24 Season Six Discussion Thread
Sketch Soland replied to billsfanmiami(oh)'s topic in Off the Wall Archives
I explained in two different posts what I consider the difference now in the show's over-the-topness as compared to past seasons. This method of reasoning is called analysis and is used to differentiate between facets of things that on the surface seem alike but upon further analysis can be shown to have divergence -
I just heard McGahee's press conference on NFLN

And your point is what exactly? -

Dear God, Please let McGahee not get seriously injured playing next season for the Baltimore Ravens. I do not wish him any harm, as he was once a member of the Buffalo Bills and I have some good memories of his time playing for us. Please let him stay healthy so that he has the chance to average 3.5 ypc and run for 950 yards over a full season, so that his new shining star in Baltimore may begin to tarnish and that he might slowly once again for the first time suffer the insidious biting tendrils of underachievement and overratedness and the hate filled spite of Ravens fans and press pundits that are his by right of being only a slightly above average NFL RB and by his natural birthright of being such a dumbass douchebag braindead retard. Thanks God, Sketch Soland -
No, there's no button. I'm just trying to be a good Christian, my friend! How could humor be a matter of personal preference? You didn't create a whole thread to inform us that humor is a matter of personal preference, did you? No, of course not! That's too obvious! This thread is about something far more absolute and profound: righteousness and self-righteousness! Yes, which explains why both of them cross the "line" big time! It's in their blood!
-
I'm very glad you made this thread so that I now know the "line" has been crossed. I didn't realize until you made this thread that I had no idea there was a "line" at all, much less that Sarah Silverman of all people had crossed this "line". I totally see the point of you informing me about this "line" because otherwise I might not have known it existed and that crossing it was such a no-no! But I do disagree with you on one thing: listening to Howard Stern totally crosses the "line". He uses cuss words, describes graphic sexual intercourse between unmarried people, and often refers to flatulence live on the air! And to top it all off, he is also Jewish and as such denies the divinity of Jesus Christ as part of his faith! How much more crossing the "line" can you get!?

His name is "Trolls r Us", you know......

Yeah, but once again, once we're out of math land and onto the playing field: 2 3rd Round and 1 seventh round potential contributing/good/starting players > 1 potential contributing/good/starting 2nd round player The numbers stop when 3 players have a chance to help us instead of one.

He's a Republican and religiously watches tapes of old Dick Cheney speeches instead of studying game film. I'm afraid we're going to have to cut him.

3 RB's and a starting FB. this is SOP. cieslak is the emergency FB possibly a 4th RB for special teams reasons, but other than that scenario, 3 RB's and 1 FB

Is a RB only as good as the OL in front of him?
Sketch Soland replied to PromoTheRobot's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
In short, yes. I said this in a previous thread: a good OL will make an average RB look good, a great OL will make a good RB look great, but only a great RB makes a poor or average OL look good, and how many truly great RB's are there? I'd rather have a good OL than a good RB, in other words, if I had to pick one, especially since a good OL allows all facets of an offense the potential to be successful, not just the running game. -
the raiders.... where flash in the pan backup RB's go to die....

The Bill's Need Some Impact Players

LMAO, what in the HELL, are the Ravens.....

My favorite was a quote from Brian Billick referring to Newsome, the GM, cutting the deal for McGahee. The opening line went something like: "Way to go Ozzie!" LOL -
An opinion on McGahee other then ESPN
Sketch Soland replied to Cornerville's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
No, because that would imply that i make a sweeping generalization about everything he's written without reading it. That would be irrational on my part. I prefer to read something before judging it irrational. And notice I said MOST rational thing he's ever written, which does not imply that it is the ONLY rational thing he has ever written. -

That may be the most rational thing that windbag has ever written. He's completely right. -
These Are The Urgent Needs
Sketch Soland replied to Buffalo Baumer's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I really doubt Marv is going to draft another 3-tech DT in the 1st round this year when he traded up to draft one last year, especially when the one he drafted last year is still a rookie, practically speaking. This is the argument against Okoye, imo, especially since Marv has not shown or hinted at being keen about really focusing on DT so far this offseason. -
You think Ralph Wilson doesn't want to spend his money wisely? a proven starter-quality back huh? that rushed for 933 yards last year? who has yet to consistently prove on the field that he was worth a 1st round pick? the starter-quality back who Marv Levy and Dick Jauron, two obviously super-qualified judges of football talent, couldn't wait to ship off to another team? Oh yeah? Because they are entertaining visits from various players for various reasons, you automatically assume that they are going to sign "a group of flawed backs" to replace Willis McGahee. Not only are you getting the cart way before the horse, but you fail to consider all the possible permutations that can happen between now and opening day, as in, signing a dillon or not, drafting one of many possible young RB's, platooning these players, finding an older veteran RB who works well in the system and can mentor a young RB, etc. etc. etc. but more draft picks to sign young players to play these positions! and more possible scenarios of trading up and down to get the players we want! and grabbing one or more RB via draft or other means that have a better chance of being more effective in out style of offense, who want to be in Buffalo, and will be committed to winning football games as a team! Oh yeah? No sh--!? We didn't want to re-sign them my friend. We could have paid Clements but we decided he was not worth the outrageously overpriced contract he got. And Fletcher at 32 we didn't want to commit to long term, as we want to move to a more attacking style of LB (per Marv) and also get younger in the process. Please find me in any of my previous posts where i state that the Bills operate in a "world without financial constraint". You won't be able to find this statement. Please don't put words into my mouth in order to twist an argument to your favor. Thanks! How about picking up three more draft picks and being able to address the positions like LB and CB that you mentioned earlier? How about getting value for a RB that the braintrust of this organization did not want playing for them this upcoming year? How about finding a RB or two that they do want and who will fit the system and will be a good team player and step up to the requirements that Marv and Juaron ask of their football players?

The Buffalo Bills future at RB
Sketch Soland replied to Stevie's Johns0n's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Oh yeah? You were in the draft war rooms with each team that had a pick before our next pick? You were closer to the ins and outs of draft talk/intrigue than the Buffalo Bills staff of coaches, staff, and personnel? He may have lasted but the point is you have no idea if he would have or not. Right now, General Consensus bantied about unofficially says that Irons will not be a 1st round pick. That may certainly change by draft day, as unofficial consensus at this moment may be crap. however, I will not be in every draft war room on draft day, so I will not be able to tell you for sure afterwards if he would have been available at our second round pick if we indeed do trade into the late 1st round to get him. -
The Buffalo Bills future at RB
Sketch Soland replied to Stevie's Johns0n's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
There's absolutely no way that we will have to trade back into the late 1st round to get kenny irons. he will be available later than that. -
Don't knock it till you've tried it, my friend. Deities are gentle but highly passionate lovers who know how to develop a sexual moment in all its rapturous glory. Just because they're made out to be Saturnine, Uptight Repressed Grouches doesn't mean they don't know how to stimulate great orgasms and phukc like omnipotent banshees!
