  1. What's your size....
  2. The Great Recession has reduced U.S. household mobility. In WNY's case, that's a good thing since the grass is less green elsewhere (particularly in the southeast or west)... On the other hand, we've got the best commuting time performance of any medium to large U.S. city. Whoo Whooo!
  3. It's bad...(per the Census Bureau) ________Est. Erie County____Est.City of Buffalo___Rest of County 2009________909,247_________270,240___________639,007 2008________909,858_________271,220 2007________911,784_________272,492 2006________916,292_________274,740 2005________923,820_________277,998 2004________932,002_________281,757 2003________936,931_________284,612 2002________940,645_________287,139 2001________945,165_________289,657 2000________950,265_________292,648___________657,617 2000-09 ___-41,018________-22,408_________-18,610 ______________-4.3%___________-7.7%____________-2.8% The one thing we can hold out hope for is the 2010 census may show the 2003-09 loss estimates were too high. This happened with the 1990 and 2000 census results, which are more accurate than the intercensal estimates.
  4. 18 posts and we finally have an answer. This place is slipping...
  5. Uh...isn't the guy just gonna say..."what the hell is this thing?" and pull it out before it can do its Chinese finger trap thingy.
  6. Interesting point. Very typical of The Washington organization to follow a "Ready, Fire, Aim" approach and end up with little to show for it. I can see Nix being be savy enough to know that next year players X, Y and Z will also be available, as they are every year, so no reason to tie up the future just to make a marketing splash. Or that the longer the Gaither situation plays out, the more likely Newsome will be pragmatic and take what the market is offering.
  7. Humm...that wasn't the first adjective that came to mind for me.
  8. The offseason is too long...
  9. You do have access to the Snooze, which is what they're charging you money to paraphrase, however...
  10. I recommend looking into the economics of the newspaper/radio business. It will be quite enlightening...
  11. For the same reason a drug dealer would...
  12. "One of the main reasons capitalism has degenerated so much is that the corporations are now controlled by speculators shareholders without any long term vision or sense of social responsibility instead of by private individuals." So private individuals (in their guise as shareholders, either owning directly or via mutual funds, pension funds, 401(k)s, etc.) don't like capital gains and dividend income? I never knew that...
  13. I thought this was going to be a thread about TSW...
  14. I don't know how it'd work either. Maybe some ex-AIG guys are working with the counterparties...

  16. No different than the rest of the private sector, though. In fact, the movie biz is a lot more transparent than many industries. It's wasn't that hard to predict that the Love Guru was gonna be a killer at the box office, right?
  17. I'm glad you're not the GM...
  18. So, what time did Sal say George Seifert's plane is landing in BUF?
  19. Agreed. Its a hedging tool for entertainment sector institutional investors with positions in Disney, Fox, ect.
  20. RIP Jimmy (man, I feel old watching some of those YouTubes).... Not Jimmy-related, but his Muppets ties made me smile when I saw a few of the related videos: Wilson's Meats
  21. The trifecta was the Picnic Table couple from Batavia...
  22. Better than more Sid and Ovie overkill...
  23. They've essentially become on par with teen boys, you mean. Title IX at the boxoffice....
  24. But I suspect the percentage of adults (at least regular moviegoers) is dropping, so the teen's share of the boxoffice is increasing. Moviegoers 2010 (no demos, but interesting, nevertheless)
