  1. Saints and sinners. Go figure...
  2. Good prospect. But IMO, they'll most likely go UFA for RB2. They like having a mix of young and old in each position room and probably think Singletary can still learn a lot from a vet...
  3. That's enough for me in a heartbeat if if helps them snag Hooper. Come up with an additional $5 million some place else and we'd have one of the best TE rooms in the AFC. As this playoff season has shown, teams with mutiple good/great TE's are where its at now--Ravens, Titans, 49ers and Chiefs. The WR help can come in the draft. But fix the TE hole now and the Bills go into 2020 as a legit AFC contender, certainly in the division and even in the conference...
  4. I'd love to see the Bills draft this kid in the 4th round. He reminds me of the type of player the Pats used to pick that seemed sort of meh at first, but through smarts, technique and work ethic turned into an effective, 'Doh! Why didn't we draft him?" kind of player. His moves are so silky and refined for a college player (albeit, a 23-year old playing against 18, 19, 20 year olds should have an edge) . Now, with the top speed at the Senior Bowl, he looks even better. He'd have to play special teams at that draft slot, which I don't know if he can, but I want to follow this kid's career, wherever he lands...
  5. I endorse this part of your post...
  6. No need to worry. With the combine + three months until the draft, there will be a lot of risers, under the radar types and just plain oddball moves that could push Jefferson down 5 slots. If that's indeed the route McBeane want to go...
  7. Nope. They're completely different kinds of players. Cleveland's nowhere near the athlete DK is. Here's Metcalf's NFL.com profile: Overview Big, explosive talent with projectable upside to become a home-run threat as a WR1. Teams seek out pass-catchers with rare height, weight and speed dimensions and Metcalf has those for days. While he has the talent to become a full-field threat, Metcalf is still an unpolished gem who was the second-best receiver on his college team. Until his skill-set is more developed, he could begin his career as a hit-or-miss long-ball threat. However, once it clicks, defenses could struggle to find solutions for him. Strengths Uncommon, but highly coveted height, weight and speed traits Quick-twitch athlete with loose hips to carry him quickly in and out of his breaks Has blend of physical tools to work all three levels of the field Light feet to stutter and trigger an explosive release up the field Can wipe out coverage cushions with top-end speed that takes the top off Very risky to press without a back-end safety net Hauled in multiple one-handed circus catches in 2018 Consistently creates late-catch space with subtle hand usage Menacing separation potential once he learns to play to his speed Effective use of size to cinch-up and wall off defenders as perimeter blocker Should take big leap forward with expanded route tree and coaching to go with it Weaknesses Should rely on footwork and body positioning over arm-extension to clear the top of his route Rushes through pattern ingredients rather than developing their flavors as a route chef Gears it down a little when turning to locate the deep ball Fails to sell route fakes to manipulate his opponent Breaks and stems aren't as sharp as they could be Had separate season-ending injuries in 2016 (foot) and 2018 (neck) Suffered focus drops when working back to the ball Drop rate too high over last two seasons Needs better positioning of his big frame to block out defenders on comebacks
  8. How are there competitions for this kind of thing??...
  9. Well, since we have road games at SF, Arizona, Denver and Vegas, 4:00 pm would be a shoe in. Three of the home games (Rams, Chargers and Seahawks) might get flexed to 4:00, although the Pegula's--like Ralph--are pretty insistent on 1:00 kickoffs...
  10. That's a unique game. It wasn't due to the 'Boys being a top team. Just tradation. OTOH, I could see road games against San Fran or Tennesse...
  11. Nuts. Don't care for that based on our past performance in those games (which will likely be on the road)...
  12. That Mr. Creosote scene always makes my head explode. "monsieur, the check..."
  13. This 'homer' agrees: https://www.si.com/college/cal/news/pff-all-conference-weaver Good profile (doesn't seem like a fit in McD's scheme, however): https://thedraftnetwork.com/player/evan-weaver
  14. I voted yes. 1.) It's becoming the Hall of the Very Good, (2) he has two rings, (3) has a legacy name and (4) played in a high profile media market...
  15. That's two big strikes against Gase now. Tanny and Drake. Maybe the smelling salts are eating away at his brain. It looks like the Cards are going to keep Drake and let David Johnson go. Man, I loved Johnson a bunch a few years ago and it's amazing how fast he's gone from the penthouse to the outhouse. Johnson would be a great complement to Singletary, but his contact will likely make him unmoveable ($10.2 million in 2020! NFW)...
  16. Just say no to Bulaga. The guy can't stay healthy. OTOH, Peat or Glasgow seem like good OL pickups that would fit the Bills needs. Ngakoue, Hooper and Conklin are probably priced out of our range. Kenyan Drake would be ideal, but I doubt Beane wants to spend $6MM per at RB. Sure sounds like a 'process' guy though: "It's bigger than me," Drake said. "The game is not about any one individual player and whatever specific accolades he can accumulate. Not a lot of people get this opportunity." It is a big-picture view that not every player has. "I for sure had to learn it," Drake said. "Everyone has to grow up one day." https://www.azcardinals.com/news/kenyan-drake-wait-for-playing-time-paying-off-with-cardinals-free-agency He'd add a lot to the passing game: https://arizonasports.com/story/2231725/espn-seifert-case-kenyan-drake-nfl-free-agent-rb/
  17. https://thedraftnetwork.com/player/tyrie-cleveland/OrKcR3E0JJ (sounds like Foster--UDFA) Pros: True deep threat player. Cleveland is exclusively an outside guy who can really stretch the field vertically. He ran a reported sub-4.4 at The Opening as a high school recruit. At 6-foot-2, Cleveland has some long strides when running. He can really eat up cushion on players who are playing against him in off coverage, often getting "even" with them and asserting advantage when getting vertical. His route tree consists of mostly 9-route, skinny posts and bubble screens, but for what he does, he does it pretty well. Cleveland is also a pretty decent blocker for a speed player. He knows how to square defenders up and generally has good hand placement to not get ripped or fanned away immediates. Cons: Where Cleveland is fast, he is not necessarily quick. His long speed and top speed are much more impressive than his short area quickness, as well as his first step acceleration. This causes his route tree to be very limited, as he is just a vertical outside player. This also hinders his ability to consistently separate from coverage. If he's got you in a straight line, he can get by you, but without much threat of directional variation, it's easy to plan for. At this point, Cleveland projects to just a vertical depth player in the NFL, but there is upside.
  18. He's a teriffic route runner and has some great skills. But from what I read about him, he's not very physical and can get pushed around in press coverage. He's also over-age (will be 24 on opening day). Of course, the db has to be able to keep up with his moves to be able to win that way... https://thedraftnetwork.com/player/van-jefferson https://247sports.com/college/florida/Article/Van-Jefferson-NFL-Draft-Senior-Bowl-Florida-Gators-Orange-Bowl-Virginia-Cavaliers-Kyle-Trask-141184133/ Smooth as butter, though: This video guy is pretty good at breaking down Jefferson on a few plays vs. LSU:
  19. Good for him. Now he can finally sit down to pee...
  20. Kelly called his own plays so that was on him, not Marv. If Marv is to be faulted, it's for not taking the play calling away from Jim once it became obvious what Belichick was doing, and run Thurman more, which would have won the game. Oh, and making a few (actually, quite a few) more tackles by the defense would have helped a bit as well. BTW, back OT, I hope Shady gets to dress on Sunday. But I'm picking the 49ers, so it might not be a happy ride off into the sunset...
  21. Mark Rypien as well.... To soon?
  22. The players get them as part of the CBA--and resell them to ticket brokers for a bit of pocket change. When I went to SB 26, I bought Dolphin player tickets from a scalper... https://www.usatoday.com/story/sports/nfl/2018/02/03/players-coaches-resell-super-bowl-tickets-despite-ban/304325002/
  23. Amazingly good sound quality. Thanks...
