  1. If I could get those later round picks the way you have them projected, sign me up!
  2. Not sure if you saw the podcast on wkbw where Joe B discusses this very topic with Tyler Dunne. They discussed an analyst who reviewed the top 10 QBs in this class and broke down ranking by accuracy vs throwing distance. It showed Trubisky as #1 or #2 on pretty much all short and intermediate range (behind LOS all the way to 25 yds) throws but dead last on throws over 25 yards and by like 7 or 8 % points over the next worst. Still not sure if that's an issue, however. Good mechanics, footwork and the best accuracy up to 25 yards ... does that trump deep accuracy? i'd really like yours and Bandit's and a couple other draftniks' opinions on it.
  3. Well, Chris Brown didn't refute the possibility: CB: You’re right it wouldn’t be popular, but it wouldn’t be a reach or outlandish pick at all. I’m pretty confident McCaffrey goes in the top 10 somewhere. Personally I don’t think he gets past Carolina at eight. The reason why he’s so valuable is because in addition to his elite physical skill set is he can legitimately be lined up at receiver in addition to running back. He can also help on returns. So a player with his multi-faceted production and athletic measurables to match signals top 10 talent. Not to mention his dad had a successful career in the league with Denver. If the Bills pick him the narrative will be, ‘here they go again replacing running backs like they did with McGahee and Marshawn and Spiller.’ If the Bills don’t match the Gillislee offer sheet that line of criticism will be even louder. What will be lost in such a scenario is the veritable matchup nightmare McCaffrey would be no matter where he lines up on the field. I believe he’s an elite talent, so he fits the value at 10.
  4. Kaaya seems fundamentally flawed with his inability to deal with pressure. If he gets flustered in the college game, how's he going he going to handle adversity in the NFL?See Walter Football analysis below: "There are two crippling issues that Kaaya fails to overcome. The first is whenever he starts feeling the pass rush, he drops his eyes and watches the defensive linemen swarm around him. On top of that, he is a statue in the pocket and rarely do you see him move to avoid rushers. There are lots of plays on which Kaaya looked like a deer in headlights who was just waiting to be tackled. Effective NFL quarterbacks keep their eyes downfield, glide in the pocket to avoid rushers, and deliver accurate passes in the face of a rush. It was a very rare sight to see Kaaya do that. Kaaya's struggles to pass the ball while under pressure are a huge problem that could lead to him not panning out in the NFL." Good points. We have a difference of opinion on Dobbs. But if we don't pick Trubisky or Mahomes (not necessarily sold on either), I'm not counting on a miracle from the sky flyer in the later rounds.
  5. There were enough positive comments coming out of the Bills organization that Cardale was doing well with the scout team toward the end of last year. I think Cardale is less of a flyer than Dobbs and you really can't have multiple project QBs stashed away on your team. 1 starter, 1 backup, 1 project QB and possible training camp fodder to compete with the project QB. Maybe you think these guys are less of a flyer than Cardale. I don't. Also from an earlier post wanting the Miami QB, the only 2 games I saw Kaaya play, he was clearly the worst player on the field - not just bad as a QB. I remember watching and thinking, "he has no feel for the pocket, looks rattled under pressure and has a scattershot arm" - I'm shocked that people think he'll even be a backup in the NFL.
  6. I'm of the belief you take the best QB you can find unless you want a project QB. But we already have our project QB in Cardale. Either you go for the gusto in Round 1 (maybe with a trade down) or forget about QB this year. Does Peterman or Dobbs or heck, even Kelly, offer that much more potential than Jones? I don't think so. I'm not a fan of getting another project QB unless it's as a free agent.
  7. I believe he thinks Watson would flop in the NFL based on his tangible traits, Mahomes has some upside but probably isn't capable of changing his propensity to run, Kizer has great footwork and bad accuracy. The only one he thinks has the necessary footwork and accuracy required to be a top 10 pick is Trubisky.
  8. Ah yes, the best left handed quarterback whose last name begins with Z ... ever.
  9. That's not how it works. I'm pretty sure it's use it or lose it.
  10. I've been thinking the only 2 QBs worth taking in this draft are Watson and Mahomes. And even moreso after reading Bandit's and Bloke's and a couple of the other hard-core draftnicks' reviews. I think if McD and Whaley feel either could be their long term answer, then pull the trigger whether it's at 10 or a small trade down (2-5 slots). I don't want Howard because a top 10 pick needs performance and passion. The fact that this draft class is strong with safety and wide receiver makes me feel ok about picking those in subsequent rounds as well.
  11. I think T.O. retired already but you never know ...
  12. That's some good analysis there. A little scattershot but I appreciate the effort you took to compile this. I'm not sold on Tyrod after this past year but I think we'll find out what we have in him if folks stay healthy and the defense starts turning things around.
  13. Also, if you think you've found your potential franchise guy in 2018 or 2019, TT's contract wouldn't be hard to trade in 3 years. And at ~16 mi! per at that point, he would have been a reasonable bridge starter while we upgraded the defense. The shame would be not making any playoffs while we have Shady and a decent OL for running the ball.
  14. This is my new most favoritest thread. I got dibs on the name, "Particle Sun", for my next death metal / funk jazz / shoegaze alt-rock trio.
  15. Jeezus, dude. Give it a rest or take it to the politics board. Shall I start a rant about how the two most hated sports figures in Buffalo are fans of that no-nothing,200 word vocabulary spouting, misogynistic alt-right whack job about to lead the free world? No. No I won't. (See what I did there?)
  16. Williams inactive. I think this is the one game we can't afford to miss him.
  17. I'm not going to argue with your opinion about his opinion. But taking the rest of what he said is important. It is not a sham argument. You may disagree with it. But it is worth discussion, which is what I believe his intent was. "I am not going to stand up to show pride in a flag for a country that oppresses black people and people of color," Kaepernick said of his decision not to stand, the start of a protest that the quarterback said yesterday will continue until "there's significant change, and I feel like that flag represents what it's supposed to represent and this country is representing people the way that it's supposed to, I'll stand." And that will be it for my non-football discussion on this board.
  18. I looked at those stats and noted a disproportionate number of blacks being shot. But that's a red herring in this argument anyway. Here's a much more thorough graphical comparison within the judicial system - proof that the issue is endemic to the way our society treats minorities. Anyone can opine and hate on someone for espousing views different from their own but to say his stance is stupid because he's an "uninformed" or "vegan" is far more childish in my view. http://www.slate.com/articles/news_and_politics/crime/2015/08/racial_disparities_in_the_criminal_justice_system_eight_charts_illustrating.html Edited by Lothar, Today, 01:47 PM.
  19. Well said, Kirby. Again, I have a hard time with folks telling him how to think. I respect a fan's right to boo him. But he's voicing his opinion about the way our country treats African Americans. You may disagree - but I have non-partisan stats that show why he's correct and don't just rely on personal anecdotes from black friends. If folks want to discuss the issue in a civil manner, go to the "politics thread" on the Sabrespace board, not the typical shoutfest we see on threads here.
  20. Pick 6, get it? I'm fully behind Kaep's right to kneel or salute do a jig during the anthem. Just as the fans can boo. But the white privelege revealed on this thread is astounding.
  21. I'm a Taylor fan but looking at running and passing stats this year, I see Gabbert and TT's stats are fairly similar. Obviously, not having Sammy has impacted what used to be a TT strength with yards per attempt. But other than the turnover differential, the numbers are not far apart. Almost identical pass and rush yards per game. That said, I'm OK with the numbers as long as the Bills are winning. http://www.cbssports.com/nfl/stats/playersort/nfl/year-2016-season-regular-category-passing
  22. Bills cancelled visit according to his fiance's twitter account.
