Adam Schefter: Denver is taking Miller at 2
McD replied to Deep2Moulds46's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
If Dareus and Miller are gone, take Fairley. I'd be happy with the "pissed off monster" on our line. Stay the HELL away from Newton and Gabbert in the first! -
The sad part is... the front office has earned this kind of second guessing and pessimistic view. Until they show otherwise, this mindset will remain...

Dont be suprised if you hear this name called

Gotta love the Dumb and Dumber referrence! I've not put much stock into the draft as of yet... there's too much smoke and mirrors going on right now. The constant is that we need help primarily on the D front. Saying that, I'm not completely sold on any one player there. They all have some pros and cons, but who's really worth it at #3? I like Dareus, but I'd LOVE him at #10 with a trade down, and there's not much chance at that happening, but stranger things have happened. A lot depends on the FA market as well. All I know is that we need to cut our rush yds against down quite a bit AND generate a pass rush without the use of LB's. If we do that, we're sitting at about a 9-7 record with the current offensive talent we have now. i can live with that as a good buliding block going into the 2012 draft.... -
Forget About a QB this draft and STACK the D
McD replied to LoveTheBills's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The Rams had the #6 defense in the league that year, hardly "so-so". I've stated this many, many times, but people are ignorant to this fact. Build the D and the wins will come. Do I believe we'll go QB in the 1st...? Unfortunately, I think because the D is fairly deep in the draft, we will "reach" for Newton. Thank you..... -
It's more about need IMHO. We NEED D!
-
Can you all please explain the fascination with Newton? He's big and quick, but.... can he make the reads..? Can he make the throws??? I've seen nothing from him that makes him heads and shoulders above everyone else. He's had one year of successful Div 1 ball (Maybin), and while it was a great year, can you all HONESTLY evaluate him this high? Can we just go get some people to stop the damned run and rush the QB? The Pats, Jets, and Fish are going to continue to beat us because we can't get to their QB and we sure as hell can't stop the run, but Newton will help that right?.... ridiculous! Only... ONLY if the front office makes a play for a DT/DE in FA and/or REALLY believes in Troup and Carrington, AND we go after DT/DE and LB in rda 2 & 3 will this experiment have a shot at working.

Keeping the same 5, I'd go: 1. Fairley/Dareus 3. Bowers 4. Quinn 5. Green

So much for the NEED to have a "franchise QB"...

OMG!!! I LOVE this... you are all still hammering this, yet NOBODY seems to see that GB had what... 3 T.O's INCLUDING a defensive TD and it's still all about Aaron Rodgers huh?? Too damned funny. So Aaron gets all of those pts WITHOUT the D's help right?!?! You're a damend JOKE if you claim otherwise. What did GB have... 21 pts off of T.O's?? YEP.. it's ALL about the QB. Nice to see how the MVP voting is set up to make the QB the "man". Without the D, GB has no chance at tonights win. Funny thing is.. I think Rodgers had a hell of a game, but again... he DOES NOT have those chances without his D... NOT AT ALL... And... so "FRANCHISE" Ben has the game in his hands... more than 2 minutes to go down and score... and yet....??? Here it is... for ALL of you franchise QB guys... here's his chance... and he does...................................NOTHING!!!! But... why does he do nothing? Because he's playing against a KICK ASS DEFENSE!! Lol... y'all are just too funny! D.... D.... D.... D!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! All Day long! Did you NOT watch the Bills against the Steelers earlier this year?? If Stevie catches not one, but TWO perfectly thrown TD's from Fitz, the Bills win... Fitz has enough to win... now go get Marcel Dareus! Why...? Because you say so? NEXT! It's a great thing to have a franchise QB, BUT.... get a damned D first! -
Faulk was a great back, no doubt, but I'd like to see his numbers playing outdoors in Buffalo as opposed to the domes he played in that catered to the wide open offenses he was a part of. This **** is so subjective its sickening...

Let's hope they realize that Reed also played in Rich Stadium, which is well known for it's harsh conditions the latter half of the year, and the wind could ALWAYS be a factor, no matter what time of year it was. Here's the thing... it doesn't matter what we say here... these writers just don't "like" what Reed has to offer, or what he accomplished. I think many of them feel "obligated" to put in Brown or Carter first. That thought process is simply ignorant.

Hell, I'm 41 and I'm STILL growing, lol.

I'm liking Miller. Love took a serious DIVE after what he's shown or NOT shown this week.

the Bills gameplan for the franchise?
McD replied to Buffalo Barbarian's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The article is SPOT ON! Not to knock the article or anyone who's discussed this on here, but... this is not new news! We've been clueless for years. How in the hell else do we draft a damn RB at #9 when we had multiple GLARING needs elsewhere? Why keep on taking chances with "reaches" in the first few rounds?? Sometimes I wonder how the hell some of these personnel guys got jobs. I would think that this board could come up with a better draft scenario than our own FO. The only wild card is Ralphie... how much does he get his fingers into their business. If it's not him, then who/what the hell has kept them from seeing this issue?? -

Is it April 1st already?? -
I think when you're already "set" with positional players, you can go by BPA. I see the argument to do so, but damn, can you do this every year? What if the BPA every year is a WR? How many will you take in a row JUST because he's the BPA? I like Green a lot, but he's a positional player that wont ever see the ball if Fitz doesn't have blocking and/or the D can't get off the field. People will argue against this (COOL!), but if there's another player there worthy (or very, very close to it) of the #3 pick that we NEED to have DT, DE, LB, RT as opposed to a WR (that we DON'T NEED), that's who I think we should grab. Green would have to be off the charts better than everyone around him. And, I hope the Bills are following a plan of some sort when there building this roster...

Fitz beats at least 4 of those beards.

First off... that game was UGLY! I won't lie, I'd RATHER see a more open game for entertainment purposes, but if you ask me if I'd rather win 6-3 or lose 31-28? Ummm... I'll take the win thanks. N.O's offense was killer that year... over 400 ypg on O. As far as NE in '01, their O and D were both bad... hell they were below avg in both O and D. In their other SB years they ranked #7 and #9 on D. St. Louis also had a top D the year they won the SB (ranked #6), and Indy's D played off the chain in the post season... they led all playoff teams in D, allowing only 238 ypg in 4 post season games. Give me a RT and a TE on O, but then give me a DT, DE, ILB and OLB X 2, and maybe another S (depending on what happens in FA) on D. Almost all of those need to be doubled on D for depth... it's that bad. -

It took you what 2-3 hours to come up with this worthless response? Check the very beginning of this... I had no problems with Luck, but after he was gone, EVERYONE was clamoring that we take Newton and or Mallett/Gabbert with our #3 because "by golly" he'd be our savior!! I said none of them are worth the #3 overall, and that we need to stock the D because we SUCK there. You're right, it might take time to get the D up to par, so what should we do... keep dragging it out by taking a single guy a year that MIGHT make a difference? Hell no, go LARGE on D as often as we can. Do we need some O? Sure. GO get me a TE and a RT. DO we need a QB? NO! I also siad I could see the thought process of trading down and getting more picks (for the purpose of getting more and more D players later) IF it was what they Bills (Chan) thought was good for the team. Newton at #10-15, with an additional 2nd and 3rd I could swallow as opposed to Newton at #3 holding a clipboard for 3 years, OR worse yet, throwing him in too soon and ruining him. This thread also went on and on because others wanted to try to hit me from all sorts of angles... AND? It was discussed and moved on. Did I ever stop mentioning the need for D?? Hell no! And I wont. -
I have every one of those games on tape (tape, lol!)... and I still haven't watched a single one of them.
