Lamar Jackson: I'll Be Having That Crow Pot Pie Now (edited title)
H2o replied to H2o's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
While I don't think Lamar would be AS successful if he had not landed exactly where he did, I still think the talent would show through. The young man is electric out there. -
In the same light that I can see the growth in Allen and believe he is a special player, I can no longer deny the fact that Lamar Jackson is a special talent at the QB position either. Yes, he has a great coaching staff from top to bottom that has tailor made the offense around him. Yes, he has a good/great defense to back him up. Yes, he has had some rough patches in the same manner as Josh throwing the ball. But again I watch him yesterday against the Texans and the young man does not disappoint. I keep thinking he will falter, but on the biggest stage he always seems up to the task. He is surely not just another system product ala Kaepernick or Tyrod with Roman at the helm. He can do things on the field that we haven't seen in this league since Michael Vick in his early days with the Falcons and when he is on throwing the ball, he is on. Even on the days he may be off throwing the football he can still beat you with his legs like he did the Seahawks or the Patriots. People keep hyping all of these other match-ups as the next Brady/Manning like Mahomes/Jackson or Watson/Jackson, but I can see the battle being Allen/Jackson for years to come. Hopefully his style of play doesn't lead to injury and it remains to be seen whether this style is also sustainable at this level, but right now he is one of my favorite players to watch in the NFL outside of the Bills every week.

Maybe the staff is actually making adjustments that are working now? Johnson comes in and makes the most of his opportunity. Oliver played like a man yesterday. Liuget out there getting after it again. Phillips still having his best season as a pro. Star actually out there making plays. Daboll goes up in the booth and calls his best game of the season. Josh coincidentally has his best game of the year as well. Edmunds and Milano were out there flying around all day. They seemed like they were out to prove a point yesterday and they all played hungry. -
Can the Detractors Now Admit Allen's Growth?
H2o replied to H2o's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The ball was only thrown on a rope traveling 30 yards in the air. It doesn't count. He has to throw it in the air 60 on a dime for it to be considered a deep ball. -
Truth. Outside of him lucking up on the Peyton Manning signing and getting Demarcus Ware from Dallas, he has been really bad as a GM. You would think as a former QB, and HOF'er as well, that the first thing he would be able to do is identify QB talent. He hasn't been able to do that. You wonder how long he holds his job due to his status in Denver and the fact they got a SB a few years ago.

Can the Detractors Now Admit Allen's Growth?
H2o replied to H2o's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Another thing to look at, aside from Josh completely flipping his TD to INT ratio over the last 6 weeks, is his baseline stats. Now I agree that stats do not tell the whole story. We have all seen him struggle at times on the field in certain games this year. But for a young man who was as raw as he was coming out of college, only having started 21 games now in the NFL, after playing against lesser opponents in college for the most part, and not having a plethora of talent around him at said college, he is completing passes at a 60.3% clip while being on pace for basically 3,500 yards passing with 20 TD passes to 11 INT's and 530 yards rushing with 11 more TD's to go with it. That's 4,000 yards of production and 30+ total TD's. -
It was definitely PI and the refs are just trying to stick it to everyone. Riveron is a joke.

I understand your point, but if he hadn't had this type of performance today the Nancy's would have been out in full force. He's improving as a QB and not turning it over in the process. In the last 6 games he has 10 TD's to 1 INT and he has led the team to more W's than we had all of last season in just 10 games. -

Yeah, you must not have been on the board this past week. There were numerous people calling for his head and starting threads about which QB we should go after in the offseason. -

Against a team he was supposed to put up good numbers against, Allen comes through. Stat line: 21-33 for 256 yards and 3 TD'S 7 carries for 56 yards and 1 TD 7.8 yards per att and 117.7 rtg He was calm in the pocket, went to his 2nd and 3rd read, put a lot of passes right on the money so the WR could get YAC, beat the blitz on a number of occasions, used his legs when the opportunity presented itself, and he didn't throw an INT for the 5th straight game. The young man is growing as a QB and that should be evident to all.

Amen to this. He seems to see the field better and call a better game from up there. We'll see if it continues.

I watched his interview on YouTube. I watched his workout. He threw the ball decent in shorts. It wasn't amazing, or eye opening, or anything like that. He was in the NFL at one point so I'd expect he would be able to look decent throwing the ball in shorts. He looks a bit out of shape though. His arm strength was never a problem when he was in the league. One of the knocks on him in SF was he lacked the necessary touch on the intermediate routes. Another knock on him was if you kept him locked in the pocket, not being able to use his legs, he could not beat you with his arm. Now he's older that athleticism surely begun to decline as well. Is he better than some backups in the league, maybe even a starter or two, probably. But honestly, who is going to invest in him at this point? The venue situation. So an hour and a half before the workout CK says he's not doing it at the Atlanta facility, that he is switching it to a high school an hour or so away? PFT, Florio and his cronies, would have you believe it was due to the NFL trying to set Kaep up with a waiver. The truth is it was a standard waiver that anyone coming from college would have to sign to participate in the same type of workout. Then this morning Schefter reports it was due to Kaep not being able to have his own film crew in there. Whatever excuse he wants to use, he purposely cost himself today. I have no doubt it was intentional and it obviously alienated Hue Jackson along with 17 of the teams' representatives who were going to be at the Atlanta location. For someone saying he would do whatever to get back in the NFL, he sure doesn't act like it. He acts like a man who thinks he can assert dominance over someone he claims to be seeking employment from. That's not going to work out well for him, nor would it work out well for you and I if we tried the same in our own situations. Now I will get to what I took from his speech at the end. He didn't take any questions, but only made a statement. First off, I look at everything. I am totally observant and aware of everything when looking at things like this. Before I pressed play, before I even listened to a word he had to say, I looked at the still frame. He and his group looked more like militants at a rally than someone trying to interview for a job. After that I pressed play. He claimed something about transparency. What is that? There were still going to be media to report, there were going to be 3 times the amount of NFL reps there, there would have been a former NFL coach running the workout, and the workout was going to be filmed. What transparency is he talking about? To me he sounds like someone who wants to control everything and the light with which is portrayed at all costs. Then he talks about the people at the workout being "attacked" for the last 3 years and that they continue to be "attacked" even now. To me he is trying to assert himself as some kind of messiah, a leader that people are suffering wrongly for and he plays off of this. I relate it to someone trying to take a form almost that of Christ, talking about the suffering that his followers have and are facing. He, again presenting himself as the head of something, thanks them for their service, and for presenting the "truth" to others. What "truth" would that be? This would be the "truth" that he and his representation want to portray as the "truth" to all of those in attendance or would watch elsewhere. He then continues to play the victim card saying he showed everyone today why he should be in the NFL, but the people there "know why" he's not. Again, he has already treated these people as servants and thanks them for their service to his "truth", now he is projecting himself as a martyr. Then, with 8 teams' representatives present out of the possible 25 teams' representatives he could of been in front of, he begins to attack the same teams he claims to be looking for employment from. He tells them they all need to stop running from the "truth", his "truth" that he is a victim of an unjust treatment. He also tells them to stop "running from the people". Again, it is basic psychology with this statement. He has already asserted himself as some type of leader in the midst of being martyred, thanked people for bearing the suffering that has come with following him, and now he is building them back up by including them as those whom the NFL and the owners are running from, trying to puff them up, give them a sense of power, and justification. He then continues with the thanking and mentioning of the people there and not there, promising to keep them informed and included in everything that happens from that point forward. Again, building them up by giving them a sense of inclusion in everything going on. Then he throws out there the big "IF" quite intentionally, placing a distinct emphasis on that word. Again, he is posturing himself as a victim and trying to drive his "truth" home that he is being martyred. He finishes it off by saying "the ball is in their court" at the end and saying "we're ready to go". Again, the using of "we" is purposely done to give those who have been with him a sense of inclusion in all of this and puff them up once again with his final statement. After watching it multiple times I genuinely believe this whole thing is more about posteuring and appearances that it is actually football. He seems like he is intentionally trying to continue to drive the wedge between he and the NFL. Fact of the matter is neither he, nor any former player still young enough to play, are owed anything from any team in the NFL. It's a business and a job just like anything else. Companies can choose to hire whomever they want. It's a privilege to play in the NFL and not something owed or a right. He treats it like he is owed something, like he is better than the others who for whatever reason are not getting signed by the same NFL teams as well. The sad thing in all this now I TRULY doubt he ever gets another shot and now the story will continue to drag on in it's divisive nature.

Stephen A. has never been one to mince words. To hear him come out, say this, and see how this whole thing unfolded makes me think he may be right.
-
I don't know what it is to be honest. I don't know if it's about football at all or if it's about posturing. The whole thing has just turned into a complete circus. It was said there were 8 teams who had reps there. I hope one of them makes a documented offer. After that it's in his hands to accept or not. Then after that I hope the circus is packed up and goes along it's way.

Yeah, ole boy looks like he's eating good for sure. He's not really fat, but he's not in the shape he was before.

Is there a role for Tyler Kroft on the Bills?
H2o replied to Phil The Thrill's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Knox is clearly becoming one of Josh's favorite targets, has been better blocking than most expected, and seems to be really effective even as a rookie. He's the #1 TE at this point. Now that Kroft is back he's either nothing special or is seriously behind due to the time he missed. More than likely it's the time he missed, but if Sweeney continues to improve in their eyes then I think Kroft may become expendable. This is McDermott though and he will likely lobby for the guy due to the missed time with the team. You know who shouldn't be on the field though? Captain Yellow Flag, Lee Smith. -
I'm at the point now where, despite my personal feelings on his actual ability, which as a 59.8% career passer and being benched multiple times before kneeling I don't think he is anything special at all, I hope he gets signed just so all of the petty bickering and division can be calmed at least, hopefully. All he can do is sink or swim. I get pretty disgusted with all of it to be honest. People arguing back and forth who's racist, who's not, why you're racist, why you're not. There always has to be a subverting agenda and not just a basis on what the other person feels they had seen when watching the guy play. The situation is what it is. People are who they are with each of them have their own opinions on police, this country, his actions, what they see him like as a QB, and the NFL in general. The lengths that people go to trying to paint an individual, in whatever light it may be, has been never ending since 2016. Are they're racists in this country and world? Sure. There are also people walking around with and equaling amount of prejudice within them towards others. We can all agree that nothing in this world, no country, no system, no government, no form of employment from top to bottom, and no person by any means is perfect. None of them, anywhere, at anytime, since the inception of the most basic form of human existence. His signing won't stop all of it. There will still be people who love to continue the argument because of the condition of their own heart and how they view people in general, but maybe it can at least help those who choose to do so mend some fences. Not just around the league and in this country, but around here as well. In the end, true change starts within each individual. Until each person sees themselves as they TRULY ARE, ON ALL SIDES OF THIS, deciding to do right by their fellow human beings in this world in the most simplest of ways, then the age old dissensions and arguments will remain no matter what happens.

Steelers Browns: who should get suspended and how long?
H2o replied to Kelly the Dog's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I think he gets 4 games. This is on the same level as Haynesworth raking his cleat across a guy's exposed head. On a side note, the rematch in a little over two weeks should be fun to watch. -
TNF: Pittsburgh at Cleveland, 8:20 ET on Fox & NFLN

Troy Aikman is a ######. Rudolph tried to pull Garrett's helmet off first. Myles is about 4 times as strong as him though and jerked him off the ground with ease. -
