Huge Bills contingent at Clemson pro day
Lurker replied to BillsMafi$'s topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Many people point to how good he is at high pointing the ball. With a 31" vertical, that's going to be problematic at the next level, IMO. Just for chuckles, here are the vertical results for this year's CB class from the combine. Quite a few of the DB's he'll be going up against (certainly beyond just this list) have no problem out-leaping him. So even with his 6'4" height advantage, he'll be heavily contesting those jump balls at the next level. My biggest problem with Higgins is I don't think he's worthy of pick #22. Somewhere in the #35-40 range, fine. That's another matter... Nor do I hate him. I just don't want him at #22. Now if he falls into Round 2, I won't feel bad if Beane trades up to get him in the #35-40 range, where I feel his value is more appropriate. Just don't overdraft for need, which I trust this front office (if not TSW) to do... -

What about explosiveness and separation skills? If Higgins is one of those "build up, long strider" speed types (which is what I think he is) rather than athletic/twitchy, we're talking about a jump ball guy, not a #1 WR. We probably could get that skill set somewhere in rounds 2-3, IMO... -

Well, his vertical and long jump were pretty crappy, calling into question his explosiveness. Has there been any agility testing (3-cone, etc.) at his pro day? -

NBA suspends season due to coronavirus

https://www.statnews.com/2020/03/10/simple-math-alarming-answers-covid-19/ The U.S. has about 1 million hospital beds. At any given time, about 68% of them are occupied. That leaves about 300,000 beds available nationwide. The majority of people with Covid-19 can be managed at home. But among 44,000 cases in China, about 15% required hospitalization and 5% ended up in critical care. In Italy, the statistics so far are even more dismal: More than half of infected individuals require hospitalization and about 10% need treatment in the ICU. If only 10% of cases warrant hospitalization, and the spread of the virus continues at the current pace, all hospital beds in the U.S. will be filled by about May 10. And with many patients requiring weeks of care, turnover will slow to a crawl as beds fill with Covid-19 patients. -

Lions to let Graham Glasgow hit free agency
Lurker replied to jkx2's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Per Joe B at the Athletic: https://theathletic.com/1657224/2020/03/10/film-study-offensive-linemen-the-bills-should-consider-in-free-agency/ Strengths: When you read up on Graham Glasgow, you’ll see that he didn’t receive all snaps last year because the Detroit Lions wanted their backup guard to be warmed up and ready in the event of an injury. Though, after watching Glasgow on film, it’s hard to understand why they would ever take him off the field. His consistency from snap to snap is hard to come by in today’s NFL. He plays with power and strength that can hold up at the point of attack against impact defensive tackles, and as a run blocker, he looks to maul the player in front of him. On pulls, he gets out of his stance and looks for his target in a seek-and-destroy mission. He’s good on blitz pickup, reacts to stunts well and is always looking for work when he isn’t busy in pass protection. He also shows enough athleticism to get out in front of screens. Glasgow started at right guard almost exclusively in 2019, but also has plenty of experience at left guard and center throughout his career in Detroit. Weaknesses: Trying to find bad reps from Glasgow in 2019 proves to be a challenging exercise. When he does struggle, it’s usually because he’s going against defenders who move well from side-to-side. As a pass blocker, a stutter step to speed move got the better of him, but typically he recovered well enough to keep the defender out of the backfield. As a run blocker, if he whiffed on the first block, he lost his way in the second level on some reps. Most of this is nitpicking, however. How he would fit the Bills: If they wanted to continue to develop Ford at right tackle, Glasgow is everything the Bills could want at guard. He is tough and versatile, is capable of pulling on run plays and rarely misses snaps due to injury. If he plays at a similar level, he would step in and be one of the best offensive linemen on the roster. Turning 28 this summer, he likely has a few more prime seasons remaining. The way Detroit used Glasgow makes him a deceiving commodity on the market, but if he’s anything close to the level of player he showed, he should do quite well in free agency. That might put him out of the Bills’ price range. If not, the Bills should strongly consider signing Glasgow and walking away from Spencer Long’s contract to free up cap space. -
No guaranteed money (as supposedly said by Murph and Tasker on their show). Very easy to walk away from...

That's where I'm at as well. Once we learn how much the guaranteed money is, we'll have a better handle on which "fifty" seems more likely....

https://buffalonews.com/2020/03/09/bills-agree-to-one-year-contract-with-veteran-cornerback-josh-norman/ "I have no doubt that Levi can go out there and earn it again, but we're not into just giving out jobs,” Beane said at the NFL Scouting Combine last month. “He knows that. He had a little offseason procedure on his shoulder. He's got to overcome that as well. So we have to protect ourselves. There can always be setbacks.”

Yep. If this news is coming from the agent, the absence of any word on guarantees is very telling...

Curiously absent so far is any word on guaranteed money...
