  1. I am not infavor of taking any of the QB's coming out this year with the #3 pick as they are not worth it talent wise. Now If Luck were there it would be a different story. I like Fitz and think we can go far with him but, Luck is an exceptional talent. The 49'ers took their "franchise QB", that so many on the board are begging for this year, a few years ago. How is that working out for them? Just because you played QB in college and did well doesn't mean you will cut it in the NFL. I hope they find a player, no make that several players that successfully fill some of our glaring holes this draft.
  2. Mistakes do happen when assessing talent, but many of the teams problem stem from instability at the head coaching position. It's hard to build consistency when there is constant turn over. Each scheme usually employs specific talents. Change the scheme and the players you had for the old scheme are now not a good fit. Some people just can't play at this level, even though expectations were high on draft day. Also GM's/head scouts sometimes get overruled by HC's(see Maybin). Not defending Modrak, but we can't hang Flowers on him, as he was a Butler pick before he left for SD. Also I believe Losman was a Donahoe decision. Take a look at the Steelers. Even when their HC leaves there is consistancy because he chose his successor so as not to cause monumental changes due to having the same philosophy both offensively and defencively.
  3. Don't be so quick to trade Evans. While his numbers are still down, if you watch several of Stevies TD's from last year you'll see why, as the DB covering SJ release's to help out on Evans, who already has 2 or 3 guys on him, leaving Stevie wide open. Lee is still the wide that teams worry about because of his speed. Maybe Easley helps add more speed to the lineup, but he hasn't played yet so it's anybody's guess. I'll admit adding Green is like the Spiller pick all over again, where I would like to see the team address areas of need rather than strength, AJ would do quite a bit to open things up for Evans down the field. I still remember those back to back 83 yard TD's against the Texans. That day opened the eyes of the NFL to his talents, and he has been a marked man ever since. We all need to be a little more patient. Many posters are clammoring for a true NT while the FO feel they already have their man in Troup. Remember DT's don't make an immediate impact very often. They need time to get stronger and develope their game. Give the man a chance before for throw him out for the next version so you can start the process all over again. I agree with your take on KW. He would be a good Sapp type player but I think he can be effective as a 3-4 DE as well.
  4. Say what you want about Lynch, but he is still a very good back who played behind a horrible line with Capt'n Check down for a QB. Can you say 8 or 9 men in the box? There is no way to judge how Mallet will do at the NFL level. He may be the next Tom Brady or the next Ryan Leaf. If he is the latter we wasted another #1 pick. Better safe than sorry.
  5. In the beginning Trent did appear to be, as many would agree. Wasn't implying CJ will be a bust, only that it wasn't a position of need. Had we used it on a LB or DL the team would have been better served IMO. And as far as Fitz is concerned he is serviceable at this point with room to improve. Evans is the only big name wide out he has to work with. I love Stevie but he will never be a #1.
  6. Which of the QB's coming out this year do you consider "elite"? And on your 2nd point, I've got a news flash for you. If our D didn't give up 175 yards rushing per game, eating up the clock, maybe just maybe the offense might get a few more touches and put up a few more TD's.
  7. I'm sure Jim Kelly doesn't know "anything" about football, but he stated there is not a QB worthy of the #3 pick in the 1st round this year, and there are too many holes to fix to worry about solving a problem that doesn't exist. We also should have kept Lynch and not drafted CJ, ignoring the numerous holes as well last year.
  8. The real problem is out of control salaries to new grads who haven't proved they are deserving. They should be paid the league Minimum at most and work their way up. This might discourage Agents from tampering as well, as the rewards would be lower.
  9. If Aaron Rogers is re-entering the draft this year then I'm all for picking him. If not then let the QB imposters entered this year go some where else. Fix the Defence and the O line and all things will fall into place.
  10. The Ravens drafted their golden boy franchise QB. Can you in all honesty tell me he is better than Fitz???? Because he flat out sucked last night. If the Ravens didn't have a rock solid D, along with a Rice/ Mcgahee combo Joe Flacco would be considered a bust.
  11. Marv used to exclaim that the Bills were so tough we had to cut superman!
  12. Instead of Cam, maybe we could through a mid round pick to the Titans for Vince. I'm sure their are plenty of fans in the stands that would love to have a set of NFL regulation shoulder pads and a jersey. Maybe he would throw in a helmet as well! Git er done Buddy
  13. My problem with Bledsoe was with the cerebral part of the game, which today is so important. Fitz makes our O line look much better than it is because of it. Brohm lacks the experience and knowledge that Fitz has and he got rocked. I'm not a fan of running QB's as I think they miss to many opportunities when they run. As you said the smart ones anticipate where the pressure is coming from and when, and make adjustments. That being said, I will be shocked if we take a QB at #3, mostly because it will be a monumental reach. The pundits all say you have to take a QB when you're drafting that high as it may be the last chance to do so. I say ask the Raiders or the 49'ers what "they" think about that. I disagree. Bledsoe never had that ability. If you watched him through out his career his game ebbed and flowed, depending on his protection. If he had all day to survey the field he was lights out. On the other hand if you could get in his face, he crumbled like a house of cards. Quick decision making was never his forte.
  14. I also believe Dareus is a much better fit for our D than Bowers who is a 4-3 DE.
  15. The next two games should provide some data on what we could expect from SJ in the "spotlight". I get what you're implying about Evans. He seems to be a 1 trick pony, but his speed still draws the double team which allows our other wide's to roam alittle more freely. It will be interesting to see how the group continues to respond to increased attention from the opposing DC. For the record I very much like our group of wide outs and while many are looking for the next great QB in the teams history, I like Fitz. Most people felt Montana would be a bust coming out of ND. He was under sized with less than stellar arm strenght, but that didn't turn out to bad for San Fran.
  16. Stevie Johnson has been a pleasant surprise, but he will never be the next Brandon Marshall or Calvin Johnson, as he has neither the size or speed to dominate in the NFL. He just makes plays! Is this enough, or will the Bills need to find a Dynamic threat at wide out down the road, so they can slide Stevie back to #2? What do you think?
  17. I'll give him the record if we get the win.
  18. I'm not saying I wouldn't love to find a solid RT somewhere(but not the first two rounds) in the draft. Just saying he seemed to do a servicable job against the leagues #1 rusher, and deserved a little love. If you look at films I'd be willing to bet quite a few RT's go some help against Wake this year and didn't do as well.
  19. Amen to that my friend.
  20. Not bad for another reclamation project. Did Wake even play??? I know he had some help along the way, but I'm sure others before him did also, and didn't fare as well. All in all I thought he turned in a pretty decent performance. Bring us your tired, your weary, your down trodden, yearning to be free. This team of cast offs and unwanted's just keep playing in your face football. You gotte love it! I would love to see a sweep of the AFC East to finish the season. This band of over achievers deserves some credit.
  21. I agree with your assessment. The Pats will be looking to secure the division and home field advantage as the Jests are still with in striking distance of them so there will be no sliding. But that will make a victory even sweeter. Go Bills
  22. I love that one!! I'll never forget the futility of it all. Robinson reminded my of Helen Keller.
  23. I wouldn't close the book on Sanchez yet. He is still young but his recent peformances have to be diving Jests fans nuts. Henne on the other hand never impressed me. I would take Fitz hands down over either of them. This up coming draft should be heavy on D. Although I wouldn't be too upset over a #1 wide out.
  24. Just a question about the penalty and subsequent fine on Ganther for his hit on Vikes punter during a return. It was not a late hit, or a block in the back penalty, so it must have happened during the play, and was technically sound, so why the issue? How can you not be allowed to block the punter? I understand the desire to protect them, but he is part of the kicking team and does make tackles. Is there a time and place when it is illegal, and another when it isn't? If anyone can shed some light on this I would appreciate it. Thanks
  25. I found it interesting that the FO has approached DW, the site's fav whipping boy, but not Pos, about a new deal so I zeroed in on PP during the Steelers game. I was not impressed at all. He reminded me of a white version of London Fletcher. A ton of tackles but mostly after significant gains. I would like to see more negative yardage plays from our LB crew. I'm hoping for a significant upgrade at the draft in April.
