Excellent analogy my friend. If you look at Lamar Jackson's numbers from this season 138 of his 265 completions were to guys 6'4" or better. That's over 50% of his completions. Josh had one guy that big, but he had like 18 drops this past year. We need to get the young man some big targets with a large catch radius. I am all about the Bills drafting Chase Claypool and I do like Pittman as well. Another guy who could be of some help, likely able to be had on day 3, is a guy Bandit mentioned in another thread named Omar Bayless from Arkansas St. He's 6'3", 207lbs, and seems to be everything you look for in a big, possession type of WR who will occasionally beat a guy deep and is a definite Red Zone threat.
-
I honestly believe that if we get a big-bodied WR who can go up and get the ball, as well as have the ability to beat a DB from time to time down the field, it will open up everything else for Brown/Beasley/Knox, and Josh will throw for 35 TD's next year. It will open up the field and coverages that much more. Now Josh will still have to read that defense correctly and make an accurate throw, but it should help in all facets of spreading out a defense and giving him options.

1. Chase Claypool / WR / Notre Dame - I've watched the young man play and develop at ND over the last 4 years. He has grown by leaps and bounds despite the inconsistent QB play he has had to deal with. He offers the big-bodied target Josh would love to have, has good hands, excellent body control, runs a solid route tree for a guy his size, has the speed to get behind a defender, and will go up to get the ball at it's highest point. Likely Day 2 selection. 2. AJ Dillon / RB / Boston College - AJ is a RB in an edge defender's body. He will straight run guys over, throw them off of him, has decently nimble feet for a 250lb RB, and has shown some breakaway speed when he hits the open field. I believe he would be the perfect compliment to Singletary in this offense. He can catch the ball, though he would need to work on that part of his game of course, even though he wasn't really used that way at BC. Likely an early/mid Day 3 selection. 3. Kenny Willekes / DE / Michigan St. - Willekes is a process guy if there ever was one. He went from being a walk on @ MSU to a 2nd Team All American. He is relentless on the field and has excellent lateral mobility for a DE. He also just seems to have a knack for sniffing out and then getting in to make tackles on running plays. The knock on him, apparently, is his power, but I've I've seen him bull rush his way through or straight throw out of the way the OT in front of him. You also better not let your TE try to block him 1 on 1. He will need to be coached up a bit on not getting caught with his eyes in the backfield so he maintains his edge, but I believe he could be a nice get for someone late Day 2/early Day 3.

Lions ProBowl CB Darius Slay is on the block - Rams in on it

It's a nice thought, but Slay is trying to get PAID. We already have one CB who is about to reset the market. The cost in draft compensation and cap isn't worth it. -

Could This Guy be a TE on Beane's Radar ?

C.J. Ah You -
Agreed. I like Clowney as a player, though I don't see them ponying up the cash to get him nor do I know if he sees this as a situation he wants to come in to. There are many different things to look at outside of the sack numbers. Hurries, knockdowns, pressures, and sacks are all important. They help paint the whole picture.

Trade Tremaine Edmunds, our 21 year old, 2nd year, showing improvement, coming off a Pro Bowl, MLB?
-
With Shaq Lawson having the same as Donald and Ngakoue, in a lot fewer snaps, @ 9 in total. I think it's also good to note that Clowney had 17 QB hurries credited to him if we are making that case, Shaq with 12, and Ngakoue with 9 (Shaq having played the fewest snaps of all 3 players and Ngakoue having played the most).

Sign: Jack Conklin / RT Trade For: Chandler Jones / DE Draft: Henry Ruggs III / WR
-
As others have noted, I can't see them going out and spending the type of money it will take to get a guy whom plays the same position we spent the #9 overall pick on last year. I think their main goal is keeping this defense intact as best they can while adding a couple more role guys. If anything is the "big fish" in FA for them I believe it will be a CB to pair with Tre, say Bradley Roby or Chris Harris.

Antonio Brown: Apology Tour - Preparing for return?

AB going to the combine? https://www.tmz.com/2020/02/15/antonio-brown-nfl-combine-meeting-apology/ -
Rudolph just responded:

As far as the compensation goes I wouldn't give up anything higher than a day 3 pick. A 4th would be as high as I go, but I would package it with one of our 6th Round picks as well if need be. The ESPN writer's take is purely speculation of course and based off of how he thinks Njoku would benefit from a change of scenery. One mentioned OJ Howard as well, which is another guy I would give up the same pick compensation for.

https://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/28640475/32-nfl-players-use-fresh-start-offseason-qbs-injured-stars#CLE TE David Njoku He fell out of favor under the previous regime, as he was a regular healthy scratch down the stretch after returning from IR after a wrist injury. Had coach Freddie Kitchens and general manager John Dorsey been retained, Njoku almost certainly would have been out the door. Still, while Njoku would have a fresh start under a new coach and front office, it's clear he was also losing the trust of QB Baker Mayfield. That's why the 2017 first-round selection might be better off attempting to resuscitate his career elsewhere -- especially if the Browns can get something that can help them in return. -- Jake Trotter He was a super talented TE prospect coming out of Miami who has battled a couple injuries, but has flashed on the field at times. I'd see if we could swing one of our 5th or 6th round picks for him. It may or may not work, depending on if Cleveland is wanting to part ways and what they would want for compensation. It's another way to add a potential weapon for Josh in a relatively cheap manner though.

It's a last ditch effort to shift the narrative and play off of something he knows the American public is susceptible to. Not to mention he comes out with it days after the fact because he realized the punishment that would likely come down. I believe Rudolph started it by trying to pull Garrett's helmet off while they were on the ground, but I don't buy the slur for a second.

Dak Prescott situation turning into a Kirk Cousins standoff?
H2o replied to HOUSE's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Dak's a quality QB, but not upper echelon. I have many friends that are Cowboys fans. The knock on him according to those friends is missing the open man on the intermediate to deep throws, especially in crunch time, and seemingly disappearing when the team needs him to throw them on his back. He's not a bad QB, but he's not a $35,000,000-$40,000,000 a year QB either. -
In a sit down interview with Mina Kimes he's still using the racial slur argument. I don't buy it. This is a guy trying to find a way to repair his image and justify his actions. https://www.cleveland.com/browns/2020/02/myles-garrett-mason-rudolph-called-him-a-stupid-n-word-he-tells-espn.html

So he got paid and basically turned into a bum? Pass.

good Joe B review of Allen's 2019 progress (vs 2018)
H2o replied to Hapless Bills Fan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Seeing the improvement from Allen, given they provided him with a few more resources on offense, is extremely encouraging. I want to see them get him a couple more REAL receiving targets in this draft and upgrade the OL again in FA. I still believe that Ford's best spot on the OL would be LG and I want to see us get a premium RT in FA like Conklin. If we do these things, as well as solidify the DE position, get a LB to replace Lorax, and some quality depth at CB? Yes, this team is going to make a run next year. -
