  1. You can't deny that the players are bigger, stronger, and faster..and that the schemes aren't more complex today. But for me personally I don't think it makes it a better product. I miss the days when football had more of a street fight feel to it. Nowadays guys are literally getting flagged for hitting guys too hard. I understand why the rules have had to evolve over the years as the size and speed of the players have evolved. If you took today's players and had rules from the 80s and 90s in place these guys would kill each other. But from a fan's standpoint I miss the NFL I grew up watching. It was the perfect combination of athleticism and physicality on display. Players also didn't seem to shuffle around as much back then and there were real rivalries. Game was also much less commercialized back then. But like I said earlier things evolve, nothing ever remains steady over 30 years. I still watch some games outside of Bills games but not nearly as many as I used to overall, which sounds like a pretty common point most people are saying. I would also agree it's not just an NFL thing either as the NBA and NHL aren't as enjoyable to watch as they used to be either. I will always be thankful I grew up in the era I did.
  2. But it's still fun lol. I get it though, I felt the same way trying to answer the Mt. Rushmore question for stand up comedians. Trying to come up with your Mt. Rushmore for any topic is always really difficult because you will be forced to omit people who are worthy.
  3. Today's NFL is such a week to week league that it's hard for me to think too far ahead. Will be an exciting matchup once it gets here. Would have loved for things to be normal and have fans attend for this one. Went to Pitt for the Sunday Night Game last year and had a blast.
  4. Really enjoyed reading the stand up comedian Mt. Rushmore thread that I wanted to keep it going with a new topic. Let's hear em! Jimmy Page Jimi Hendrix SRV EVH
  5. That was before my time but they say the stadium used to only draw somewhere in the 20,000's back then. It's crazy to think about how even during the leanest times and worst weather during the drought years you could still count on at least 50,000-60,000 showing up.
  6. It sure would be nice to finally break the AFC East drought. I am so sick of having to see that graphic of the last time each team won the Division and the fact that the Indianapolis Colts have won the AFC East more recently than us. We need to end that.
  7. It sucks we lost on that Hail Mary because our last drive to get the go-ahead TD before that was a thing of beauty. Offensively we have come so far in a short period of time. Beasely especially had himself another great game today. I still think we can shore up the defense and become more of a complete team in the years to follow. It was a hell of a game and the kind of game we could've only dreamed to be a part of during the Drought years. The players deserve to hold their heads high tomorrow as do Bills fans.
  8. Callaway golf products
  9. Defense has been pretty bad across the league this year so not too surprising in my opinion. Our defense has certainly kicked it up a few notches though
  10. Biscuit is the #1 choice hands down because that trade catapulted the Bills into a perennial Super Bowl team. I am really loving the Diggs trade though, over time this one could be pretty close. Takeo Spikes, Bryce Paup, Ted Washington, Sam Adams, Jerry Hughes, Mario Williams were all good acquisitions in their own right but none of those moves really transformed the Bills into a contender(I mean Washington and Paup really changed that Bills defense at the time so I get it with those guys)
  11. Ugh this is so so tough! Richard Pryor Robin Williams Eddie Murphy Ron White But Dangerfield, Chris Rock, Chappelle could've easily made my Mt. Rushmore depending on the day you asked me lol. I also love Artie Lange's standup personally. Bernie Mac is super underrated too
  12. My best comparison or least in my eyes would be a hybrid between Big Ben and Favre
  13. For what it's worth many of the players from back then are on record saying they don't think we go back to 4 in a row if they win that first one. Granted I think we would all take a Super Bowl win first and foremost but then the Bills just become another franchise lost in the mix. The 4 years in a row without winning one has certainly added a unique element to both the history of the Buffalo Bills franchise and the region of WNY. For a sports team and region that likes to have the underdog mindset it doesn't get any more underdog than that. I'm hoping we can get the monkey off our backs and go all the way next time. Could possibly be the most satisfying sports championship of all-time or at least right up there and that doesn't happen without the history of 4 in a row.
  14. I vaguely remember this but don't really remember the details now. I have mentioned before on this board that Josh Allen is panning out to be everything JP Losman was advertised as. I remember when Losman was drafted he was billed as having the Jim Kelly, Brett Favre swagger but we certainly never saw that on the field. Allen has it
  15. If Josh carries the Bills to being a perennial powerhouse, going to the playoffs and dare I say it Super Bowls Josh Allen will become a legend in his own right so that won't really matter anymore. As of right now Jim Kelly has earned the pedestal he has been placed on in Bills Country.
  16. This thread has been fantastic. It's cool reading all of the different stories and perspectives of where everybody was at in life the last time the Bills were a true contender. One of the underrated aspects of being a big sports fan is it spans different generations and era's. I'm not a huge fan of modern times right now but hopefully this McDermott/Josh Allen era Bills team is about to bring us some new happy memories
  17. I was playing Super Nintendo and Sega Genesis. Those days really do feel like a lifetime ago now
  18. Yes this was absolutely the signature win so far of the Beane-McDermott era. We have known since last year we can beat bad teams that we should be able to beat. But now we know we can play with the big boy teams in the league.
  19. Sleeper pick: Andy Cap's Hot Fries(have not had in many years but was always a big fan)
  20. I just got done watching a Documentary series on Netflix called High Score about the rise of video games from the very early years going up to first person shooters like Doom and Wolfenstein. I had forgot about how controversial Mortal Kombat was when that came out. Such different times lol
  21. What was the funny comment from Beane about preparing to face the press after they drafted him?
