  1. The thing is that i don't really see how Holcumb is the ideal back up. Yes Holcumb can come in if needed and win a game that the Bills are already winning, or maybe come in for a full week while a quarterback is injured. Holcumb can do that, but you want a back up that knows his role and the team knows his roll as well. I'm not sure if Holcumb knows his role. Let's not forget, so far every where he has gone besides Indianapolis, there has been a quarterback controversey. Now qb controversey's can just occur over night as we all know with Johnson/Flutie a prime example. But two in one guys carreer? That is fishy. There is no way to confirm it, but i think that Holcumb does lobby for himself in the locker room and to other players and that is something that you cannot have in a backup. What else would be the explanation for two qb controversies in ones carreer? I've stated it before, Holcumb does not have the arm strength to carry this team anywhere, and never is this more evident than in person. On the August 8th night practices, it was almost shocking how soft and weak Holcumb's passes were. Many fell at the feet of receivers who were only 25 yeards out. My god, i think my g@y cousin could throw farther than that and probably with a little more touch than that as well. The appalling and discimforting thing about those play's imparticular was that each throw was followed almost immediately like a grunt of struggle. This year we find out if Losman is the guy we try to to rebuild with. If not, next year we get someone else in the draft possibly. I don't think we want to rebuild with a Holcumb that has aged one more year. So what would be the reasoning for keeping him around?
  2. Inexpierience is one thing to argue if the veteran is going to bring leadership to the table. It is rather hard for the veteran to bring leadership when at that particular point in the season he would be the enemy and the cause for the mutiny.
  3. People like this continuously show how little they actually know about football and/or the people on their team. Someone (TBone), obviously has no idea of Levy's thoughts on how to build a team. As he states in his book, the most important thing to do is build up the defense first. Establishing ourselves on the defensive side of the ball is Marv's goal this season. That's it period. He is not trying to make a playoff run this year. Marv will try to make his run next year by piecing the offensive line and the whole offense together next year. The reason i say this is becuase if Marv was so dead set on making it back to the playoffs this season, then why no big acquisitions in the offseason? Because he is not making his move this season. Next year we have all of that open cap room to sign any free agent we damn well please. Including offensive linemen. At that point we can pursue offensive talent which is the easiest squad to assembe once you have the players. After that, our special teams will still be in tact, our defense will be on the rise or back to top form, and then our offense will finally start putting points on the board. So yes, put down the Madden controls, and read and take notes on this post. Because TBone my friend, this is how the Bills are going to return to the playoffs. Not with stupid and un-thoughtout moves, but with patience and efficency. Goodnight Ladies and Gents, I love you all.
  4. Its never time for bed until you start personally insulting someone's mother or making comments about intercourse with their wife. You my friend, did neither.
  5. First off, Holcumb's arm is not going to show until the dust has settled from the other nights game. Second off one of the secondary goals of this thread was to piss him off enough to come on and hear what he has to say about my thoughts.
  6. I know what you meant, it was sarcasm my man, sarcasm.
  7. Returning kicks?
  8. Its a thought that i have been debating with since i attended night practice on August 8th. It is quite valuable in this league to have a sufficient back up quarterback as we all know from the Bledsoe/Brady fiasco. But is Holcumb the kind of back up that we want on the team this year. Bottom line is that you want a back-up who can comprehend your offense and run it if necessary. This is usually thought to be for a game or two at the most. If your team loses its qb for the whole season they are likely not going to make the playoffs. There have been a few cases but likely not. The Bills may want to think about eliminating the possibility of a mutiny on the team that would ultimatly kill the teams season, and ultimately ruin Losman's confidence. His arm is not strong enough to lead a team in my opinion and with this it is almost impossible to stretch the field or diversify your offense in anyway. Thus offensive production will go down and players like Willis will cease to produce and many will lose their jobs. Just want to know what you think.
  9. He probably won't put up Moulds numbers ever, but he is a valuable commodity on this Bills team; and here is why... His special teams play is phenominal and he has a chance at being the special teams captain this year. His only real competition is Brian Moorman which means the deck is stacked against him, but he is a very capable player on special teams. When height on this Bills team is at a premium, Aiken could come in very handy in the red zone this year. In recent years he hasn't received much playing time, A: Because we have had Moulds and other receivers, and B: Because last year we weren't doing much red zoning at all. I look for Aiken to have an increased role with the offense this year and may be one of our leaders in points.
  10. Seriously, thanks. And no this is not a lame attempt to get my number of replies up quicker.
  11. Thanks a lot. Now i have something to try for the next few months.
  12. The remake that i truly enjoyed was Lynard Skynard's "Simple Man" performed by Shinedown.
  13. How do you change what it says under your avatar?
  14. I'm not willing to concede to the idea of Losman being a bust either, it is just that the stats say that if Rivers succeeds, the deck is stacked against him.
  15. If Rivers succeeds in the NFL than personally i believe it means Losman is going to be -based on statistics - a bust. When was the last time that all of the quarterbacks chosen in the first round of a given year succeeded in the NFL and at one point were all considered the best in the league. There have been close calls but every year there is one player that does not succeed. Of that year, the first round qb's were: Eli Manning Philip Rivers Ben Roethlisberger JP Losman Manning is certainly coming along, no one is in a position to call Ben a bust, although he is just on a team with a great supporting cast and i feel as though he is a little over rated, and Rivers is coming into his own. Where does that leave Losman?
  16. I think Philly saw the act he was pulling and quickly turned their heads the other way because of T.O.
  17. Well put my fellow coleague. Well put.
  18. Roger that. I can agree with that as well.
  19. Andre Davis was brought in for more than just Kelly Holcumb. He is also a STer, as well as a deep threat. I'm sure they didn't want to waste time in having Holcumb throw down field just to see more interceptions. They actually wanted to see what Holcumb was capable of, not his falacies.
  20. I agree with your Losman statements. Read any of my previous posts and you will see that i have always been behind Losman through this whole thing. But the thing with being pessimistic, i have been optimistic for the past few seasons and preseasons, and it hasn't gotten us into the playoffs. So this year i am trying a reverse role of thinking by being pessimistic. That way if we make the playoffs, great, hopefully everyone else says "i told ya so", but i am also not going to be put into a position like last year, where they crush your hopes right on the television and in your own house.
  21. I'll accept. But the problem is that we are putting too much emphasis on Losman once again. Place some responsability on the other positions and other squads besides Losman and the offense. What does everyone agree was the problem from last year in terms of Losman: "We put too much pressure on the kid going into the season". That is the whole reason for this open QB competition at camp, is it not?
  22. You are dreaming if you think this team is going anywhere this year. It's good to be optimistic, but lets face it, against the Panthers Offense, our defense was ehh. I don't think we should get too ahead of ourselves. Now as you all know I am a very avid Losman advicate. Losman had a good solid showing this time, but this is exactly the type of thing that got him into trouble last year. We wrote him off as a solid starter before the season, and against the Texans, who at the time were believed to be a playoff caliber team, he had a pretty damn good showing. It is that type of "run with the last performance" attitude that got him benched last year, and pretty much everyone in Bills Nation disappointed and thinking he was surely a bust (And i don't mean Canton bust). Just relax, he's not going to be a HOFer over night. It's going to take time, and it is exactly posts like this that will run Losman out of Buffalo, and still keep us searching for the real problem for years. Buffalo's record this year: 5-11
  23. Only one? That must be quite the site. How did you obtain this information.
