  1. He'd be a great pickup!
  2. Is this quote from Damien Woody an indication that we'll draft another CB early? "The Jets have been masters of the “overload blitz,” in which they send more rushers on one edge of the offensive line than can be blocked. While New York has ranked among the top 10 in sacks only once in the past four years, it has excelled at creating pressure and forcing the quarterback to unload quickly for measly gains underneath the coverage. “If you want to know the key to that defense, it’s the secondary,” Woody said. “If those guys can cover, it allows Mike Pettine to draw those exotic blitzes. That’s one thing you really haven’t seen from Buffalo. It hasn’t been an exotic-type blitz team. That’s what you’re going to see out of Buffalo, but you need guys who can cover.” http://www.buffalonews.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20130110/SPORTS/130119968/two-bills-drive
  3. I really like the Pettine selection as DC for a few reasons and I've heard a lot of positives about the hire, but I tried to find some truth to the talks about it being more Rex's D than Pettine's. I came across an article in the NY Daily News that stated the following: "Pettine and Ryan have been a successful team for years, finishing first, third, fifth and eighth in total defense in the past four years. Pettine became the primary play-caller through the years". http://www.nydailynews.com/sports/football/jets/ex-jet-pettine-hired-bills-d-coordinator-article-1.1236288 What concerns me is that their D got worse as Pettine's authority/play-calling became more prevalent. I know a case can be made that Revis went down early this past year and that some of their players are past their prime, but is this a true indication of Pettine rather than the bluster we've heard to date about how stout "his" D was in NY?
  4. Chan was also hired because there really wasn't anyone else worthy or available to hire. Of course we got the good spin on things on that hire. Now, is this much different? I dunno, but at least this time we had interest from viable coaches and we CHOSE who we wanted vice settling for scraps. We'll see....
  5. He looked like poop.
  6. Good for Oregon that Chip's going to stay, but damn Mat do you need to bag on other places, lol. Chip didn't stay because of this song, the man got PAID somehow by the Nike crew...
  7. Interesting analysis on Nassib. Take a look at what Marrone thinks about him. http://www.cbssports.com/nfl/draft/players/1630528/ryan-nassib
  8. Ok... I'm intrigued...
  9. I'm sure all cities can "party it up and have fun" when winning. Buffalo just does it better. Is there something really that hard to understand here? I've been to 50% of the stadiums in the league, but only a handful come close to what Buffalo offers and I don't think any come close to matching that after 13 years of "much less than adequate" football. Really, not many cities live and die with their team as does Buffalo. Saying that, it IS a great place when you're winning and can be brutal when your not. These fans live and breathe the game wherein other cites its just another form of entertainment... that's really the point I'm trying to make.
  10. How old are you? I assume you don't know what it's like around that town when the Bills win...? When the Bills were perennial AFC powerhouses, Buffalo was a great place to be a fan, a player, a coach, etc. The networks did shows from here showcasing Buffalo, the city, etc. Even the cold ****ty weather was viewed as an amazing thing that opposing teams hated.. the shittier the weather, the crazier "Rich Stadium" was. Hell I was shirtless in January a few times myself watching playoff games...! "Based off of what"? Are you kidding me???
  11. Not that I believe that this rumor is true in any way, BUT... I think we can ALL agree that when Buffalo is winning/contending, there might not be a better football job/atmosphere in the entire league. He may need to take a few lumps, but the upside to coaching here is tremendous...!
  12. Sounds like the title to a book huh...maybe a "Horror" novel...? There's not much more to say on this, other than the Bills Front Office still thinks that throwing money at a problem will make things better... (all the money at Fitz, Mario, Stevie...) The realization is that a "new" (COMPETENT) GM comes in with a GOOD HC and they can both bring in competent Asst Coaches as well. Then maybe those pricey players can learn and benefit from a REAL coaching staff that has a clue about instructing, game planning, in-game adjustments, MOTIVATING and no nonsense leadership... This team is a damned DISASTER right now.... NOBODY is accountable and THAT is a problem!
  13. Ben, Sounds like you had a great time! I hear you on the attendance, but I think there's a lot to be said for the close to 60K Bills faithful that did show when: - At 4-7, the Bills were all but mathematically eliminated... - Were playing a 2 win team with ZERO star power... - It was a rain soaked day... - It was last Millennium when the Bills last made the playoffs...! Now saying all that, there's not another single fan base in the NFL that could withstand that and still have that many seats filled. No excuse for those that were there and left at halftime though... If you loved what you saw on Sunday, you absolutely need to make a trek here for an Opening Day game... COMPLETE and UTTER MADNESS! Lol, you'll be in for an amazingly good time! McD
  14. After watching that debacle, I'm guessing no kinks were worked out. QB play was worse than anticipated, WR's did nothing, LB's... eh. What's worse is Freddie going down and the D-Line doing NOTHING to pressure Sanchez (short drop/quick release or not). Now we have the Chiefs who will remember the whoopin' we put on them last year... can we make the necessary adjustments?
  15. I'm not "down" on the team... I feel we're better than last years team, but saying that I still feel that we're not as far along as I first surmised we might be. I'm adjusting my expectations, but my hope for a good/improved season will still be there.
  16. Really?
  17. I'm not really that worried about the play calling and/or the run game. But the run game will rely on Fitz's ability to throw as well. The LB play is my other major concern.
  18. Weird... I think that thing keeps changing...
  19. Actually its 38.5% isn't it?
  20. Lol, I don't put any stock into wins and losses in the preseason. I want effectiveness and consistency. Although the O did "well" in the 1st qtr of the Pitt game, that's been about it. You mention the O being vanilla... well of course they are, but then again opposing defenses have been vanilla as well tit for tat there. Don't get me wrong, I'm not "worried", as I still don't think this team is where it needs to be to make the playoffs. You mention Stevie... well great, but who steps up for him if he goes down? I'm not sure if we have that depth yet. The LB corps is suspect, but I do hope they've been limited in their roles/packages this preseason and the 'Stache adds a new dimension. Key to me... Fitz playing sound, running game excels, no turnovers on O, D-Line in the face of the QB AND playing stout against the run (draws or screens could be an issue), DB depth (limited injuries), and I feel most importantly, the LB's improving each week. They need to be able to run with TE's/RB's and slot WR's all while effectively helping the run D. Again... we'll see...
  21. Until we make the playoffs. My assessment is sound, what have they shown you this preseason? Homer it up all you want, but I expect more from this team. Until they play/win consistently, why shouldn't we look for areas of improvement? Fair enough? Yes, you misunderstand. Nowhere did I ever say it was "superior" to anyone. Holy Bucky Gleason Batman...!
