Bills bring back Ruvell Martin
Original Byrd Man replied to nichebiche's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Can someone please explain to me the need for a stand out gunner on KO's when we kept a KO specialist that doesn't allow returns? -
How many fans remember this game in 1969
Original Byrd Man replied to HOUSE's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I fondly remember this game as I was in attendance. Not real cold, but plenty of wet sloppy snow. It was my second year as a seasons ticket holder. I was 19 at the time. Thanks for the clip, at this age the memmory can always use a litle jog. -
Going to more zone coverage should benefit McKelvin as he will find it easier to track the ball. In the past he had shone glimpses of being a solid corner because of his closing speed. Lets hope this is his turn around year.

Fred Jackson signs new contract
Original Byrd Man replied to Chandler#81's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I was just thinking that same thing earlier today. For all the heat he gets for the blunders he was responsible for as the GM he gets major kudo's for his connection with Coe College. What a major stroke of luck. -
Before he was put on IR it was reported he had an irregular heart beat, which is often but, not always A-fib. It seemed a shirt period after being put on IR that reports of his condition being stablized surfaced.
-
Easly doesn't have a bad heart, he had an irregular heart beat, which is usually well controlled with medication, as was his case.
-
I was hoping Easly would be big for us as well, and maybe he will. The one thing that ticked me off was the FO putting him on IR last year for a condition that was quickly corrected with some medication. He lost a whole season for nothing. I could be wrong but it seemed he was cast aside to make room for Ruvel Martin. If so thats sad.

Other teams' draft screw ups....
Original Byrd Man replied to biggerdaddynj's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Have you seen their offense???? This guy will probably be their MVP! Did anyone notice ESPN's gaff when building up Kendall Reyes, taken by SD in the 2nd? In the video they showed where he was "blowing up" the opposing O line, it must have been a penalty because Reyes was the only player moving. The o line were just standing there. Just got a kick out of it. Poor editing I guess. -
I'm hoping Byrd is resigned as he has quietly become one of the better safety's in the league, and I like Searcy but if Barron is as good as claimed it will be hard to pass on him. Maybe the would move one of them to corner as Barron reportedly can cover wide outs as well.
-
You are right on with Keukly. If he were the next Patrick Willis I'd be praying for him to fall to the Bills, But he is NOT. I've liked Floyd all along but I have been influenced lately by the Mark Barron comments. Most dominating D's have a dominant safety, and from all accounts Barron can do what Keuchly can do and more, so I'm leaning to Barron with the wide out coming in the 2nd.

Listening to Buddy today regarding LT...
Original Byrd Man replied to Cheddar's Dad's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
It's really hard to get a read on what they will do by design but Buddy did say they were looking for a difference maker or a play maker which leads me to believe they will wait for the tackles. I think corner since there are so many wide out prospects that you can get value in the 2nd, , but it could be a LB also. I would love Michael Floyd at 10, Not thrilled with Reif and his short arms(Brian Bulaga anyone?). I would rather see them roll the dice with Glenn if they go tackle at 10 or later. But they haven't asked me for my opinion yet even though I've been waiting by the phone. -
Asante Samuels trade rumors
Original Byrd Man replied to Original Byrd Man's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Wasn't knocking McGee, but it has been a long time since he has started and finished a season. and I'm sure you know Samuels is a corner, not a safety. -
Heard on GR55 news report the Eagles are reported to be looking to move Samuels for a 3rd round pick. Not the youngest guy around but still a solid corner. He would be a definate upgrade over McGee.

Sign our FA's already (Ralph is cheap)
Original Byrd Man replied to Cal Bill's Fan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The front office seems to be clueless in regards to free agency dealings. SJ should have been resigned before the start of the season or better yet at the end of last season. I realize there were questions about his ability to compete at the same level following his break out year, and you don't want to over pay, but by waiting till he did you are now forced to pay premium dollars to keep him. Even Chandler has been miss managed. The staff liked this guy,why not renegiote a deal for a guy who had 1 career catch. My guess is his demands wouldn't have been to high, now who knows. It's not like we were at the cap level. I seriously hope they figure it out some day -
I hope you come to this blog to read this, and I hope Chan is bright enough to realize your opinion of Stevie's behavior is what's wrong with the media in this city. I'm not condoning his behavior, and I believe Chan was justified in his reaction to it, but to suggest he should be shown the door is obsurd. Is he to join the list of athletes to thrive in another city while the media sits back wringing their hands about another player the "Bills" let get away? He has shown some maturity issues but I would hope he can grow from his setbacks. I would rather have him than Santonio Holmes any day, even with his antics. The media in this town couldn't shuffle Lynch out fast enough, and then there's Willis and even Antoine who didn't "deserve" the kind of money he was looking for because he doesn't get picks. I hope The teams we send these players to atleast send us thank you notes. If you want to get on a band wagon how about pettitioning for the No Fun League to hire real (I actually do this for a living) officials. This league is a joke, I just wish I wasn't hooked on it. Oh by the way Jerry, Happy New Year!? Why So Serious??????????????????????????????????????????????

Florence "drilling" Brady into the ground...
Original Byrd Man replied to miserable_fan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
While they certainly go overboard with Brady the officiating in this league has been a major joke for years. I'm surpirised the ref didn't run over to high five Hernandez after he "pranced" into the endzone in front of GW. Good thing that wasn't taunting!!! Yet SJ gets a flag for a New Year's wish on a T shirt. Why So Serious??????? -
Gailey REALLY should be fired
Original Byrd Man replied to BuffaloWest's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Do we know it's all on Chan, and Fitz isn't audiblizing to another play? I'm sure he has free reign to change a call after Gailey has made comments about their chemistry on and off the field. -
A Few Thoughts About The Game
Original Byrd Man replied to Bill from NYC's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
It's tuff to get on the field with Jackson playing so well but I really felt he could have exploited the slower LB's of the Jest's and maybe pulled them out of man coverage a little more last week but saw no action. -
This D lacks talent. Our corners can't cover and there is no rush. Dareus and Troup and Williams are a good start but they are only a start. And why are we not running more? second week in a row FJ has been close to 10 Y/C but not enough carries. We should have pounded the ball.
-
dareus inside was not why...
Original Byrd Man replied to loserlovers's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Love that Greek drama line! And you're right about the Skin's O sucking but the D line still had to make plays and they did. They had 2 weeks to prepare and they came up with a few wrinkles, add to that the fact that losing Merriman was addition by subtraction,he is not the same player he once was. Obviously KW has been underperforming due to the injury he has been nursing, and Sheppard stepping in helped as well. Lets see what they bring this week! -
He could help in the run for the playoffs, then re-evaluate at years end depending on how things go with Easley and Stevie, for the right price. Although if for some strange reason the Colts were ready to sever ties with RW that would be option #1.
