  1. I don't need to see anything like that in Buffalo but I do like it when sports teams try to market themselves according to their region, and I think the Vegas pregame stuff is supposed to feel like a "Vegas show" so I don't mind the theatrics in their case but I don't need to or want to see any other teams trying to replicate that either.
  2. Back when I was younger I used to watch a lot of action movies that I thought were just Bad A**! But now I realize they were pretty crappy movies and that was an era trying to cash in on the Post Die Hard craze....movies like Con Air, Face/Off, Sudden Death, Double Team etc...
  3. That's a good question and I guess I don't even know how I would answer that myself. I love the Wonder Years and it's one of my all-time favorite shows. It's hands down the greatest coming of age show ever. I think it is considered a sitcom technically but when I think of sitcoms I tend to think of shows based off comedy. The Wonder Years did have some really funny moments but based on comedy alone I couldn't put it on my Rushmore.
  4. I know Rory's wife is from the area and that's been a big storyline but had no clue he actually met her at the last PGA there. Any evidence of this or are you just speculating that's when he met her? I'm just curious because if that is true then I would think that storyline itself would have gotten a lot more media attention this week.
  5. Likewise I remember when Walter Payton broke the record he said he was happy for him and he respected his game because he didn't ever try to run out of bounds and wasn't afraid of contact.
  6. Wow I guess I didn't realize he was that old now...he was Beast Mode before there was Beast Mode. The original badass RB
  7. Once again we are not talking about who is better...I would agree Allen is better than Kelly...but we are talking about level of being a Superstar. Jim came into the league already being praised as a star from his UM and USFL days, there was a huge parade when he rode into town in a limousine when he signed here..literally. The 1990 Bills were 7 point favorites going into Super Bowl 25 and the talk of the league. Hasek was the NHL MVP and carried the Sabres to a Stanley Cup finals. The biggest difference is the way we consume Sports nowadays everything is constantly crammed down our throats 24/7....make no mistake if social media was around in the 90s there would have been Meme's galore about how Kelly and Hasek and Bruce and Thurman were gods and the Dolphins Daddy etc..
  8. I would say it was trending that way but came to somewhat of a temporary halt with the way last season went. Don't forget how big of a deal the Super Bowl Bills teams were in their heyday and how big Hasek was when he carried the Sabres to a Cup Finals on his back. Allen is definitely a Superstar but I can't say he has eclipsed the stars from the Super Bowl years or Hasek or Gilbert yet and will be hard to do that until he at least reaches a Super Bowl. It might seem like his stardom is on a different level from those guys because of the way we consume our Sports nowadays with modern technology, Twitter, places like here, YouTube videos etc.
  9. We haven't had this caliber of a Superstar in Buffalo in a very long time...alot of Bills fans don't know how to handle it 😄
  10. I just watched the 30 for 30 about the Lakers-Celtics rivalry and would have to say that has to be the best era in NBA history
  11. Just out of curiosity what courses do you like playing in WNY?
  12. That was a good read, I enjoyed it. Rochester golf definitely blows Buffalo golf away. I don't have the access to play the private courses outside of a few here in WNY but even just judging by the public courses there's a huge difference in quality. But I never really knew the backstory to why that is so once again thanks for some good insight. Another awesome public course in the ROC area is Ravenwood! I noticed you mentioned Bristol Harbor is temporarily closed?? Any backstory on that...I was under the impression it was permanently under as new ownership bought the property and wanted nothing to do with running a golf course.
  13. Peek N Peak is another WNY course that I think would be considered tournament worthy. They used to host an annual amateur tourney there but not sure if that's still going. Guess I will use this thread to throw it out there any board members going to Oak Hill this week? I'll be attending Thursday
  14. And the NFL product just keeps getting worse and worse and will make it easier to part ways when that day comes instead of shell out extra $$$
  15. Reading the Sports section in the Newspaper to get scores, stats, and all the great articles was a staple of my childhood in the 90s. Nowadays I'll still occasionally check out the Sports in a newspaper once in awhile but by the time you read anything in there it feels like secondhand news.
  16. The only team that I can even remotely consider rooting for at this point is Florida
  17. I do think that's the reason he didn't make it up there but I feel like that's such a slippery slope as other guys that made it up there weren't angels either. Marv Levy actually wrote a letter to the Pegulas a few years ago asking for Bennett to be included on the Wall and referenced his "mistakes" and thought he still deserved consideration.
  18. It's been awhile since they have added anybody and with only 3 more years left at the current stadium it wouldn't surprise me if that were the case but does anybody know if they ever made an official comment or statement on this? My only gripe would be that Cornelius Bennett never made it on there....an important pillar of the Super Bowl teams.
  19. This was just a silly post poking fun at a post over on the main boards asking if Josh Allen is becoming too commercialized
  20. Easily gotta be the decade of the 90s for me...started off with the Bills Super Bowl runs, got to witness MJ and the Chicago Bulls win 6 championships, Sabres were usually at least in the playoffs, there was still a lot of bigtime Boxing matches back then, although not a Sport- Pro Wrestling was still fun to watch back then, NO SOCIAL MEDIA!!! It was a glorious time to be a Sports fan
  21. All that hoopla over the Maple Leafs finally getting out of the first round for the first time in 7 years only for them to go out in 5 games in the second round hahahahaha
  22. Love Biscuit he should definitely be on the Bills Wall of Fame but his NFL career was a notch below reaching the Hall of Fame Ruben Brown not even close to being a HOFer. He was very good but made it to some extra pro bowls than he should've towards the end of his career based on name recognition. Kent Hull was probably slighted on some Pro Bowls he definitely should've made it to more than he did.
