If the Bills Don’t Make it to the AFCCG, Should McDermott Be Fired?
H2o replied to Gugny's topic in The Stadium Wall
At some point he has to lead this team over the hump. He has the team to do it with, but there are many moving parts and pieces. We have lost 2 All Pro caliber players off our defense for the season. Then we lost another who was playing at a Pro Bowl level on the interior. We are now down 3 of our 11 on defense for the rest of the year most likely. That's a HUGE loss, each of those players on this team. I'm not making excuses for McDermott, but there's a reason the next man up is not the man already on the field. I hope this year more mirrors 2021 than 2022. In 2021 we got hot the last month of the season, after halftime in the Tampa game, and rode it through the Playoffs. If not for the 13 seconds debacle, I think we hoist the Lombardi. Still, if this team loses out to a hotter team in the Playoffs before the AFCCG, I don't think McDermott should get canned depending on how it goes down. Only if it looks like he's completely lost the team. I don't foresee that happening. But if he does, and anyone can see the signs, then it's time for him to go. -
I said Eberflus, but Staley deserves the ax too. There have been absolutely no positives in Chicago since Eberflus took over. At the same time, there hasn't been a more underachieving squad than the Chargers since Staley has been HC.

Unleash Josh Allen...stop trying to change him
H2o replied to Alphadawg7's topic in The Stadium Wall
I like the "take what the defense is giving" version of Josh better than "force the ball into double or triple coverage" version of Josh. If he consistently takes what the defense will give him, then we won't lose many football games outside of defensive meltdowns. Josh will still make plays only Josh can make, just like the throw to Morris. Or like the throw back across his body to Gabe in the endzone. There aren't too many people who can do that. Maybe Mahomes. Let him run if he wants to run, I just don't like the designed run plays. He just needs to slide or get out of bounds. You know, be smart about it. Another 2 or 3 yards isn't worth the punishment. -
If Von still looks this way come December, then I will worry. He's still only 11 months removed from his 2nd ACL tear. I think it will take a few weeks for him to round into form. Thankfully we signed Leonard Floyd, who has been a monster, and AJE seems to have turned the corner.

I think this boils down to Josh only truly having confidence in one guy to bring the ball in when it hits his hands, and that's Diggs. I think he also trusts Cook, but he wasn't really checking the ball down as much last night. There was a play where he scrambled to his left that Cook was wide open initially, then he flowed to the left through the zone and could have had a huge play. Allen didn't even look his way. It's hard to say what we need to do, but they need to figure something out. Scheme wise, play calling wise, tempo wise, formation wise, whatever it may be. Other guys also have to step up. Josh and Diggs can't do it all.

Mac Jones is a dirty, trash QB. New England is a bad football team as a whole. I hope Floyd, Rousseau, Miller, Epenesa, and Oliver light him up all game next weekend. I also hope we can score more than 14 points or we might be in trouble.

Homey gets paid to block and catch the ball. He's only doing one of the two right now. His contract should have de-escalators for drops. If he would have caught the ball then there wouldn't have been any flags or non-flags to talk about.

Another Trade Target - Harrison Phillips - Minnesota Vikings
H2o replied to H2o's topic in The Stadium Wall
They were saying that it could turn into a fire sale if they lose to Chicago on Sunday, then they have SF on deck the following week. That would likely have them at 1-6 after the SF game. Their season is done after that. They still have NO, DET x2, CIN, they're not making the Playoffs. Then there is no real timeline of JJ's return, only that he is on IR for at least the next 4 games. Cousins is about to be 36 and a FA next offseason. Talk is they may go into full rebuild mode and moving people around. Danielle Hunter was a name mentioned as well as Harrison Smith. I imagine Hicks would also be available and could be an asset in the LB group. -
The Vikings have lost Justin Jefferson for the foreseeable future, they're off to a 1-4 start, and their season seems to be going off the rails quickly. I've seen where if they manage to lose to the Bears this week then the fire sale is likely on in Minny as well. Cousins is due to be a FA next year and the rebuild may be a full go at that point. Harry has been pretty solid for them this year and he already knows the defense. It would fill the need at 1-tech. They could easily re-work his contract to spread some money out or just cut him in the offseason. I could see this as a move Beane and McDermott would make.

His ego wouldn't allow him to tank. The problem is he's a terrible GM and there's no more Tommy Boy. Mac Jones is also trash. That team is the very definition of meh from top to bottom.
-
I like the 49ers. I also believe they would have beaten the Eagles last year if Brock Purdy had not gotten injured. They're a good football team from top to bottom. They have multiple elite players on both sides of the football, especially at the skill positions. I don't have any issue with them talking because they have been backing it up with their play. Most of their players are likeable people too. McCaffrey. Purdy is a great story. Bosa. Warner. Deebo. Armstead. Aiyuk. Hargrave. Kittle. Juszczyk. Ward. Hufanga. Shanahan and Lynch have built an elite roster. The only time I would dislike them is if we shared the football field. The only way that could happen this year is in the Super Bowl. Then they would deserve "a good beat in the face" for the Bills to hoist that Lombardi.

The Chiefs getting anything and everything handed to them on a platter is absolutely disgusting at this point.
-
Between the injuries and the refs not calling the game the same on both sides, this game is trash. And the constant ballwashing of Lawrence against a defense of 2nd and 3rd string is ridiculous too

The Broncos are trying to win. They're not going to give up one of their best, young players.

Just don't ever go all Dunkirk Don on us HappyDays. We'll trust you until then. -
Tremaine is the same type of player he's always been. Tremendously gifted athletically, but lacks the instincts and the physicality to ever truly make a difference. He was the best version he'll ever be of himself on the field while he was here and everyone involved with the decision making process made the right one by letting him walk.

Allen's completion percentage - Him, or Dorsey or the weapons
H2o replied to FireChans's topic in The Stadium Wall
The last 3 games, outside of the two Playoff games in 2022, has been Josh playing the smartest football of his career. If this trend continues, this offense is basically unstoppable. We already know he has a cannon. We already know he can drop a 60 yard throw right into the bread basket. Now we are seeing Josh take anything and everything the defense gives to him. You want to take away the deep shots? Fine. He'll light you up with 10-15 yard throws all day. You want to run Cover 0 and send 6 people after him? Fine. He's going to hit those RB's in the flat, or slashing just beyond the LOS in the middle, or whoever else his hot read may be. This IS the maturation we've all been waiting for. If he's committed to taking whatever the defense gives him, then it opens up everything else. There is no one thing a defense can do to slow him down. And you know what? He can still tuck the ball and take off when a play breaks down or once you've been lulled to sleep as well. This is that Notorious QB and the league is on notice. -
Still the greatest angry run ever
