It's Hard to Win in The NFL is the only concept the Bills have mastered over the last 17 years

Some good replies so far fellas keep em coming
Another one that just popped into my head that hasn't been mentioned yet was the Hulk Hogan Ultimate Warrior showdown at WM6...at the time it was unheard of for two "good guys" to square off

I see we have some Wrestling Fans on here and I know right now It's Wrestlemania season. I don't really watch anymore but I did just see the Scott Hall documentary and like to reminisce about the glory days of watching it growing up so figured this could be a fun topic:
1) Wrestlemania 7
-My personal favorite was when Miss Elizabeth came to the rescue when Macho King Randy Savage was getting attacked by Queen Sherri. This was at a time when WWF was larger than life to me and the it just seemed so emotional
2) WrestleMania 13
-Brett Hart v.s. Steve Austin in the classic double turn face/heel turn. The psychology from both guys in the lead up to this match was fantastic and the ending where Stone Cold Steve never says I quit but passes out in the sharpshooter with his head busted open is one of the best finishes in Wrestling history IMO.

3) WrestleMania 12
-60 minute iron man match between Brett Hart and Shawn Michaels for the championship. Both guys bring their A game in the instant classic
Most Underrated WM match Brett Hart v.s. Rowdy Roddy Piper Intercontinental Championship Match at WM 8
If you are an old school Wrestling fan follow that link for an excellent in depth recap of the brilliance of that match and its lead up
You will never see professional Wrestling as good as this ever again sadly

Yes they are called Buffalo Sports Fans

I'm not an avid follower like I was in my teens and twenties, but I do like the Deliverance vibe of the family that you take your screen name from.
Here's a pic from a few years ago of my girlfriend and I dressed as the Macho Man and Miss Elizabeth for Halloween. We won top prize at the party we were at.
Oh, Yeahhhhh!
Awesome costumes man!

I think the Sabres are still a couple years away from being where I think most people think they will be even just next season. The Bills are going through a mini-rebuild process right now themselves so I think it could go either way but my prediction is we won't get our answer to this question for 2-3 years possibly

Should be good. Those were wild times behind the scenes in the wrasslin business. I saw Jake The Snake's Unspoken Word show when he came to Buffalo a couple summers ago and there were lots of great stories and some involving Andre

Hello All,
I hope you are enjoying the most commercialized and semi-sexist holiday of the year. All you guys out there be sure to buy your significant others a bunch of crap while receiving nothing in return.
First, a random thought to put everyone in a good mood: I just was listening to Bill Burr's podcast and he was naming all time great teams. He mentioned the 2016/17 Patriots half jokingly. Either way, it got me thinking the Bills were one of only two teams to beat them this year. At least we have that. As years go by, hopefully everyone forgets they were decimated by injuries and were playing their injured 3rd string QB.
On a second note, anyone have any good/funny Valentines day stories? I'll start. And sorry it's not that funny but I thought it was cool never the less.
When I was a high school senior (2000) I took my current girlfriend out for v-day to a Macaroni Grill. (At the time, this was the classist and most romantic place I knew.) Being a broke student, I was hoping to get out of there paying less that $50. As the meal was going down the waiter kept bringing us dishes we didn't ask for. Extra appetizers, a bottle of wine (even though we were clearly underage) and deserts. I was crapping my pants thinking about the bill.
However, when we had finished I asked for the check and the waiter told me, "Don't worry about the check. Another table has taken care of it for you." I was at first confused and asked what was going on. The waiter then proceeded to tell me there was an older couple who goes out for Valentines day ever year and picks up the check of a young couples table. Upon hearing this, I asked who the couple was so I could go over and thank them. The waiter said they wanted to remain anonymous and wouldn't tell me. Not knowing what to do, I just stood up and waived and mouthed thank you to the restaurant.
Despite my loathing of Valentines day I thought this was a cool idea and swore when I got older I would do the same thing every year. With that in mind I am taking my girlfriend out tonight and will be picking up one younger couples checks at some place classy. I was thinking of Mighty Taco or Long John Silvers.
Happy Valentines Day.
Not gonna lie when you first started talking about a cool Valentine' Day Story I thought It was gonna be lame but that actually was a pretty cool story I enjoyed reading so kudos to you Sir. Now get out there and pay it forward, Super Mighty's and 3-Cheese Burritos for all the young lovebirds out there tonight

i dont disagree, lot of good times there. but frankly, id rather go back to the FOOTBALL being the main draw instead of the debauchery in the parking lots. give me a winning team i can have fun watching, i can stand outside and drink anytime i want.
So when the Bills were a dominant team back in the late 80s, early 90s fans weren't out in the parking lots partying?
(I agree that nowadays that some of the younger kids are beyond obnoxious at an all time high new level but I think that's more of a generational thing and I don't think a winning team stops the hardcore tailgating, I think It might actually make it worse)
-
That's great and all but more importantly I hope they start spending $$$ on making improvements within the front office
-
Realistically and knowing Bills fans luck I have to say Dallas as much as it would suck

I used to work in a call center for a major TV provider so I talk to people from all over the country. I talked to a guy that said he was the team chaplain for the Cowboys in the Staubach era. I asked him what's changed between now and then. He basically said the same thing. They were just as bad, but the teams would deal with it and nip it in the bud before the national media got a hold of it.
Yeah I just recently read that new Brett Favre biography Gunslinger and the city of Green Bay really covered up for his ass big time during his prime 90s years. He was a wild dude in his younger years.
-
Would never happen because I don't think it would have the national appeal but It would be cool to see a doc about the Buffalo Sports Fan in general. Could interview alot of locals and recap some of the heartbreaking defeats we;ve been through and talk about how many transplants are all over the United States and all the Bills Backers bars all over the place, show the tailgating scene. I know it might not sound too interesting on paper but Buffalo teams almost have a cult following and I think if done properly it could be interesting.

Keep in mind most of those guys that have that holier than thou attittude towards sports were probably nerds that didn't play any sports growing up as kids and they are the ones that missed out...so I never really take it personally but it can definitely be annoying depending on how arrogant the person is.
-
I'd say it's the same as the regular media sensationalizing other stories. With a 24 hour news cycle, you gotta do something to fill the time on 4 ESPN's, and other competing networks. Plus each of the four major sports leagues have their own channel. All that before we even begin a conversation about online media.
I remember a radio interview from when I was young. "The Coach" was interviewing an old sports reporter from back in the day. They asked him why we always hear about players doing drugs, DWI's, hitting their wives, etc. Why do the players now have so many issues, when the players back in the day had so much class?
His answer was that they're not any better or worse. But the reporters only reported on the field stuff, so the "drama" was always happening, just not being reported on. They also didn't need to when the only sports news was what we read in the daily newspaper, and the 5-10 minutes sports segment on the local news.
That is definitely true. I'm not sure how far back you are talking but I know the late 80s/90s were absolutely wild behind the scenes between Lawrence Taylor, the 90s Bills and Cowboys teams, 85 Bears, Brett Favre and early-mid 90's Packers. I enjoy reading books from that era that give you the behind the scenes stuff so you see how crazy it really was and I'm pretty confident what was going on back then was actually much worse than the current era.

No. Michael Jordan is the greatest basketball player of all time but the NBA didn't switch their logo of Jerry West to the iconic Air Jordan pose, Nor should they!
You don't mess with history or tradition no matter what happens down the line. It's about paying homage to the pioneers of the sport. Lombardi's legacy will live on forever

This is much more credible than when Willis McGahee said it

Is it just me or is anybody thinking about how this is exactly the type of thing that would've happened to the Bills during their Super Bowl runs? I could just picture it being included in the 30 for 30 episode
