  1. I'd never want to lose, but I did see the silver lining in doing so. I didn't pay $$ on my Sunday Ticket to watch the atrocity on D that I saw. I get it though, you're just one that refuses to see a point. Sorry about that, I can't help you there. Please try to go read the OP and see where II stand on this. Check this out... it's a tad dated (from '07, so add your updated info from there), but it's still not far from the truth of things. "Taking a look at quarterbacks drafted over a 20-year period from 1985-2005, the return on first-round investments is underwhelming. NFL teams drafted 242 quarterbacks overall during that time; of those, 43 were first-round selections. The average career for a first round pick through last year (2006) was 6.5 years and 70.3 games played with a 72.9 passer rating. The average league-wide passer rating was 77.3 during that same timeframe. Only 15 of those first-round quarterbacks (34.8%) have a career passer rating better than that mark. Only four of them have led the league in passer rating; only one of them--Peyton Manning--has done it more than once. Meanwhile, 12 have retired with fewer than 30 game appearances, and 11 have retired after five seasons or less". ?It's said that championships are the true measure of greatness. Among this group, only nine have appeared in Super Bowls, with six wins to show for it. Three of those wins are from the only current Hall of Famer among that group, Troy Aikman. Which means that sixth-round pick Tom Brady has as many Super Bowl victories (3) in the past five years as 42 first-rounders not named Aikman have achieved in the past 20". So again, do the Bills need an elite QB? SURE, of course we do... where is he? Do you see him? I'm not splitting hairs... did you watch us this year?? WE SUCK on D, We have no clue how to stop the run (or is it no talent?), so I'd rather we spend the pick on a more immediate finger in the dike. Fitz, given the amout of time in the pocket as all of the other 4 still in the playoffs, and with a freaking good running game, AND with a Top 10 D would be just fine. I just saw this... you must be a journalism major. Nice way to write something and pass it off as fact. Now THAT is "amazing". I said depending on who's there, there MIGHT not be a player worthy of the #3 pick. Now, that's more along the lines of what we need. Do we need AJ Green? Do we need Patrick Peterson? Like I also said... if, IF there's a QB that they're that high on take him, but load the rest of the draft on D.
  2. Colts/Bears SB was a match of two teams that had Indy/Chi both scoring the same pts a game (however if you remember that season, Chi had a TON of D and ST TD's), and Chi allowed approx 7 pts less than Indy on D. In that game Indy had both the better D and the better O. Indy also returned an INT for a defensive score to put that game away. Rams/Titans SB... lol... the Rams were ranked #4 defensively. They only gave up 15.1 pts a game. True, and that's never been denied. Now, where do we get "said" savior?
  3. Lol... you're WAY behind the power curve man... I guess none of the defensive players on any of the teams were 1st round draft pics either? BTW... if you read the OP you'd see it has NOTHING to do with what round a QB was drafted. We SUCK way more on D than we do at QB, and there is NO QB on the board that should be drafted at #3. hell depending on who's there at D at #3, THEY might not be worthy of that slot...
  4. True... Brady (considered a Franchise QB) LOST to a superior D Sanchez (decent/solid QB) BEAT an avg/weak D Just a single incident to point out, but there it is.... Yessir... and who do we need to beat to EVER sniff the playoffs? EXACTLY! This is exactly what I'm afraid of. Who knows... there might not be anybody worthy of the #3, and I've have no issues trading down (if we found a partner) and getting some extra picks to fill our numerous holes.
  5. Dumbest ever huh? Lol... you don't read these boards much do you? Honestly... The OP states that I think we get more impact at a D position at #3 than with Newton or Mallett. Hell, if the D player we need isn't there at #3, then trade the hell down, pick up the "savior" at 10-15 and get some extra picks (to use hopefully on D, TE or OL) I also mentioned a "franchise QB" and everyone ran off with a first round pick at QB... they conviniently leave out the fact that there a way more first round QB busts than their are that are worthy of that pick, but if they leave that out, it makes their arguments better, so whatever. We SUCK at stopping the run... SUCK at it. I don't care if Jesus was playing QB for us, when you give up 200+ yds on the ground for HALF OF YOUR GAMES, you will remain well below .500
  6. I'll stick to my post, I took Top 10 because... truly in the real world, it's all about the Top 10, just look at Letterman. Nno, actually I wasn't thinking or caring about the 12 playoff teams, was looking at stats and they were Top 10. I wont say I was wrong about ****. There is not a QB worthy of a top 3 pick... If the Bills find someone to trade down with and want to try their luck with Newton, or Mallett and pick up an additional 2nd, I'd be ok IF they could get their hands on some LB's and a DT that can play teh run and pass. After that they need a RT, TE and continue to pound D. No delusion there... but I see you like to argue for the sake of it... all good. Oh... and you ignored all of my %'s... how come? Facts are facts man... just because you ignore them doesn't make them untrue...
  7. Ha ha ha... Fail... why because YOU say so? So damned childish... Big flipping deal... hell, the Seahawks were playoff bound at 7-9... it's about WINNING THE BIG ONE brother... not just making the damned playoffs. You going to be ok with a Wild Card? Of all of the Top 12 QB's that you show only 2 are left. What's that %...16%?? Now, there are 4 of the Top 12 (why you grabbed 12 is beyond me... oh, yeah you were trying to fudge your numbers, but I digress....) D's still playing... that % is 32%. Last time I checked 32% was better than 16%... And "Roethlisraper" wouldn't be doing jack **** without a D and a running game. QB rating "can" be a sham and if you were a real fan, you'd know this. Brady has such a good QB rating because he doesn't throw much of anything past 6 yds, plus he has a helluva O line. Plus, you're again proving my point. You show 12 guys on there yet only 2 are left. However 4 of the top 12 D's are left. Of course you need more proof... so, you have 2 of the Top 5 QB's still playing for an impressive 40% way to go!! But... before you get too excited 4 of the Top 9 D's are still playing... that's 44%... again, the numbers don't lie... But... you should prob go re-read the OP again... because what I am trying to say is that WE NEED !@#$ING DEFENSE this draft!!! There is NO QB worth the #3!!!
  8. I'd be happy as HELL with that draft! Almost poetic.... If the Jets didn't get all up in Brady's grill, NE would be moving on today. NE's D gave up 5 more yds a game than we did... Sanchez's win today was akin to him beating the Bills... Mark my words... NE will get their hands on some D this draft.
  9. Do I need to spell everything all out for you? Seriously? We dont need to take a 1st round QB at #3... nobody is worth it there. Fitz is fine. The teams and the QB's there have their D to thank more than their QB's... THAT is my point, and has been. "Credible" defenses, lol... 3 of the teams left have Top 5 D's.... and the Bears were #9. Here are your Top 5 QB's... 1. Philip Rivers SD 4710 2. Peyton Manning IND 4700 3. Drew Brees NO 4620 4. Matt Schaub HOU 4370 5. Eli Manning NYG 4002 NONE of them are still in the playoffs!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! HOLY HELL!!!! Someone ACTUALLY read the original post!! Lol.... whoo hoo, props to you bro!!!! When your D suck's and causes your O to have to play catch up and be flipping predictable as hell... it becomes a problem. Get a damned D, and you'll actually see the O improve (granted we get a RT)... Here are your Top 10 QB's... Hmmm.. no Cutler, Roethlisberger, or Sanchez... Just because you were drafted in round one DOESN'T make you a "franchise QB". 1 Philip Rivers SD No playoffs 2 Peyton Manning IND Out of playoffs 3 Drew Brees NO Out of playoffs 4 Matt Schaub HOU No playoffs 5 Eli Manning NYG No playoffs 6 Carson Palmer CIN No playoffs 7 Aaron Rodgers GB Still in playoffs 8 Tom Brady NE Out of playoffs 9 Matt Ryan ATL Out of playoffs 10 Kyle Orton DEN No playoffs Here are your Top 10 D's... 1 San Diego Chargers No playoffs, QB better than Fitz 2 Pittsburgh Steelers Still in playoffs 3 New York Jets Still in playoffs 4 New Orleans Saints Out of playoffs 5 Green Bay Packers Still in playoffs 6 Miami Dolphins No playoffs, Fitz better 7 New York Giants No playoffs, QB not much better than Fitz 8 Minnesota Vikings No playoffs, QB sitaution a mess... I'd go with Fitz 9 Chicago Bears Still in playoffs 10 Baltimore Ravens Out of playoffs All 4 teams remaining = TOP 10 D! Fail may a$$!
  10. Something tells me we'll be taking a CB or WR then........
  11. Hmmm... that means the Jets had a great D... interesting....
  12. I'll throw this out to you yokels... Fitz, if given the same O-Line and D as the rest of the teams playing would be pretty equal to the task. I've never said that that those QB's weren't good and haven't helped their teams get to where they are now... I'm talking about OUR team... we have a QB... he's not superior, but for a guy to be playing what equates to his first, maybe second, full season (and behind the line he's had, and with the ****ty D, and suspect coaching staff), he's proven himself capable. What I'm saying is that you dont need to darft a QB in the first round... what round was Brady drafted in again... 6th. Sure, no ****... taking a guy early (IF HE PLAYS OUT... Leaf... Couch... Losman... Smith... etc... etc... etc) can pay dividends and help your team, but I'll take a damn draft full of D instead of betting the house on a QB, that if groomed properly, can be a solid leader for our team in 2014. I will guarntee that if we draft D properly and heavily you'll see a better return on our investment. Thanks for proving my point... a 51-45 score... GREAT DEFENSES there!! QB play is NOT overrated at all.... do you need to go re-read my original post??? I think Fitz is good and there is no need to draft a QB at #3... THAT'S WHAT I'M SAYING (had to yell, so you would understand this time). We need D, D, D, D, D and more D... solidify that and we're NOT a 4-12 team... I guess you enjoyed getting run on time and time again?
  13. Again.... my point was that Sanchez was there today because of his great D... NE's D was rated in the bottom of the league... He's a good QB that has been helped TREMENDOUSLY by his D and his coaching staff... (didn't I already say this?) Rodgers is playing out of his ass... but again... for all of you who DONT GET IT... THOSE "FRANCHISE QB's" STILL PLAYING HAVE GREAT D's!!!! If Fitz was the Jets QB... they'd STILL be playing in the AFC Championship... But again... ALL of the QB's remaining are playing with GREAT D's... Damn, do you people noit get it?!?! Yes you need a QB, BUT what I'm saying is that there isn't an Andrew Luck out there for us... Newton, Mallett... neither worthy of the #3 overall. GRAB SOME DAMNED D!
  14. Another clueless wonder... Rodgers is right now winning playoff games, what has he done BEFORE this year???? And, he would have been your what #4 QB?? Big deal... of course there will be some great QB's that move on, but I bet most would have thought Brady, , Manning, Brees, or Ryan would still be standing, BUT a solid D kicked their a$$... Right... GOTCHA.... GREAT point. I suppose NONE of the defensive players were first rounders.... good freaking grief!!!!!!
  15. Right... and check the defenses they beat for those rings... Brady played one real tough D that could pressure the QB and stop the run and they LOST to that NYG team.
  16. Sanchez has the HUGE advantage of that D... Please spare me anything about him playing in the AFC Championship game. The kid is good and has room to grow, BUT the only reason that he's still playing is because of that defense and that coaching staff. I say good day!
  17. So, down goes Manning, down goes Brees, down goes Flacco, down goes Vick, down goes Ryan, down goes Brady.... To all of you that think we NEED a QB at #3 this year (none worthy at #3), once again... here is a CLASSIC example of the need for a solid defense. This years defenses prove once again, that a top D is the tonic this team needs. It will give this team the attitude this team and city needs. You want to grab a QB in the third? Ok... no issues, but that better be after a selection of a DE/DT and a LB. Buddy... SOLIDIFY the D through the draft AND through FA. Don't bank on Merriman being "the man"... he's an unknown at this time. Go draft help, go pay the $$ for FA help... The O can use an RT an TE and some depth too... BUT... I hope you're paying attention this post season... D, D, D, D, D, D!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  18. Evidently NFL owners with AFL roots just have no real football sense anymore.
  19. No reason to apologize There are a lot of passionate people around here with very strong opinions... nothing more, nothing less
  20. What?? I hope you see that I'm saying defenses were a large, LARGE part of those teams being successful. I don't believe for a minute that any of those teams win anything without their defenses.
  21. No. Jeez we need a TON of help in every flipping position. It's not even about McFumbles and Lee as it is about another 1st we give away when we should be stockpiling picks and getting more help with multiple 2nd and 3rd round picks. I know a franchise QB is "worth it", but how the hell do we know he's a franchise QB? I mean... he's good, but is the California kid all that? I remember how Tim Couch was a cant miss... as was Ryan Leaf, as was David Carr, etc, etc...
  22. Ok... so are you saying that these teams DIDN'T also have very good defenses as well??
  23. A small stipend is needed. For those of you who think that the student atheletes (this case football players) make a lot or get enough in return for their services in the form of tuition+room+board, you're sadly misguided. Those of you that have played the game at a high level know exactly how much time is needed in practice, film room, working out, etc. These athletes dont have the time to do all of that, do their studies, AND work for spending $$ Another student can at least have a part time job for spending $$. This is where the stipend is needed. If nothing else, give them something so they do stay away from agents and such. Why the hell do you think that happens? Because they have $$?? No, it's because they don't. I wont argue that these student athletes aren't getting a free education, etc, but compare them to another scholarship earning student. What does a student with a full ride Academic scholarship do for a school? How much $$ is he/she bringing in? The Academic scholarship student gets the same education, but they don't bring the $$ like student athletes bring in. This is big, BIG business people. And, since it's a business, you can be rest assured that people (not students) are raking in TONS of loot. I don't think that student athletes need to be paid large sums of $$, but a stipend is warranted.
  24. We need more talent at LB, plain and simple. We need it on both lines too. Hit FA, spend some $$ and draft like we did in '85.
