Okay, I can't keep it in anymore!
BoondckCL replied to BoondckCL's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Dude, simply put, I am not going to sleep with my step mother. -
I take the blame for Sunday's loss to the Pats. Story starts like this... I head up to my father's house to watch the Bills game. Things are going well for the first bit of the game. Besides the broken long snap to Losman and the collision between Losman and McGahee, the team looks primed for a win. My step mother believes that because i am finally at the house for the weekend, she should take this ooportunity to clean the basement and find out what i want to keep. After half time, she begins walking in front of the television, displaying things that i need to decide to keep or throw away. Completely broken with focus of the game, the Bills begin to crumble and my step mother continues the sharade. Upon noticing that no one is paying attention, trying to maintain connection with the team, she lays a life size Bruce Smith poster on the ground and steps on it. Sacreligous or what? But i have come to terms with it, and i take full responsibility for the second half of play. I just hope it doesn't keep us out of the playoffs.

Probably would have said that everyone but him picked te patriots to flop. Then he would brag about how he is master of all things, and then go back to flirting with Tom Brady via Tivo, so that when Brady would get home and watch the game, he would hear how much of a man crush Sims has on him.

I think that this reply, could be one of two things. It is either a compliment to Simpon's speed and play making ability, or it is a good interpretation of how our defensive line and linebackers played.

Still dont understand the Royal Block

You'll agree with the rule if the Bills have it work out in their favor this year. If we ever get a ref that likes the Bills and hasn't been blown by the opposing qb the night before. -
Are you aying that Vincent doesn't catch heat on this board?
-
Did i say that they looked bad. If you read again i say that it is simply too early to have them in there at the same time because of their leadership abilities. You need to have one take on the roll of leader before you take out Vincent and slam a rookie in there. I said nothing about them playing poorly, i pointed out where they made rookie mistakes. Don't take my words out of context.

I noticed that on a couple of plays, but i still think a lot of blame falls on the linebacker's not filling the gaps. D linemen are very seldom expected to make the plays against the run, and teams instead expect to have linebacker's make plays. That was not happening today.
-
The play call was a little weak and predictable as the result showed. I would have brought in A Train and Willis for that play and would have run one of them up the middle or on a counter of some sort. But with the building pressure in the box, would you have been able to get off a counter? Probably not?

I agree as well. Whitner is a rather small safety and does look like a rookie. He has to learn the techniques needed to ignore his small size and still make plays. Teams are going to try to isolate him one on one with tight ends for the rest of the season and he has to learn how to use his quickness and speed as a way of beating them. Ko Simpson on the other hand was great at stopping ball carriers after they made the catch or they were already down field. I have no doubt in Simpson's ability as a player, but the pass to Rache Caldwell was clearly his fault. He was supposed to have inside support on that play after the corner was beat and he was late on the coverage. Ultimately made the stop, but late on the coverage. I hope that these two get starts down the road, but this team is not ready for four defensive starters this early in the season. I could see starting Whitner because Coy just sucks, but you have to keep the experience of Troy Vincent in there for a few more weeks until someone else (Whitner) learns how to be the leader in the secondary.

I agree with the fourth down decision. Had Jauron had a crystal ball and seen that if the game turned out this way, things might have been different, or would they be different? If the Bills convert that fourth and short and score the touchdown, or if we kicked the field goa for three, do you really think that Belichek would have had the same stradegy for winning the game? The answer is hell no. At that particular time that would have put the Bills up by even more and they would have viscously attacked our secondary. The score of the game would not have been 20-19 in favor of the Bills, instead that score would have proably gone up for both teams resulting in a win for the Patriots, more than likely. Although i see that the field goal would have won us the game by the way it eventually played out, the game would not have been played out the way it had, had we kicked the field goal and got the three points. I understand that when on the road you take the points when you are in the red zone, but i think this team is looking for inspiration, and what better way than for Dick Jauron to throw it on the line in an attempt to put the game away.

With this game in New England there were a couple of things that impressed me on defense. For example, Donte Whitner's interception, that despite the bad call turned the momentum in Buffalo's favor, if even for a little while (1 drive that we got screwed on). The first play of the season from scrimmage. A great play by Takeo to gain the upper hand in the first half. But the main problem is the RUN DEFENSE. Yes we have the speed on defense, but it doesn't make sense to have the speed on the d-line when all they are using that speed for is chasing down the runningbacks after they blow past them. We were prettu much dominated in the trecnches today when it came to the running game, and i am growing increasingly concerned with our defensive line and hoping that we do not have Jeff Wright's. I think what contributed to the problem in the running game was the fact that linebacker's were not stepping up to fill the holes and slam Maroney for only short gains. Instead we had the linebacker's dipping back into zone coverage so that we could ensure that we took Brady out of the game, and forced them to beat us on the ground. My did they do it. If you are going to have your linebacker's in zone coverage the majority of the game, than you have to be certain that your defensive linemen can handle the rushing surge from the opposing offense and still make plays. If not, you are going to see a lot of what happened today throughout the season. It boils down to the coaching staff being a little bit too over confident with their defensive line, and under estimating the Patriots offensive line. Jauron probably should have made adjustments at half time so that you had Angelo Crowell or London Fletcher staying in to stop the run, and having the other's cover tight ends. But if they were confident enough in Whitner's abilities, they would have had him covering the tight ends, and his lack of size does not help him in this field. The loss of Takeo hit us hard today in the passing and rushing game. With Takeo's loss to injury, we were forced to have Angelo Crowell covering tight ends in pass coverage. That is not his particular field of expertise. Good game in all, Defense kept us in the game with turnovers and the offense did what they could to keep us in the game. In the end, a couple of faulty calls by the refs came back to bite us in the ass. I have no doubt that this team will blossum throughout the season, and by next year will be in a position to make a legitamate playoff run from the first game of the season.

Did everyone watch the same game?
BoondckCL replied to Blue Chipper's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Looked to me like he was going backwards for the majority of the second half. He went back so many times, that based on his production in the first half, i got confused on which way the Bills were going. -
Agree compeletely. Everybody who has a poor game and sucks blame the officciationg but the way we were dominating in the first half leads you to believe that something was up. Yes, the loss of Spikes hurt us, but i don't think enough to the point where we lose the game. Patriots got away with murder on Moorman, two times. The block in the back by Royal was garbage because Vrabel was lunging for the tackle. And on Corey Dillon's first down run on fourth down, there was a block in the back but miraculously that was missed. Great game Buffalo. I just hope these officials don't follow us to Miami.
-
Where is te roughing the punter? Moorman was mugged on that play. That should be a first down for buffalo.
-
Yeah, we don't have ANY top 100 players on this team.
-
This team and all of the units on the team look as though they are gelling as one. I do have to admit, i was a little worried based on that first snap by Fowler that bonced on the ground and then the fumble by Losman on the handoff that made us look like the little giants. Just some hicupps i guess.
-
Well if there are numbers like that, that's like when Ricky ran for 214 against us in the snow bowl but they only had 14 yards passing. I'll take it. Thanks CTM, good observation.
-
Well yeah, i would say so. With pressure coming from the down four, that means that you aren't relying heavily on the blitz, which means less opportunities for Jesus and company down field. Mauroney is lighting us up though.
-
Schobel is looking for scaks and i don't see much help in run support.
-
Did anyone else notice the slaps at the old coaching staff throughout the first half. Saying that it is all coaching differences and that is why the bills are doing well. Losman looks better because Fairchild slowed the game down and was giving Losman more options. etc.

Patriot fans are douches. Enough said. Booing their dynasty.

Probably going to end up drinking Irish Car Bombs with my buddy at his house along with some Miller High Life. Nothing like some alcohol to get you ready for work at 6:00 p.m. as well.

Personally, i don't think anybody is denying that. The guy has been in and out of jail multiple times in his life, was addicted to heroin, shot 9 times, and ratted out multiple drug dealers in New York. But some how he is still a millionaire. God works in f'd up ways right?
