I think (I should say hope) that the new uni combination with the white helmets will look a lot better in real life to those who dont like it, as opposed to what they've seen on a few video game stills.

HE did?!?!?!?!?!?!?! Ha ha ha... I agree he was on the "bus", he wasn't the driver, Sanchez was only along for the ride... Here's the thing... will he be better than Fitz...? Maybe... he "supposedly" has more potential, but that equates to what really...?? As of right now, I'd take Fitz over Sanchez. We'll see how Marky Mark does this year... it should be a breakout year for him.

Sanchez had NOTHING to do with the last Bills game, so why would you include it...? There are SOOOOooooo many damned variables out there it's ridiculous. What team they played, where it was played, what time of season, was the team fighting for a playoff spot or not, how well did your defense and ST's play, how many T.O's did you create, what was the gameplan, how well did your running game work...? etc, etc, etc.... You'd be a fool to expect a 100% accurate comparison, but if you do... then just look at the stats straight up (and in reality... Sanchez got to play against the Bills D while Fitz had to play against the Jets D)... that's a bit unfair isn't it...? Name .....Team.....Comp....Att......%......Att/G....Yds... Avg... Yds/G.. TD.. Int.. Long.. 20+.. 40+.. Sack.. Rate Fitz............BUF.....255.....441.....57.8.....33.9....3,000...6.8.....230.8....23... 15... 65T.. 39.... 8.......24..... 81.8 Sanchez.....NYJ.....278.....507.....54.8......31.7....3,291... 6.5.. 205.7...17... 13.... 74T.. 43... 10......27......75.3

Looking at the official NFL site they have our TE's as Stupar 12-111yds 0tds, Martin 4-43yds 1td, Nelson 3-25yds 0tds, and Chandler 1-8yds 0tds... tally up their numbers and it reads just as bad 23-187yds 1td. That IS criminal! Now taking a look at Jason Witten's stats, you see how important the TE position is. If you look at JUST weeks 14 & 15, his stats are 17-209yds 3tds. Lol... now I don't think Witten is THAT much better than the TE's we have, but it does show that if you have a gameplan and utilize the position, it can be a HUGE asset!! Make it so Chan!

Lol... this is nore more indicative of his play that the OP. Again, too many variables. These QB's aren't running the same plays, nor are they behind the same O-lines, in the same game conditions, with the same supporting cast and coaching staff. All of these come into play whether you like it or not. -

See the above bolded words and you tell me what in the hell "under pressure" means... it's subjective. Does that mean you're a QB standing behind the best O-Line in the NFL and some D player has a "pressence" in the backfield (he could get picked up by a solid blocking RB too, then there is in effect NO pressure). Or, you could be Fitz, standing behind a hodge-podge group of an O-line that played admirably, but are far from the leagues best. There is a VAST amount of variables that will never show a true picture here. At least have all of the QB's in this article play within the same parameters if you want to show an objective analysis... You want better QB play...? Then get better O-line play, a solid TE and a running game on one side of the ball and then get a D to stop people so we're not always playing from behind and the opposition wouldn't be able to pin their ears back and go after whoever we play at QB. -
Thank you... I won't even read anymore of this, lol...

All subjective man... there's no way to possibly substantiate these stats. You don't know how many passes were dropped, how many QB's played in ideal weather conditions vs ****ty weather conditions, etc... Tell you what, take these stats and measure them against some of the variables I (and others) have posted. O-line play, playing from behind vs ahead, having a good pass blocking RB, having a good TE that can read/run hot routes. You'd get a lot closer to what the original article SHOULD have been like, but it's too damned hard to do, so he just threw out other subjective "facts". Again.... what does "breaking through the line" mean... and who determines it...? -

Alpha, I think most all Bills fans feel the same way about Fitz. Here's the thing, I know he's not "THE" guy, but I feel we had other needs that needed addressed elsewhere (Defense), and I'm just fine with Fitz running the O for an entire year (well hopefully we have an entire year), training camp included. As for the article, I'll still not agree on the premise that if our D didn't suck as bad as it did, we wouldn't be trying to press the ball and Fitz didn't have to try to make plays instead of just playing the game as smrtly as he could have if we were playing with the lead. If you've ever played the game you know what I'm talking about. -

And as to this point... would you rather have a QB that throws the ball away when he's hurried, or takes the sack a'la Trent Edwards...? So, a QB throws an incomplete pass... that could be a POSITIVE, but it doesn't break that down. -

I don't agree... all of this is SUBJECTIVE... what does "breaking through the line" mean, and who decides it? If I'm a QB with a great O-line, playing with the lead, with a great pass blocking RB and a TE that can read and run a hot route, it makes ALL the difference in the world. If you think NONE of the above holds any water then we shouldn't play any football games on the field and annoint the Packers, Steelers, Patriots or Saints SB Champs already... -

Yes I watched those games (hell, I was at the KC game)... so what you're saying is that we're going to be selective on how we view stats?? There's no way Fitz and Kelly will ever be confused for each other, but the thing both of those guys do is LEAD, not manage games. Fitz does have a presence... nothing near Jimbo, but compare him to any other QB we've had since Flutie. Again, we're asked to view ONLY a set of stats that do not show the fact that Fitz was being asked to play from behind nearly all the time with a mediocre line and mediocre talent (compared to Kelly and/or the best in the league these days). And when you play defense against a QB that you KNOW will be throwing the ball, you stand a MUCH higher chance of causing a turnover, etc. Can we agree to this...? Lol... comparing Jim Kelly to 95% of every QB that's ever played the game is a "no ****" answer... -

You're on crack. First things first. Fitz did enough to beat Balt, how was it his fault we fumbled in Balt territory? Fitz did enough to beat KC, Lindell just couldn't kick the damned FG twice. He did plenty to beat Pitt... And I agree he would've beaten Mia the first meeting. You didn't point out that he had a 92.4 QB rating against NE the first game and a 121 QB rating against Jax. I'm not saying Fitz is a great QB, but comparing him to Kelly is silly. I think many of you would agree Kelly had a much better supporting cast on O and a WAY better D and ST's play. Again, this thing is fun to look at and discuss, but in no way is this totally indicative of QB play. You might point out that a lot of the top QB's are "rated" right where they should be, but you'd fail to point out that they all had much better supporting lines (who wouldn't play better QB if you BELIEVED in your O-line..?), and better supporting offenses (TO INCLUDE TE's, a QB's best friend in the face of pressure!). SOOoooo many variables... Lol... well, it's a Monday isn't it...? -

Round 7 (Pick 245): DT Michael Jasper - Bethel (TN)
McD replied to BuffaloBill's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I wont deny this to be true... the man did weigh 448 lbs this past football season. He's now "down" to 375-390 lbs range. Thats a HUGE loss, and will impact his stamina tremendously. If he gets down to 350-360 lbs, even better. And... really, how much stamina do you really need to play 15 downs in a game...?? -
Nice write-up; too bad most "professional" writers don't have the ablity to breakdown the Bills' true needs compared to the "truth" of last season. Numbers don't always tell the story here and the additional secondary picks were definitely a need. Now... find a TE and a QB in FA (whenever we have it) to help fill those other big needs.

I looked on the school website and they show him as 390 lbs now, and 400 lbs his junior year. When was he 448?? That's just an incredible weight... -

This dudes size is impressive. I know he's 390 and moves well, but I wonder if it would be better for him to stay this heavy or drop 30 lbs? -
Miller seems to get swallowed up by lineman. If people just run right at him he's done.... What if the name is Fairley...?

Fitz might not be "the answer", but we are more than serviceable at the position, which is more than I can say for the D side of the ball. GIve me Dareus in rd 1, and a LB like Ayers or Houston in rd 2. Fitz worked MIRACLES out of a hodge podge O. The O line got better, but could use a few upgrades, amybe a ROT in rd 3? Look... we GET IT... people don't want Fitz, but the man played well. Give him a damned D and some help on O and we'll be fine.
