was one on one he held Bruce each time. He was truely a sight to behold. I would have a hard time choosing between BS or OJ as both were legendary talents. I'm just happy to have been able to watch both of their careers.

is anyone thinking Sophmore Slump?
Original Byrd Man replied to High Mark's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I might be inclined to agree with you, if we're talking about Luck, but Mallet has issues along with the rest of the QB crop this year. I'm not sure any of them other than Luck, who may or may not be coming out, are worthy of a top 10 pick. Fitz could be our poor mans Peyton Manning. The dude is cerebral with a great feel for the game. Listen to his teammates, he has them believing anything is possible. I say Go D in a big way this draft with a few offensive players sprinkled in, and you could see a huge turn around in this team in a couple of years -
Is Everybody Happy With Gailey?
Original Byrd Man replied to Geno Smith's Arm's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
When the Bills were shopping for a HC my 1st choice was Shottenheimer, but I was happy with CG when Marty was passed on. I liked what he did offensively throughout his career, and it seems he's making great progress with it here. A HC is only as good as his supporting staff and while there remain questions about our DC I feel the biggest problem there is with personnel, or lack there of. This team has adopted a never say die attitude which is easy to identify with. Is this CG or Fitz's doing? Maybe a combo of both. I'm hoping to see continued progress and an improvement in talent and depth with the up coming draft. I would live to see some impact players on "D" appear come draft day. -
First time watching Luck was yesterday
Original Byrd Man replied to JÂy RÛßeÒ's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Good question? Reading the Carson Palmer article proves you never know what you're going to get. Luck looks great and I would be Glad to see him in a Bills uni, but anyone else coming out this year has BIG questions regarding their game. I'd be happier with Fitz/ Brohm and some help elsewhere if Luck isn't available. With so many needs, to take any other QB would be foolish. JMO -
Gotta love this quote from Wood
Original Byrd Man replied to Mike in Syracuse's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I feel the team believes in him because of the vast improvement in the passing game under Fitz, and You gotta believe they love his gutsy play. TE got a little reckless at times but Fitz's mentality reminds me of Jimbo's, where he will do anything for a win. It's one thing to sell out for a TD or a first down, but how can you not love the block leading a CJ run that had the Lion's DB doing a mid-air cartwheel. The guy has grit. -
Bills Lions rebroadcast
Original Byrd Man replied to Original Byrd Man's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Thats what I thought, but I was hoping I was wrong. Thanks -
Does any one know if the game will be re-aired for the blacked out areas? Also did anyone see Fitz as the lead blocker for CJ? That CB did a cartwheel ion midair. Had to be one of the higlights of the game.

When can we seen Brian Brohm?
Original Byrd Man replied to The Wang From Sang's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
There are players that don't practice well but come alive on gameday. There also players like TE that practice well but struggle on Game day -
I've been strongly in favor of finding out what, if anything, Brohm has but Fitzie has got me second guessing. He still has his set backs but he makes things happen. A buddy of mine is a Trent fan all the way and claims it was all on the Oline, but Fitz just shredded a very good D, on the road behind, that same line!

What Fitz has that no other QB since Bledsoe
Original Byrd Man replied to Mikie2times's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
At first I thought it was going to be intelligence, then I realized Drew wasn't that sharp. I like Fitz because he is a gamer, his teammates seem to pick up on that as well, and he is reads the D's so well, that he is able to create some nice plays. -
The fines are a joke. Rodney Harrison stated on air that he set aside $50K before the start of the season to cover his fines. That's a drop in the bucket. Make it count with a lenghty suspension instead. I suggest the offending player several games to make a real impact. Same goes for Hockey. Hits to the head need to stop now. I'm all for physicality but the intent to injure has gone overboard.

Well said. From Vegas55's post, I can only assume the Team of the 90's just happened by accident. And before that, the 64 & 65 AFL championship team's. Not saying the Bills haven't had their moments, throughout their history, but there have been many good times as well.

2nd worst move by the Bills in my lifetime
Original Byrd Man replied to Mister Defense's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I feel your pain as well. Although Collins looked very promising early on in his career he went on a downward spiral after several viscious hit's he took when playing the Chiefs one day at Rich stadium, and was never the same since. He has had a journeyman career, and while RJ turned out to be a total bust there was that glimmer of hope..... I hated to see ML go, but many of the media and the fan base wanted him traded. I'm sure he will shine with the Hawks, and we will live to regret the move, but I feel it was in the cards as soon as the Bills took Spiller. -
That's a nice idea. Two years ago I sent my remaining tickets back to Brandon with a letter's to him and Wilson, imploring them not to resign Jauron. In the letter I stated, I would rather throw the ticket away than continue to watch the train wreck. You all know where that went. I guess a charity would be a better option.

I was disappointed to hear, after the Jest's game that Our D/C had the team prepared for a power game, but they threw them a curve ball and used the same miss direction runs we were so susceptable to last year. This was from the mouth of Kyle Williams in his post game interview. Shouldn't our D/C know what our tendencies are?
-
I disagree with you contention that ML has a poor attitude. I have never read anything negative regarding the team or his teammates. I would go so far as to say he and FJ have had at, least for appearance sake, a friendly relationship inspite of competing for the same job. That certainly seems to be a resonably good attitude.

You have to realize many of the players you mention have done well because of the talent around them. Leonard is a good example. We cut him because of his lack of speed. He was a liablity in coverage. The Jets are able to buffer him, we couldn't. Milloy is old. I loved Spikes, but he was coming off a potentially career altering injury at the end of his contract and asked for his release, as he didn't like the D we were running. Even so it took him years to get back to a being somewhat close to the player he was. Winfield was a top notch cover corner with stone hands who wanted top CB money at the time. I still wish we had Greer, the guy was a player even if he had problems with injuries. The biggest problem has been not extending the right people before they get to the 9th hour. I was never a big Fletcher fan. He is not an impact player, and he reminds me of Pos. Too many plays, to far up the field. Give me the guy shedding blockers and making plays at the LOS, or in the "O" backfield. So I believe your answer is, if we were to have all these people back, some would be players, but most of them not, and Our D might be better but not significantly. IMHO

Bills 4th rounders the past 25 years
Original Byrd Man replied to dave mcbride's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I'd be willing to bet if you researched the rest of the NFL would see a similar pattern. There are reasons these player fall this far, and every once in a while you find a diamond in the rough. The rest is just sediment to be discarded. There is certainly no guarantee this pick will turn up anything usable, but at least there's a possibility. -
Bills 4th rounders the past 25 years
Original Byrd Man replied to dave mcbride's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Actually that last year is an optional year that ML could pick up or not. I'm thinking "NOT" would have been his reply. I hate to see him go, but RB's are a dime a dozen in todays NFL. Did the Hawks try to deal Julius Jones? No they just dumped him. When we took CJ, it was leading to this point all along I'm afraid. Good-bye and good luck ML for the better you do the better the conditional in 2012. -
I've been a ML fan from the beginning and hate to see him go, but the deal makes sense. He is in the last year of his deal, and with CJ and FJ on board for the future someone had to go. Getting something now is better than nothing later. The Pats got a 4th for Maroney and had to send a 6th as well. We got a 4th and a conditional as well. The market for RB's is not good. You're afraid more moves are coming, well I'm hoping more are in the works. This team needs a major overhaul. It's time to see what the younger half of the roster has to offer and to move so much of this dead wood. I would jump for joy if the next move was the release of Kelsay. I will not be surprised if Evans is moved before the draft in 2011. As much as it pains me to admit it, this team is going no where in the present, or near future. I'm just hoping the coach and GM have a viable plan in place. Stay tuned Bills fans, things could get rocky.

Why Rebuilding Has Taken a Decade +
Original Byrd Man replied to Arkady Renko's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The root of the problem is the constant change of Coach and GM. Each ego believes his way is the best way, and he is replacing someone who must have been wrong or he would still have his job. their is no continuity, no master plan for the long haul as it never last that long. -
I don't understand the problem. We just signed Kelsay to a hefty extension, how can our run D still be garbage???? Oh yea I forgot he is still out on the field looking for his jock strap. This front office is a joke. This team needs to be gutted and start over. We have become to satisfied with the status quo. There are only a few players here that could start for another team.
