If Ruggs is there I'll take him. I think he will be very similar to Tyreke Hill. He will time fast at the combine, but if you watch the tape he is just as fast in pads. He's gonna be hard to handle for NFL secondaries. Not a fan of Shenault though.

Fify so Kirby was actually tagged

That's the price you pay when you think you have found "the guy" of course. If the Chargers get into the playoffs, because a bounce back year is most definitely in the cards, then the return on our investment is absolutely worth it.
-
The Chargers see Tua as more of a Russell Wilson type of QB and the offense will be that type of offense. Tua will have a solid WR corps to work with, a quality all-purpose back in Ekeler, and will put up numbers.
-
Tua and Tyrod will be in an open competition from the time TC starts. Tyrod will get the benefit of the doubt as far as 1st team reps early on, but we're not planning on Tua riding the pine. There is complete faith he will beat out Tyrod.

With the 3rd pick, the Chargers Select Tua Tagovailoa, QB Alabama. The NY Giants @NewEra are on the clock. This is an easy move for LA. The defense is already stout and they have money to overhaul the line and get another RB in FA if they want. Injuries put them in this position so they make the most of it. They don't know if or when they will ever be high enough in the draft to get a QB like Tua. Before the year Joe Burrow had for LSU, Tua was expected to be the lock #1 overall pick. Burrow happened and then the hip injury. The medicals are checking out just fine and Tua is a rare talent with good enough arm strength, accuracy to all levels of the field, and he knows how to manipulate DB's with his eyes. The Chargers now fully expect they have their new Franchise QB for the next 15-20 years.

Figured it had something to do with the NCAA investigation against MSU.

Yeah, the NFL is all about that dollar as well. They think putting a little more in the pot for the players solves everything, but I doubt it would in this instance. I think the drawbacks to having a team in London for the NFL players would kill the Jags in FA especially. I also think it would have a negative effect on the game as a whole due to the list of reasons I previously discussed as well as others that I haven't even considered. If that is what they are planning on doing with the 17 game schedule we would probably just play our extra game in Toronto. That would be the most logical move for us. As for the other 31 teams? Who knows? I think the short term outlook on the money aspect of it could be extremely detrimental to the league as a whole down the road.
-
I understand that aspect of it, but I can't see it being sustainable for the NFL as a whole. The players would have to pay taxes in the US and taxes overseas, because you know most of them aren't going to actually live there. It would be harder on players with families. It would mean that 8 teams would have to make the trip across the Atlantic on a yearly basis. It would also mean that the Jags would be flying back and forth from London to the US 8 times a year. It would be a crappy situation for everyone involved for the most part, but mainly the Jags players themselves. This is a hole of his own making though, Khan, so whatever happens rests squarely on his shoulders.
-
Shahid Khan is all about that $$$ (as are many other owners I'm sure) and he feels like this move overall puts more $$$ in his pocket. Can't blame him in the short term, but this isn't sustainable for success in the league or with his franchise imo.

McShay - Bills pass on WR and take RB Swift in 1st.

That would work as well -

This isn't gonna happen, in this universe or a parallel one. I can see us taking a RB to compliment Singletary in rounds 3-6 somewhere, if we don't address the position in FA, but taking a RB in the 1st will NEVER happen under this regime unless we are gifted a Barry Sanders clone. -
Gruden got a 10 year, $100,000,000 contract. Mark Davis loves him. He's not getting fired. I also don't think the Raiders are that far off from competing in the AFC. They have one of the best young RB's in the league, a solid OL, a couple of decent WR options in Williams and Renfrow, one of the best TE's in the league in Waller, as well as a 2nd TE who would be a starter on most NFL teams right now, and they have some legit pieces on defense. If they get a true #1 WR, a couple of solid CB's, and fix their LB corps then they are going to be fighting for at least a WC spot consistently (due to the Chiefs being in their division) even if they stick with Carr.

As a member since 2003 I find that hard to believe

This ^^^ If we had tackles that weren't as susceptible to speed rushers then Allen would be able to take a deeper drop. As it stands right now Daboll seemingly calls pass plays that take into account the offense's deficiencies as a whole.

are we overlooking the Lee Evans of this draft class?

I think this comparison is spot on my friend. Excellent. -

I understand your point as well and I hope we take at least 2 WR's this draft also. I just don't want us to automatically take one in the 1st for the sake of taking one. I'd be good with 2nd and 3rd or 2nd and 4th if it came down to it, but let's see how the rest of the offseason shakes out first. -

This is the deepest WR class I've ever seen. Just because they don't take a guy in the 1st Round doesn't mean they are going to "ignore the offense" for the entirety of the draft. There are still 9 more picks to make or work with for the Bills. If YGM, Wirfs, or Simmons are on the board, which they may not be, they should take one of those guys. I could even understand an Epenesa selection in Round 1 if he falls to #22. Right now everything is murky because we haven't even seen FA yet. Once we get through the end of March things will be a little more easy to guess at. We'll have seen who we signed, what Pro Days they've been at, and who they met with at the combine. -

Reagor is just another reason this is a once in a generation type of WR class. He's another gifted athlete and explosive play maker. I truly believe that teams will be finding starter caliber WR's all the way into the 4th Round this year. -

That we can my friend I think the only way he runs that fast is if he sheds about 10-12lbs before the combine, which players have been known to do. It's not out of the realm of possibility for him to run a 4.4, but I don't see it when I watch the highlights at 220lbs (if that was his playing weight).

2020 Mock Drafts & Top Prospects (2nd Annual Way Too Early)
H2o replied to thunderingsquid's topic in College Football
I like Baun playing WLB taking over for Lorax. I think he is plenty fast to drop in coverage or hang with a TE (we'll see at the combine), has an explosive gear when he goes to chase a guy down, and can obviously be used in blitz packages. I also think he could easily add 10lbs to his frame without losing a step. I considered him here for versatility on defense and the way the board shook out when drafting. I also went by how the rest of the players were ranked to guess where they might be when I drafted. The only thing that worries me is the foot injuries in 2017 and 2018.
