CFB National Championship game
Willyville Guy replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
No - Bama took the damn thing. The program, Saban, the whole thing is incredible. Congrats to the champs. It is my contention that Clemson fans must be especially miserable today after being so close despite so many terrible things happening to their team over the course of the game. -
CFB National Championship game

Clemson gave up two TDs on blown coverage, a blocked field goal, a kickoff return for a TD, and got burned on an onside kick ... and still only lost by 5. If I was a Clemson fan I'd be absolutely miserable. -
Congrats, Tide! Fun game; great win. Two huge special teams plays in the 4th is unbelievable. 4 nattys in 7 years is even more unbelievable. Enjoy the view from the top of the mountain!

I like your spirit and I'm excited to see all these highly touted recruits fight the team across the field, too. I saw someone mention on Twitter that there were a lot of redshirts this past year, so while the new starters won't be experienced at least they won't be green. That said... man, I don't know why so many of these kids are declaring for the draft. Some are obvious like Bosa, Jones, and Elliott. Guys like Thomas, Bell, and Lee look ready but could have gone either way as far as I'm concerned (Thomas certainly looks like a polished NFL-ready receiver but we have to admit he under-performed expectations this year). But do Marshall and Apple really need to go? Seems like they easily could have waited another year. I wonder if Marshall was upset about not getting the ball enough in 2015. I give Powell a pass because all of his friends on the team are now gone. I also worry about Fickell rebuilding the LBs on a defense returning just a few starters. Thank goodness McMillan will be there to hold down the middle. Plenty to think about this offseason. Go Bucks.

Thanks Tide for relegating MSU back to regional status in recruiting for a while. As a reward, you don't have to play the Buckeyes again (kidding)! Meanwhile, looks like TV ratings were way down this year for the playoff games. Nobody wanted to sit a watch a blowout as midnight approached. I'm not sure we'll see the New Years Eve format again for a while.

Yup - ended the season on a high note. Probably good enough for another top-five finish. Hubbard and the other youngsters give us a lot to be excited about in 2016. I'm ready for the Bowling Green game to start - Sept 3 isn't too far off, is it? GO Bucks!

Which NCAA HC could succeed as an NFL HC?
Willyville Guy replied to DisplacedBillsFan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Sparty nation can thank Jim Tressel for that cultural mentality. I think both those guys could do well at the pro level. -
Now EZE gets cited for driving with a suspended license.... This season has been painful outside one or two highlights. I'm ready for it to be over.

I'm hearing Schiano will replace Ash. Need to learn more about his ties to recruiting hotbeds.

Washington is officially suspended for the Fiesta Bowl following a citation for soliciting. He didn't even offer to tip her! http://www.10tv.com/content/stories/2015/12/11/columbus-ohio-adolphus-washington-was-busted-after-online-sex-ad-by-undercover-cops.html Here is a list of the Buckeyes suspended for a game at various times this season: Joey Bosa JT Barrett Adolphus Washington Jalin Marshall Dontre Wilson Corey Smith Not a good look for Urban and the Buckeyes.

Jay Cutler's brother-in-law found dead

Farve played in a game the day after his father died. He threw for 311 yards and four touchdowns in the first half. -

He should be allowed to take the mourning off to attend the funeral. -
I'm just not sure how MSU's D will deal with Henry getting 40 carries. The fact that EZE only got 12 carries makes it difficult to evaluate how Sparty will do against a top end rusher who keeps getting fed and fed and fed. On the other side of the ball, Sparty's backs run pretty hard themselves. Should be interesting.

Dissing Archie (of all people!) after the B1G game didn't help.

I'm actively trying to give it a couple years before allowing myself to get too upset about this stuff again. Championships are too rare to take for granted. I remember walking out of Sun Devil Stadium in 2003 after the Miami game thinking there were plenty more championships to come. I ran into an elderly woman in the stands taking in the moment with tears rolling down her face. She told me that after 1968 she and everyone else assumed the Bucks would win the following year and more after that. There she was 35 years later -- crying tears of joy and relief because she thought she might die before the Buckeyes reclaimed a championship. Meanwhile, as much as I like Dantonio and MSU's style of ball, I hope they get destroyed in the playoffs. Roll Tide this one time.

I have a bad feeling about the Fiesta Bowl.

Beating Michigan is always powerful medicine. Not sure how the post season will play out, and it's disappointing to think about what might have been, but like we said above repeating is almost impossible and they were bound to lose sooner or later. Last year's natty along with continued dominance over Michigan shows that we are in another golden era for Buckeye football, and I'm just enjoying the ride. Among the many satisfying parts about today was sticking it the eye of all the experts out there whom were sure that the team "checked out" after last week. Hi haters!

What a showing. Go Bucks!
-
Yeah, that hurts. Things still might break in OSU's direction but I agree that a loss was coming sooner than later. Dantonio won in very Tressel-like fashion tonight. Happy for him but... man, I don't even know where to start fixing the offense heading into the big one. A miserable day at the Horseshoe.
-
Me too. You probably saw the piece on 11W about how MSU is the angriest and most intimidating team we play -- because of the enormous chip on their should put there by "big brother." Their style of ball, plus Dantonio -- whom I'll always love for drawing up the defense that beat Miami for us in 2002 -- make it very easy to like and respect Sparty. This truly is a game unlike any other on the schedule.

JT insists that he doesn't have a "weenie arm" so I see no reason not to go deep to Thomas, Marshall, and Miller all game long. I'm going on Saturday -- and I cannot wait to get loud for Braxton Miller at his last game at the shoe. What a run for that kid. I think (hope!) he'll have a special night.

Preseason is over. Time to play the real games and see what this team is truly made of. Bring me that whole state up north!

Pac-12 looks out of the playoff picture
Willyville Guy replied to /dev/null's topic in College Football
Weird year for the Pac-12. At different times several teams have looked anywhere from amazing to awful. Utah, Stanford, UCLA, Oregon, and USC are all enigmas -- not sure many higher ranked teams would want to see any of them in a bowl -- and Arizona and ASU look pretty damn good on random weeks, too. I just have no clue if it's a deep conference this year with everyone beating each other, or if it's truly a down year. Bowl season will be interesting.
