I don't think I'm being pessimistic at all. I see it as realistic. The LB play will show it's head quickly. Teams will go to a 3 step drop and kill us with slants, underneath patterns, bubble screens, and seam patterns... moving the chains at will. Ok, that's what I'd do until it was stopped. I like the makeup of the D with the exception of the LB play. On the O side, I have to see consistency from Fitz as well as another WR stepping up and being productive. The Jest game will not tell you the story of this Bills team (unless the Bills were to lose badly). To me they have a 60-70% shot at winning that game, but it should be 80-90%. We'll see...

Luxy... C'mon brother, we all know the 90's Bills OWNED the 1st qtr of their games and didn't give a damn about the outcome. I've not seen a dominating performance yet by our O. Honestly, I could care less what the rest of the League does in the preseason. We know the Pats will be fine, we know the Fins will struggle, but the "Jest" are still a mystery. I agree we added talent, but I played football, I coach football, I know football. We need some better QB, WR and LB play, or we too will struggle. Brady will KILL our soft middle as will the rest of the league, then we're asking Fitz to light it up all season long....? That's a concern to me.

McDebbie, lol... nice! I'm a 43 year old lifelong Bills and Sabre fan... it's tough to stay "positive" all the time. Loyal yes, but damn this bad stretch has really taken its toll on me. To me there's always hope, until we're out of contention. I just won't set my hopes as high as I had them a month ago. If I do that I stand a much better chance of not suffering a heart condition, stroke, hypertension or severe depression, lol...

... After seeing the preseason, I'm not as excited for this season as I was a month ago. I'm hoping that the "Chan Gang" can work out some kinks and cover their weak spots, but until I see it I'm not convinced. I was thinking a 9 or 10 win season was doable, but now I'm thinking 7 or 8 is more realistic. We still need another WR threat and better QB and LB play. I'm just not thinking that it will automatically appear week 1. Any thoughts to the possibility that we get things straightened out before the "Jest" game? McD

I always enjoy BB's videos; a good blend of witty humor and good football analysis. Nice job man.

Ha ha ha!! Damn near spit out my coffee!

They are indeed. I have attended many an Aces game while I was stationed there. Those are their colors as well, lol.

This is a good monicker for our defensive line!

Is there a bounty on Stevie Johnson for week #2 ?
McD replied to HOUSE's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Watch that video. If Berry continues running (instead of stopping and planting his foot), he gets taken off his feet, or jumps the block and is slowed down by Stevie and is no worse for the wear. Now if Stevie was in front of Berry and went after his knee (instead of a straight up block) I could see the issue, but damn, he was behind him trying to catch up to Berry to cut him off from getting in on the play. Stevie didn't try to hurt the man. Damn, will this crying ever go away? -
Thanks for your service!!! I joined the Air Force in '88 and still have a few years left in me before I punch. I've been all around the world, but there are few places that can hold a candle to what WNY provides in all facets of life and good honest living.

Bills still need a TRUE #2 WR, A pass covering/run supporting OLB, a playmaking TE, and the OL to gel... do we already have these in the cupboard? I'm not sure we do, but we have all of camp to find out. Hopefully, "IF" there are better pieces out there to get (starters/depth), we get them soon. I still think we're a year out, but I'd like to hit next years draft with no true NEEDS, but rather BPA across the board.

12 Reasons why the Bills were bad last year

Have these not been the reason we've sucked nuts for the past decade? This isn't a just last year set of problems.... -
[closed]Looking at this years schedule with optimism...
McD replied to McD's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
And herein lies the problem that we've had forever. Lack of depth at positions where we were good or solid. The dropoff has been too difficult to overcome. I feel this year will be different, but I'd rather not have to rely on any backups. -
We all have high hopes and optimism for this years squad, however I've stayed pretty tempered in recent years due to the fact we had no depth. I feel that we've finally turned the corner with talent and depth, and it will be fun to see how this team gels. The first half of the schedule looks challenging, and I can see the Bills going 3-5 or 4-4 to start, but I really like the second half of the schedule where I can see the Bills going 7-1 while winning out the final 7 games. Taking a realistic look at the games below I've added my results of how I feel the Bills will do... 09/09 @ New York Jets ? 09/16 Kansas City Chiefs W 09/23 @ Cleveland Browns W 09/30 New England Patriots ? 10/7 @ San Francisco L 10/14 @ Arizona Cardinals ? 10/21 Tennessee Titans W 11/04 @ Houston Texans L 11/11 @ New England Patriots L 11/15 Miami Dolphins W 11/25 @ Indianapolis Colts W 12/02 Jacksonville Jaguars W 12/09 St. Louis Rams W 12/16 Seattle Seahawks (Tor) W 12/23 @ Miami Dolphins W 12/30 New York Jets W I have question marks near games that I feel will have a 50/50 shot at, and since I feel the team will still be gelling, I won't give them the benefit of the doubt in those. 3 wins and 2 losses with 3 games unsure... regardless if they go 3-5 or 4-4 in those games to start it's the second half where they can make some real noise. They need to stay patient throughout the first half and realize that winning the games they should in the first half (potentially stealing another 1 or 2) will leave them in good position to finish the season 10-6 or 11-5. I'm still pretty tempered, BUT this is as good as I've felt about this team in a decade. I'd like to hear some thoughts on this. McD

Bills' 10 best quarterbacks vs. Miami's 10 best
McD replied to tomdayfan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The fins had some good talent surrounding Marino, the issue they had was that they asked Danny Boy to throw all the damned time instead of managing a balanced attack. Kelly called his own plays and if he wanted to be an egomaniac (which he was to a large extent), he could have passed, and passed and passed some more, but Kelly was a better overall QB than Marino. Dan played in sunny Miami, while Jimbo played in the swirling Rich Stadium... Kelly also lost 2 years in the USFL where he DESTROYED the league! "In two seasons in Houston, running coach Mouse Davis' run-and-shoot offense, he threw for 9,842 yards and 83 touchdowns, completing 63% with an average of 8.53 yards per attempt with 45 interceptions. He was the USFL MVP in 1984, when he set a league record with 5,219 yards passing and 44 TD passes. Kelly's USFL records eclipsed those of fellow league quarterbacks Doug Williams and Steve Young"... Marino was probably a better "pure" passer, but Kelly was a better overall QB. -
I like what Nix has done so far. He's built a team with depth, but we still need to see if Fitz is the QB to take us where we need to be. Anyone trying to dismiss Polian's work because he had Kelly here and was able to draft Collins (who did well early) and Manning is a fool. So you're saying Polian was lucky or smart? He could have drafted Ryan Leaf over Manning, but he chose wisely. He built the Bills into an AFC powerhouse, the expansion Panthers into the NFC Championship game within 2 years, and the Colts have won a Super Bowl and have been to the playoffs 10 of his 14 years... does anyone really want to dismiss that? Seriously? I pray that the moves that Nix has made will pan out, and I'm happy with the way he's rebuilt the team, but it's only speculative on how it plays out on the field. Let Buddy have his day, he's earned it, but I loved Polian as our GM and hated to see him gone.

Born In Buffalo (Riverside & Black Rock neighborhoods), joined the AF in '88 and I'm still Active Duty. I'm currently stationed just outside of St Louis at Scott AFB, IL. I've been able to watch Bills games from all over the world... Texas, West Germany, North Dakota, South Carolina, North Carolina, Turkey, South Korea, Germany (again, but now united), Iraq, Alaska, Qatar, Missouri, Illinois, Afghanistan. It's been quite the ride....

Eric f&@ing Flowers!?!?!?

I wouldn't upset with any of those picks. As for Spiller, yes he has proven himself "good", but I'm waiting for exceptional!

I hope Anderson can give us some extra inside info on Tommy Boy and the way they run the O. He should have had lots of reps against him.
-
Ralph feels he's coming down the home stretch and really wants a shot at something great before he crosses the finish line.

EASY.... that's his number from last year with the Pats, they had to put something in there. I know anyone can edit Wiki, but it does look good as is
