We didn't punt a single time, but had our red zone troubles coupled with a couple of crap penalties. At the end of the day it's a W. The defensive performance today is a positive and Josh is working to get back on track.

Explains that stiff arm when he does happen to catch the ball too

The only thing that worries me about Tua is his long term health. He's been outstanding when on the field, on the grandest of stages, and in clutch moments. His injury history though is something that sends up a red flag. I wish him the best because he seems like an all around excellent young man, except against the Bills of course.

Allen and went with Herbert 2nd, though I would be happy to flip a coin and take whichever QB fate handed between Burrow or Herbert.

Three Most Likely Outcomes For The Next 4 Game Stretch

I understand what you're getting at. But whose money gets pushed down the line and how does that affect us moving forward after this year? Yannick's contract was $12,000,000. We're through week 6. That seems closer to $8,000,000 for the rest of the year. We have less than $5,000,000. Even if they could have maneuvered the cap to scrape under, everything else I stated still remains. He'd be nice to have, agreed, but it would be a 10 game regular season rental and whatever else we accomplished in the playoffs. With our performances against the Titans and Chiefs, as well as the way the defense has looked as a whole this entire year thus far, I just don't see him as our missing link to a Lombardi.
-
I'd give up a 2nd for Williams. He was definitely one of the most talented players in the draft last year. I think a change of scenery would do him well.

For everyone incessantly whining about Beane, McDermott, and us not making a deal for Ngakoue have you actually looked at the broader spectrum of this? First off, we have less than $5,000,000 in cap space at this point and can't fit Ngakoue in for the rest of the season without cutting a couple of other guys. Could we cut people? Sure, but what if he gets hurt and you just cut your depth at the position? Then you're really screwed. Second, we have other guys with contracts coming up after this season. The salary cap is coming down, we just don't completely know by how much yet. The talk is about a $20,000,000 drop due to the circumstances faced this year though. Do you think we are going to re-sign him at $20,000,000 per season next year in light of that? No, we wouldn't. Third, is Ngakoue the missing link for this team to win a SB? Sorry, no he is not Bills fans. This would be a remainder of a season rental trying to put a Band-Aid on something that needs stitches. Yes, he has 5 sacks this year. He averages about 9 a season for his career. He also only averages about 30 tackles per season, which means outside of his 9 takedowns of the QB he is making 21 other stops over 16 full games. He's solid, but not elite. He's also lightweight for a 4-3 DE at under 250lbs. The Ravens are in a place, with the defense they already have, that he just makes sense there and scheme wise as well. He will get to be a stand up edge rusher now and I always thought that was his best fit.

Either that or a "Let's go Buffalo" here in VA. There are a few of us around this area.
-
But the Ravens don't have the same amount of needs we have currently on the defensive side of the ball as a whole. Their offense is set basically except for Lamar. Like it or not their, team overall is more talented than ours at this point being set up for a "win now" move as such. I also believe Ngakoue fits better into their 3-4 than he does our 4-3.
-
No, we're playing for this year guy. But the addition of Yannick only does much for this defense as a whole. Our deficiencies run much further than a DE we wouldn't be able to afford to keep when this season ends. He's also not Bruce, not Reggie White, not Von Miller, not Demarcus Ware, not Chandler Jones, not TJ Watt, and he's not either Bosa. He's just a solid player, who is lightweight for a true DE in a 4-3, and playing for a $20,000,000+ contract. You think he's going to get that here? Yeah, not happening.
-
The Ravens are in "win now" mode so this trade makes sense for them. Soon they will have to pay Lamar and they will also have some holes to fill next offseason with the fact being no one truly knows how much money will be available. This may amount to nothing more than a rental for a 3rd and a 5th in hopes of winning the SB. I don't see Ngakoue as the missing link for us so this really doesn't bother me.

Wowwwww, this will work out well for them as I believe that Yannick will have better production in that type of system.

Three Most Likely Outcomes For The Next 4 Game Stretch
H2o replied to corta765's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I got us at 3-1 for that clip and at 7-3 going into our Bye. I think our only loss will be against Seattle and I expect to be a closer, harder fought game than our previous two against contenders. I just think that no matter who the 2nd CB may be, Wallace or Norman, that it is going to be a matchup problem for us. They will also likely have Adams back by then which will provide a boost to their defense. I think the strategy against AZ will be to stop the run game and make Murray beat us with his arm. Not that he can't do it, but I just don't see it happening. I fully expect there to be a spy on him throughout the game, whether it be Milano or Edmunds, to take away his scrambling ability as well. Look for a similar gameplan to what we ran against Baltimore last year that was for the most part effective. -

Yeah, I completely believe the Steelers are legit. That defense is one of the best units in the NFL. The emergence of Claypool in that offense is also huge as now teams can't just double Juju all day long because there is someone else who can burn them. Ebron, though spotty with his hands at times, also adds another dimension that Ben has not had since Heath Miller. They really are a complete team imo. -

Quite the strategic move. This way when our DL gets bowled over they'll just blend in with the hashes on the field. -

I'm just happy I don't have to watch Baltimore this week. The Steelers vs Titans game ought to be pretty good. -
