  1. If he was his English tutor, he did a good job!
  2. For some reason this comment really got me: It feels good to see the Bills get the final points of the first half, not the Patriots. It feels good to see the Bills score a touchdown on the opening possession of the third quarter, not the Patriots. Yes.
  3. Anyone notice that by halftime 10 different Bills had caught a pass?
  4. I imagine last summer when the MNF folks were scheduling this game someone in the room asked, "Are we sure we want this on Monday night? It could be a team that's already clinched the division playing someone who's been eliminated, with the potential for being a rout." Little did they know...
  5. New England has won 6 Super Bowls. Each year a team has a 1/32 chance of winning the Super Bowl. If life were fair they wouldn't win another until at least 2126. (This may be off by a few years since the NFL has not always had 32 teams since 1966, but you get the point.)
  6. https://www.buffalorising.com/2020/12/josh-allen-prayer-candles-timeless-babez-pop-up-shop/ Something about a Josh Allen prayer candle goes too far even for me.
  7. When they were scheduling the Monday Night games last summer, they were probably worried: "Do we really want to take a chance on a game where a team that's out of the playoffs will be playing one who's already clinched the division?"
  8. Enjoy this, from Eddie Gomez.
  9. I saw Pele in Rochester, too. Probably the same game.
  10. This is a great story about his cleats, and a special young man from Rochester. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CpdQJV_YBDI&feature=emb_logo As I was watching it, someone must have started cutting onions in the next room.
  11. If I take exception to that as an old person, shouldn't you apologize to me?
  12. https://www.radio.com/wgr550/sports/nfl/cris-collinsworth-apologizes-for-comment-on-female-nfl-fans I understand why he probably had to apologize if we wanted to keep his job. That's the society we live in today. But (you probably knew there'd be a "but") I don't see from a logical perspective why he had to apologize. While in general most casual fans--men and women--don't have a great in-depth knowledge of football, in my personal experience I have found very few female fans who know as much as the more knowledgeable male fans. So if you come across knowledgeable women fans, why not compliment them? Quote Edit
  13. Wait, that's my nickname you're insulting!
  14. Gianelli was just a nickname given to me in college for my ability on the basketball court! Gianelli was just a nickname given to me by friends in college, for my (lack of) ability on the basketball court!
  15. Seemed like we faced a lot of 2nd and longs yesterday, so I took this from the ESPN play-by-play of yesterday's game. Here's what the Bills gained (or lost) on 1st down: 5, 3, -3, 0, 2, 2, 3, 0, 0, 11, 0, -1, 8, 4, 6, -1, 0, 11, 1, 11, fumble, 44, fumble, 2, -2, 24, -4.
  16. Did the commentator just say something about the Sabres' Rene Robert pronounced as in English, not French?
  17. Don't know if I've ever seen stat lines so equal. NE Buffalo Total Plays 61 57 Total Yards 349 339 Penalties 5-35 5-30 Turnovers 1 1 3rd Down Eff. 5-10 5-11 4th Down Eff. 0-0 0-0 Passing 161 149 Rushing 34-188 38-190 TOP 30:46 29:14
  18. This thread is meant for boomers, and older Generation Xers. Would you agree that over time, the offensive line has become less and less predictable/stable in terms of personnel, more so than any other area? Going back to our AFL days, and certainly during the Electric Company era, you knew who were your starters, and you stayed with them. Stew Barber, Billy Shaw, Al Bemiller, Joe O'Donnell, Dick Hudson. Anyone else was definitely a backup. Same with the Electric Company. Joe D, Reggie, Mike Montler, Dave Foley, Donnie Green, though Bruce Jarvis started some games in place of Montler. For the past many years, there seems to be no consistency in the line. For instance, is Cody Ford a tackle or a guard? Is Quinton Spain a quality starter whom you give a new contract to, or a has-been whom you cut before the season's half over? I attribute it to a combination of not having the same level of talent, a change in offensive line philosophy, and the reality of free agency. Is there a current Bills offensive lineman who has played the same position for us for more than three years? Or even been on the team for more than three years? I couldn't have imagined moving Donnie Green to left guard to see how he worked out there for a game or two. If moves like that ever happened, I don't remember them. I can't even tell you what our starting offensive line was for the Chiefs game, much less at the beginning of the season. Is Boettger still on the team? If so, is he a tackle, a guard, or a center, or all three? It wasn't like that in the old days, was it boys?
  19. My favorite Gannon story involves his aunt. Back about 20 years ago I was on a retreat in New Hampshire. There were two nuns on the retreat team. They told the story of how when they met each other, they asked each other about their families. One of them said, "I have a nephew who plays in the NFL." The other said, "So do I! What team?" The first nun said "He plays for Raiders." The other nun said, "So does my nephew! What position does he play?" "Quarterback." "So does mine!" The two sisters were Sister Gannon and Sister Hoying, Rich Gannon's and Bobby Hoying's aunts. Coincidences don't get much better than that.
  20. Old guy here. But it seems like in the past (championship years, Electric Company, Super Bowl years) offensive lines were much more stable. You knew who the starters were, and they were considerably better than the backups. For the past several years, I haven't been able to tell who's who, much less who's good. Spain is good. No, he's not. Groy is good. No, he's not. Long is good. No, he's not.
  21. How long since the offense was on the field? More than an hour, I think.
