  1. Incredible and emotional, but man this makes me feel old.
  2. Lol - not your everyday parenting dilemma. Honey, should we go watch the NFL team we own compete in the playoffs, or go cheer on our daughter as she incredibly makes a deep run at the Australian Open?
  3. Bill Burr was on Twitter last night warning Bills fans not to get too excited because Brady is still out there. Pats fans really believe 12 can still fix this for them — do they just all migrate to the Bucs now?
  4. For some reason one of the most satisfying plays for me was at the end of the half when Jones faked the spike to stop the clock and thought he had something going… ended up getting pummeled for a loss of ten. Clown show hilarity.
  5. Agree, just kind of wild that it’s even a discussion. Goes to show that nobody is untouchable at Ohio State. Meanwhile,
  6. Surprised to see JBook call out coach Mick the other day. It did seem like the defense was playing in quicksand at times this year, but I assumed it was scheme and not conditioning. Could there possibly be anything to this?
  7. Al Washington may be a good coach and a good person, but his resume at Ohio State for recruiting* and on-field results is terrible. Not sure we can call him anything other than a bust. *Although I'll give him credit for recruiting LBs in Ohio for this current class.
  8. More action… Austin Ward on Letterman Row says that these moves mean Coombs is gone and the Buckeyes have one too many coaches on defense. The expectation is that Al Washington is leaving too and Knowles may coach the LBs himself.
  9. “Don’t tell me about the labor pains; show me the baby.”
  10. The overhaul continues… Does this mean Coombs is gone?
  11. Had to happen….
  12. Ryan Day said at a press conference that he can't be involved in anything related to NIL deals -- can't even mention it. So, if the rules are that teams can contact potential transfers only after the players place themselves in the portal, and when they do they can't mention NIL deals, then maybe it's not quite the situation I presented above. Although as a practical matter, booster groups that provide NIL deals are likely able to contact potential transfers to go over the money piece.
  13. Nice — needed safety help. Sorry @ArdmoreRyno - this kid must have a great relationship with Knowles.
  14. With the rule changes, is there anything stopping a school like Alabama or Georgia from calling a kid who had a great season at a lower profile program (or really any other program), and offering him a million dollar NIL deal, immediate playing time, and an opportunity to compete for a championship if he'll transfer for the following season? Seems like that's where we're headed. EDIT: Not to single out Alabama or Georgia above - they just happen to be playing for the national championship this year. I'd imagine that Ohio State or USC or Florida or Texas or any number of schools would pursue the same path if that's what the rules and the market provide.
  15. They seem to like Jaxson Dart but we'll see. It's pretty wild out there with open free agency through the portal and big NIL deals both happening at the same time.
  16. Caleb Williams -- my goodness. Entrenched starter at the school that just produced two number one draft picks... This is getting serious.
  17. That was wild. Cannot wait until next year!!
  18. Predictions for the Rose Bowl? I'm concerned that the Bucks could take a loss here against a Utah team that by all accounts plays with great toughness. The OL and DL got pushed around by Oregon and Michigan, and to a lesser extend by Penn St and Nebraska too. Now with Petit-Frere opting out on offense along with Garrett on defense, Ohio State's woes in the trenches could be seriously exacerbated. Hopefully the loss of those two will be balanced out by an attitude adjustment after hearing about how soft people think the lines are for the past month. On the flip side, I'm super excited to see Stroud, Henderson, and Smith-Njigba ball out with the rest of the offense. I fully expect them to make a ton of plays and set up a glorious campaign for 2022-23. As for this season, it was frustrating to see the defense bottom out--especially at linebacker of all positions--and painful to lose to the rival. But it was also awesome to see Day make staffing and player changes on the fly to keep the team on track, unbelievably entertaining to watch the offense when it was firing on all cylinders, and with so many freshman playing all year at a high level it's hard not to be optimistic about the future. This game won't change any of that. It is the Rose Bowl though, and I don't want my school to put a loss in Granddaddy's history books, so hopefully these kids will "(1) hit the hardest, (2) start the fastest, and (3) be too damn smart to make mistakes," as Woody would say, and get another win in Pasadena. 35-24 Ohio State. Go Bucks!
  19. Next group up.
  20. And there’s the other shoe… Wilson was a great Buckeye!
  21. I'm sure that's right, and I completely get it. He earned a scholarship at Alabama, which is quite an accomplishment for a teenager in any event, and once the reality set in about his place on the depth chart, he decided to bet on himself with a different program rather than wait and see if he would eventually get an opportunity with the Tide. I don't know anything about him or his situation, and I certainly don't second-guess the Tide's evaluation, but it's a sign of the times that he was able to transfer to another program and make an impact. Even with all the chaos that the portal creates among CFB programs, it's good to see that kids now have the freedom to change their situations if they are able to.
