  1. I live in Chicago and nobody around here seems to be taking the game seriously. I listened to Waddle & Silvy (local ESPN Radio show) say Buffalo is the best possible draw to get the Bears season off to a great start – an automatic win at home. It’s tough but I’m keeping my mouth shut, because if I tell local fans to get ready for our blitzing defense, relentless ground game, and exciting young QB and receivers, these guys will literally laugh in my face. At that point I would have to either headbutt them in the face or walk away, and neither is a good option so I’m just going to wait and see what happens Week 1.
  2. Terrified. There are some good indicators out there and some bad ones. I don't trust Goodell on this because years ago he said he wants part of his legacy to be about taking the NFL international. Any hope comes purely from the strength of Buffalo's local interests. Like all things Bills, for my own peace of mind I have to assume the worst until any other result is fully achieved. Go Bills.
  3. I hear that -- although he made some decent reads, and nicely faked out the defense on the two-point play, under stressful circumstances. That was also two years ago; he improved last year. As others have mentioned, this is a guy who ought to come in for depth and a truckload of intangibles.
  4. Looks like Guiton posts from different threads are landing here. Anyway, not sure Tuel could have gotten this done -- the 2012 Purdue game had gone all the way bad. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IGSHFU8dU6k
  5. Which 2013 Ohio State quarterback set the school single-game TD record and was voted team captain? The backup. Guiton was able to run the Urban/Herman offense almost as well as Braxton Miller (at times better?), so I'm pretty sure he'll be able to fully understand the Bills offense based on what we saw last year. I'm pulling for him.
  6. Kenny G filled in admirably when Braxton Miller was injured early last season. The offense ran like a Ferrari. Urban Meyer was so impressed he went out of his way to get the kid the single-game touchdown record (six, all in the first half). I would love love love to see Guiton work out for the Bills as a smart, well-prepared backup whom could potentially coach someday. http://www.landgrantholyland.com/2014/5/12/5704092/2014-undrafted-free-agent-signings-kenny-guiton-buffalo-bills
  7. Agree - the Bills paid that guy good money only for his services as a booster. You'd think he'd refrain from needlessly buzz-killing my premature pump-up for the regular season.
  8. Between Jim's struggles (and those of his family) and Ralph's passing, I am complete trainwreck right now. Praying comfort for all.
  9. A pox on them all. After the past two years I've started blaming Fickell for anything that goes wrong in my life. Frozen pipe burst? Blame Fickell. Bad day at work? Urban shoulda fired Fickell already. Stub my toe? Fu&%ing Fickell. If I hear him talk about his "funnel" one more time...all it does it let an opposing ball carrier get 10 yards before being forced into the middle where our LBs can miss a tackle! Nightmares. Anyway, I hope we’re right about Roby and that he ends up with a good pro career. I was at the Iowa game and just felt terrible for the kid and the run of bad luck he had this season. On the other hand, I was treated that day to the play of the year by El Guapo. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=awikkRcSi38 Go Bucks.
  10. I am with you. All the measurables--his natural talents led to game-changing blocked kicks and highlight-reel interceptions during his time at OSU--but this past year he got beat a lot. It was unclear to me if he looked so bad, so often because (1) all the missed time late-summer/early-fall threw off his timing, (2) he lacks field awareness, or (3) the scheme Fickell ran was just that bad. When in doubt, I tend to blame Fickell . I read recently that the corners and safeties met and practiced separately last year without any meaningful coordination. During the games, I noticed that when Roby lined up way off the ball bad things happened all year long -- especially against Wisconsin and Iowa (before he was ejected), but also against Indiana and Illinois. When he played up close and tight, however, he looked good and at times great. So maybe in the right system he could thrive, but man after this past season I see Roby as a very risky draft pick. And it's tough for me to say that because he seems like a real good and talented kid who just ran into bad luck in 2013.
  11. Pagac ran the D at tOSU during some very good years in the 90s. The Buckeyes blitzed like crazy back then--earning their "Silver Bullets" nickname--so he may share a preference for the attacking style we keep hearing about on that side of the ball. Also worth noting that Pagac coached Pepper Johnson in college.
  12. He went to go get the papers get the papers.
  13. I am officially ground up and in the freezer about Pettine's interview schedule. Can't get anything done at work.
  14. I generally agree with this line of thinking. Let's not get carried away about Pettine after just one year out from under Rex's shadow. The defense is improving and losing him would be a step backward, but a reactionary move like firing Marrone to protect against Pettine leaving strikes me as extreme and would make the Bills look even more goofy as an organization.
  15. I've always liked Stevie but he lost me along with the ball at the end of the Atlanta game. Time to say goodbye and thanks for the memories.

  17. One of the first things Marrone said when he got here was that the Bills do not share information -- they gather information. I don't think the new coach is in this league to make new friends. So far I'm fine with all of it.
  18. Prayers and well wishes for #12 and his family.
  19. Well if we're heading in the direction of drafting inelligble players, why risk spending the eighth pick on an unproven and undeclared college QB. Draft Aaron Rogers.
  20. I really hope the new group does well and I'm along for the ride. But the above sits in the pit of my stomach like an anchor.
  21. Agree - today's press conference was the first time I've heard Chan say CJ didn't get more touches becuase the kid was "winded" after his early carries. This merits some follow up.
  22. No no no, it's "even a blind squirrel $h!ts in the woods twice a day."
