Anyone old enough to remember the comeback on 1/3/93, do you have any comparisons in terms of your perception of the team or the magnitude of the win?
Seems to me that on 1/3/93 by halftime the whole stadium was resigned to the fact that an era could be ending, and it was like an injection of life hoping we could finally get it right in the Super Bowl.
The past two weeks feel like the start of a new era.
It's hard to say which experience was more pleasurable. Even though 1/3/93 was a playoff game, I can't say that it was any more satisfying than yesterday.
I asked someone who should be able to find out, but has a quarterback ever thrown four INTs in a game and not been sacked? Seems to me that interceptions are usually the result of pressure on the QB, so for Brady to throw four of them without getting sacked once seemed a bit unusual.
Lots of love for Buffalo. He said hearing Kyle Williams on the Rome show helped seal the deal for him coming to Buffalo. He's talking lots about the fans and how loyal they are. Stressing the team concept in the locker room. "There's no ego. Everybody just do your job." Stood up for Stevie Johnson. Said that when Berry went down, the KC defense started looking unorthodox.
This article quotes Doug Flutie and Jim Kelly on the grind of an 18-game season. (And remember, optimists, we could be talking about a 21-game season!)My link
Flutie says it would be "ridiculously difficult."
But Jimbo, you didn't really say "imagine how many fans would show up to a Week 19 mean-nothing game in January in wintry Buffalo," did you?
Notice the offensive and defensive linemen we picked in 1961, 62 and 63: Barber, Bemiller, Shaw, Sestak, Dunaway. Building the foundation for what happened in 1964 and 1965.
They don't include the Bills as one of Marlin Briscoe's teams. From Wikipedia, "He led Buffalo in touchdown catches in each of his three seasons there and in receptions twice. In 1970 he was in the top two in receptions and receiving yards and became an All-Pro."
There's some great footage at this link, and some very interesting words from Cookie. He had a cease and desist order to prevent the Bills, Broncos, the NFL, and the t.v. networks from using his image, citing intellectual property rights. link
As a displaced Buffalonian, looking for post-game info on the game, how refreshing to listen to WHAM from Rochester as opposed to Schopp and the Bulldog.
So, they're looking for a site for the Vikings-Giants game. How about the only NFL stadium in the State of New York, where they know how to handle 2 feet of snow!
The population has plummeted. But according to Forbes we're the 10th best place in the U.S. to raise a family. http://www.forbes.com/2010/06/04/best-plac...s_slide_11.html (Rochester and Syracuse are even higher.)
