They were not the '85 Bears but the defense under Schwartz was really good with with the exception of the Pats game in Buffalo. You can pick them apart for a play here and there but the defense was number 4 in the league overall and led the league in sacks.
Rex was supposed to be this defensive genius but ended up being a micro manager with an over complicated defensive scheme that had his players thinking instead of reacting which is never good.
Pettine tried to run a 3-4 at the beginning of that season but it wasn't working so he went with more 4-3 rest of the year and the defense played better although still couldn't stop the run
The only part of a base defense that really matters anymore is the Dline since defenses are in the nickel more often than not these days. It's also what the defense is asking the Dline to do as Rex's defense wants his Dlineman to take up blockers where Schwartz's was more about penetrating and disrupting.
First it was you wouldn't trade a 7th for anyone on their roster now it's you wouldn't take anyone on their roster over someone on the Bills...which is it bc that's two different things?
Whatever call you make you want the clock to keep running which was unlikely to happen with that low percentage play to the sideline
FG puts them up 7 so not exactly meaningless
Coaches always need to prove they are smarter than everyone else and according to them unless you played and or coached the game you shouldn't question them
Marrone was the Jags offensive line coach last year and still is so he wasn't and still isn't on the unemployment line.
There have been 14 openings the last two years with Marrone interviewing for 7 or 8 so not even close to interviewing with half the league.
I do agree that he will end up looking to go back to college next year
Marrone interviewed for just about every opening since he quit the Bills but hasn't come close to becoming a head coach again...I don't think he's even been called back for a second interview by any of those teams either
Love it!
Another boring playoff game, that's 5 out of 6 so far with the only really entertaining game to this point being last weeks Packers Redskins game
Arians is awesome, would love having him as Bills HC
How can someone who has been a head coach as long as Andy Reid has been still be this bad at clock management?
This is why Reid will never win a Super Bowl
