  1. I must admit I have been down on Shenault. I have given people a lot of flak over the guy. I apologize to everyone who I was giving a hard time about LS. I also gave a lazy comparison of Cordarrelle Patterson, but that was physically, playing style, and athletically incorrect. I watched the two, one after another, for a while yesterday evening and realized how far off base I was outside of the fact as to how their respective teams used them. I said I saw LS as Patterson 2.0 and nothing could be further from the truth. So I went back and started digging. Watching Shenault I realized he is a MUCH BETTER hands catcher (as another poster pointed out to me previously) than I was giving him credit for, unlike Patterson who seemed to try to catch everything with his body. Shenault is also going to be an asset in the running game with his strength and physicality, whether it be blocking or getting the ball on a jet sweep. Patterson was not physical, just fast with an ability to put his foot in the ground then get going 0-60 in a split second. I was thinking to myself, "Dang, I made myself look like an idiot saying he was CP 2.0." Then I started thinking about who he actually did remind me of, who was he most similar to, which NFL WR has that same body type, and where had I seen Shenault's style of play before? All of a sudden it was like a light switch came on. The way they catch the ball, the way they move with the ball in their hands, the run after the catch ability, the body type, the way they track the ball in the air then meet it at it's highest point, almost dang near everything. The only difference is the WR he is most like was a more polished route runner coming into the league and his college team did not use him in the same manner as CU did with Shenault. Who he really reminds me of after watching the two side by side is a slightly more explosive, but less polished route runner version Larry Fitzgerald. I also expect Shenault to run a similarly "slow" 40 time to be honest. Maybe not a 4.63 like Fitzgerald did, but I expect it to be in the 4.53-4.58 range. People are going to want to talk about the stat differential between the two, but watch both of them track the ball, watch how they catch the ball, and watch them both once they get the ball in their hands. To me they seem eerily similar. Watch these highlight reels and judge for yourself. I am not saying Shenault is going to be Larry Fitzgerald 2.0 and a have a HOF career, but that Larry is the WR that Shenault reminds me of the most when I look at the two side by side on the highlight reels. If this is who we take at #22 then I wouldn't complain as long as all of his medicals are good.
  2. If Eisen can take him I know you can. I'm 43 and I'm certain I could beat him in a foot race.
  3. Dang Teef, you're gonna have to work on that this offseason. Tom's gotta be somewhere in the 5.95 40 range by now.
  4. I wouldn't complain one bit if our draft turned out like my Fanspeak one did today. 22: R1P22 LB ISAIAH SIMMONS CLEMSON 54: R2P22 WR CHASE CLAYPOOL NOTRE DAME 86: R3P22 WR K.J. HAMLER PENN STATE 125: R4P22 EDGE KENNY WILLEKES MICHIGAN STATE 155: R5P9 RB AJ DILLON BOSTON COLLEGE 167: R5P21 OT SAAHDIQ CHARLES LSU 188: R6P9 G STEVEN GONZALEZ PENN STATE 201: R6P22 CB MICHAEL OJEMUDIA IOWA 207: R6P28 S ALOHI GILMAN NOTRE DAME
  5. He's just pissed he was left out as a backup dancer for JLo and Shakira, vows to come back more focused than ever.
  6. Addison is a little long in the tooth as he will be 33 by the start of next season, as is Campbell who will be 34 by the beginning of next year. They could try to bring him, Addison, in on a 1 or 2 year deal, but he's not any sort of long term answer. I also don't know what you give up in a trade for a DE who will be 34 years old, nothing more than one of our 6th's imo.
  7. Re-sign Lawson or make a run @ Dante Fowler if Lawson is bent on going elsewhere (but don't overpay for him). I would much rather re-sign Lawson and add a guy in the draft to be honest. There are some talented guys who will be there through the first few rounds imo. You have YGM, AJ Epenesa, Bradley Anae, Zack Baun, K'Lavon Chaisson, and Kenny Willekes. I expect YGM and Epenesa to be gone by the time we pick in the 1st though. There are two guys that I would keep an eye on because they seem to fit the mold McDermott and Beane are looking for, Bradlee Anae and Kenny Willekes. I think they are guys who both will be available between rounds 2-4. The guy that ABSOLUTELY screams "Process" to me is Kenny Willekes. The guy went from walk-on to All American at Michigan State. He's not the DE who will run the fastest at the combine or anything like that. He does however have a good motor, very good instincts, a repertoire of moves, a really good first step, and a functional strength that you don't see very often. He consistently throws guys around that outweigh him by 60lbs and you better not try to block him with a TE. He was a leader in that MSU locker room receiving praise from everyone for his work ethic and contagious intensity. The pundits and draftniks want to knock him for his arm length and the typical "lack of athleticism" jargon they use, but watch him on tape. Don't be surprised if he ends up in a Bills uniform this year. Bradley Anae also seems to fit the "Process" mold of players imo. Really quick off of the edge, but will need to be coached up on how use his hands better and disengage. It's the same talk with him by the pundits and draftniks, his arms aren't long enough, his athleticism will limit him, blah, blah. He as well looks good on tape. He doesn't have the same bend that Willekes does, but I think he can be effective off of the edge in the NFL and no one will question his effort on every play.
  8. Yeah, that would have been a sick trio for Denver to go along with two quality RB's.
  9. ^^^^^^^^Who got fired for fondling boobies without asking first?^^^^^^^^
  10. If Ruggs is there I take Ruggs because he's gonna get open every time Josh runs around in the backfield the same way Hill does for Mahomes all the time. We can still get a big WR in 3 or 4 that will be just as capable of seeing the field playing with the depth of this class.
  11. If Ruggs is there I'll take him. I think he will be very similar to Tyreke Hill. He will time fast at the combine, but if you watch the tape he is just as fast in pads. He's gonna be hard to handle for NFL secondaries. Not a fan of Shenault though.
  12. Did they go all in and pick him up via a Ford Taurus?
  13. This is where I'm at as well. I wouldn't throw $15-$20mill at Cooper. I think there will be starters to be had even into the 4th Round with this WR class, not counting the typical exceptions who just turn out to be gems. Pass on Cooper.
  14. Fify so Kirby was actually tagged
  15. That's the price you pay when you think you have found "the guy" of course. If the Chargers get into the playoffs, because a bounce back year is most definitely in the cards, then the return on our investment is absolutely worth it.
  16. The Chargers see Tua as more of a Russell Wilson type of QB and the offense will be that type of offense. Tua will have a solid WR corps to work with, a quality all-purpose back in Ekeler, and will put up numbers.
  17. Tua and Tyrod will be in an open competition from the time TC starts. Tyrod will get the benefit of the doubt as far as 1st team reps early on, but we're not planning on Tua riding the pine. There is complete faith he will beat out Tyrod.
  18. With the 3rd pick, the Chargers Select Tua Tagovailoa, QB Alabama. The NY Giants @NewEra are on the clock. This is an easy move for LA. The defense is already stout and they have money to overhaul the line and get another RB in FA if they want. Injuries put them in this position so they make the most of it. They don't know if or when they will ever be high enough in the draft to get a QB like Tua. Before the year Joe Burrow had for LSU, Tua was expected to be the lock #1 overall pick. Burrow happened and then the hip injury. The medicals are checking out just fine and Tua is a rare talent with good enough arm strength, accuracy to all levels of the field, and he knows how to manipulate DB's with his eyes. The Chargers now fully expect they have their new Franchise QB for the next 15-20 years.
  19. Figured it had something to do with the NCAA investigation against MSU.
  20. Yeah, the NFL is all about that dollar as well. They think putting a little more in the pot for the players solves everything, but I doubt it would in this instance. I think the drawbacks to having a team in London for the NFL players would kill the Jags in FA especially. I also think it would have a negative effect on the game as a whole due to the list of reasons I previously discussed as well as others that I haven't even considered. If that is what they are planning on doing with the 17 game schedule we would probably just play our extra game in Toronto. That would be the most logical move for us. As for the other 31 teams? Who knows? I think the short term outlook on the money aspect of it could be extremely detrimental to the league as a whole down the road.
  21. I understand that aspect of it, but I can't see it being sustainable for the NFL as a whole. The players would have to pay taxes in the US and taxes overseas, because you know most of them aren't going to actually live there. It would be harder on players with families. It would mean that 8 teams would have to make the trip across the Atlantic on a yearly basis. It would also mean that the Jags would be flying back and forth from London to the US 8 times a year. It would be a crappy situation for everyone involved for the most part, but mainly the Jags players themselves. This is a hole of his own making though, Khan, so whatever happens rests squarely on his shoulders.
  22. Shahid Khan is all about that $$$ (as are many other owners I'm sure) and he feels like this move overall puts more $$$ in his pocket. Can't blame him in the short term, but this isn't sustainable for success in the league or with his franchise imo.
  23. That would work as well
  24. This isn't gonna happen, in this universe or a parallel one. I can see us taking a RB to compliment Singletary in rounds 3-6 somewhere, if we don't address the position in FA, but taking a RB in the 1st will NEVER happen under this regime unless we are gifted a Barry Sanders clone.
  25. Gruden got a 10 year, $100,000,000 contract. Mark Davis loves him. He's not getting fired. I also don't think the Raiders are that far off from competing in the AFC. They have one of the best young RB's in the league, a solid OL, a couple of decent WR options in Williams and Renfrow, one of the best TE's in the league in Waller, as well as a 2nd TE who would be a starter on most NFL teams right now, and they have some legit pieces on defense. If they get a true #1 WR, a couple of solid CB's, and fix their LB corps then they are going to be fighting for at least a WC spot consistently (due to the Chiefs being in their division) even if they stick with Carr.
