  1. Not only do they have character, but they have ATTITUDE as well. like David Nelson after that shot on the sideline that knocked his helmet off jumping up and challenging the crowd to get as fired up as he was. Like Fitzie leading a sweep as he takes out a LB. Freddy when ever he touches the ball. And I could go on. You gotta love it.
  2. I like Fergy but his first year the only thing he did was hand the ball to OJ.
  3. I've got to agree with you. I was at that game as well in the upper deck and when the gun went off the stadium went berzerk. People were jumping so much you could feel the concrete sway up and down. I remember wondering if the section I was in was going to collapse. There may be games with a more historic impact but for sheer emotion it's got to be between this game or the Comeback.
  4. With a new deal for Williams, working on a new deal for Parrish and rumours of a new deal for Johnson but no word on Fitz it appears to me they are willing to wait for seasons end. If he sucks he will be gone and if he lights it up he will jump at the biggest offer and I don't see it comming from the Bills. Any opinions????
  5. Now that the Jets have agreed to a deal with AAron Maybin, if they are able to pry Vernon Gohlston away from Chicago we could see a D line with Maybin at one end and Gohlston at the other. GASP! Maybe they could team up and get their first sack at the same time.
  6. No offense but I think if you go back and look at stevie's big plays from last year you will see it was Evans who drew the double and Stevie's DB actually left him open to go become the 3rd db on Evans. I Can't say for certain but Stevie's impact seemed to drop when Evans went down for the season. Evans was a class act and I hope he does well in B'more, I also hope the Bills have an answer for his loss.
  7. I wouldn't be so quick to blow him off. There are nuggets to be had every year. You just have to polish them to gem quality. By all accounts this kid is not sloppy. He has a 32" verticle leap. That in itself I find amazing. Can you two hand dunk a basketball? He$$, I can't even touch the rim!!!I'm not claiming he is coming in to start but give the kid some credit. He is big, strong, and bright, with enough desire to lose about 75 lbs.
  8. While I'm not saying our DL can't use some help, in a 3/4 D the LB's are the heart of the D and our LB's are pedestrian at best. We drafted Troup, he just needs time to develop. What we really need are some run stuffing ILB's but this a very weak year to invest in that area. Fairly is a Kyle Williams duplicate so the pick would not be adressing a need. Dareus or Miller would be needed upgrades but if they are gone, which I believe they will be Peterson makes sense at that spot. Or we could go AJ Green to help the O. JMHO
  9. I'm with you on your second point. The talent is pretty evenly distributed through the first few rounds with potential help at the 34th pick. I have been a proponent to trade down when possible, not up. As for your first point, if Dareus and Miller are both gone I would be OK with Peterson. This guy is considered by many to be "the" elite player in this draft. It would be a little high for a cb but historically the results have been very favorable for top 10 cb's. While it doesn't seem to be a huge hole, look at the lost time for McGee the last couple years and the inconsistancy of Mclovin. Florence has been solid but he is also getting gray, as is McGee. It may be time for a change. While many are clammoring for a pass rusher, maybe what we need is better coverage to give the rushers more time to get sacks. It is very much a two way street.
  10. Read an article on Eric Molds and I couldn't help remembering the reaction of Wannie at the time the Bills selected him. He said he wouldn't have taken E if he were the only player on the board. I wonder if any bad blood still lingers between the two. For those that don't remember, Wannie was coaching a college bowl game in which Eric was playing when he questioned Erics character.
  11. I would love to see this happen for two reasons. First I dont feel there is a QB in this draft worth higher than a mid range ist round grade, and secondly I don't feel there is a huge difference talent wise between "all" the DL/OLB players many would like to see the Bills take. So by moving down you can still get great value at a lower price and get extra picks. If offered it's a no brainer.
  12. This post was asking do you go Solid with few risks or impact with more bust potential. If you take the blinders off you would see that Whitner has had a solid career. I didn't mention spectaular. If Whitner had been taken in the 2nd or 3rd round there would be an entirely different opinion of his career to date, but because he was a top ten pick there are and should be higher expectations of his performance. I remain a huge Hansen fan and always felt he was the "Class" of the organization but his career was solid but not spectacular. I have never heard anyone pushing for enshrinement in his case. That being said I still believe Whitner and Hansen have had similar careers in that both have been solid. Lets not forget the fact that Hansen also had much more talent surrounding him. I don't want to appear as a Whitner fan, as I think he has under performed for his position in the draft selection, but he is a solid player none the less. At #3 I would rather see an "impact" player as opposed to a "solid" player, otherwise you have the DW situation all over again.
  13. Bruce Smith is the Gold standard for 3-4 DE's. Seymore's chump change comparitively. Just because he played for the Pats people get all excited about him. And in case you didn't know, 8 sacks was a poor year at the end of Bruce's career. This only proves why you don't put your faith in any QB this year. They are all very questionable talent wise. Wait till next year when Luck might not even be the first QB taken in the draft. Fitz is good enough for now. His stats are better than "The Franchise QB's" of either New Jersey team, and many others as well.
  14. The 3rd pick should be a difference maker. Look at the heat the FO has taken for DW at #8, who has had a Hansen type career. There will always be expectations for that high of a pick, and a "solid" career will be considered a bust, so roll the dice. That being said I think Jordan has the potential for a career that be much more than Hansen's.
  15. Plan A: Dareus, but I seriously doubt he is there. Plan B: Trade and get Watts, Jordan,Bowers or The other person currently known as Prince. Plan C: Oh S*it!
  16. Last year around this time I took a little flak when I questioned our DB's and wondered if they would be the strength everyone envisioned. I felt the transition from zone to man wasn't going to be as smooth as hoped. While we have gotten average to good play from our corners none of them are elite, and McGee spent much of the year injured, also he and Florence are getting old. Mclovin has been up and down. I don't know if I would be overjoyed with Peterson at #3, even though he is deemed a legit top 5 pick, as he seems to be destined to play safety, after a year or two at corner, if the prognosticators are right, but it wouldn't be a disaster. While everyone seems to be leaning D line or QB I would be happy if we were able to drop down and take Amukamara. He reminds me of Antione Winfield. Covers like a blanket and hits like a ton of bricks, with a question mark regarding his ability to get picks. If my memory serves me AW did alright for him self. So do we go Dline and hope the added rush helps solidify our corner play, or do we go corner hoping better coverage creates more time for the Dline to get sacks? What do you all think?
  17. I have a feeling Chan realizes the problems with the D are more a lack of talent than scheme but He obviously brought DW in for a reason. I think George gets this year, if there is one. After that, if there isn't a significant improvement, out comes the broom.
  18. How much of their money have the players invested in the sport? $0. They want to see the books. When is the last time your boss showed you his bottom line? I'm sick of all this whining crap by the players who are making millions. The league min is over $350K Oh! those poor babies. Try working a coal mine for a year. I say bring on the replacements, because I'm sick and tired of these prima donna's. I loved the NBA. When they cancelled their season I washed my hands of them, and have not watched a single game since. If this continues I'll do the same with football. It will break my heart, but it will also save me a lot of money. Just a bitter fan who has seen enough.
  19. RIP Rick. I'll never forget the excitement in the Aud when the French Connection was rolling. If only they could have brought home that cup. Rick Martin still has the highest goals per game average in the history of the league. He was a sniper extordanaire.
  20. I hate to be the one to break the news to you but your boat has already sailed. The time for a stand was before the season ended leading up to this. What you propose is shutting the barn doors after the horse has left. Once an aggreement has been reached life will go on as usual.
  21. I read some where that Harbaugh was recruiting Gabbert over Luck as he felt Gabbert was the better prospect. If thats the case, if you're Gabbert how do you choose Missouri over Stanford???? Unless he didn't want to redshirt like Luck did. Gabbert seems to have jumped up the boards out of no where suddenly. I believe thats because of all the question marks with all of the QB draft choices this year. For what it's worth I also read an article somewhere that "next year" will the mega QB draft. Where have we heard that before???? Supposedly Luck will not even be the 1st QB taken. It's all smoke and mirrors, and everyone has an oppinion. I just hope we don't end up with the next Mike Williams.
  22. Sorry, but fix the D this year, draft a QB next, when there are potentially better options with many less questions. The #3 pick is no guarantee a QB taken there will be any good, so take one where ever we end up in the draft next year.
  23. For me with out a doubt was the OJ pick. Hell the whole city of Buffalo jumped for joy. Here was the Heisman Trophy winner from USC, bigger than life coming to little old Buffalo. I was working at the airport at the time and our supervisor told us which gate he was coming in to and that we had work to do and were not to waste time gawking. He also told us he would be "busy" in his office for an hour or two. The pick that make me want to puke was the OJ pick many years later. What a black eye for the city that adored him. He was our flag bearer, our representative in the NFL, and the national media.
  24. #3 is awful high for a DB. Also I think Peterson will transition to safety in the NFL. I hope we can do better than this.
  25. Peterson is more CB/FS where Prince is a better CB prospect, but both are expected to be very good.
