  1. Agree totally. Opinions are easy to produce, since, like sphincters, everyone's got one. Building a 300-word column based on original research or insights from insiders who fans have little access to is difficult...but ultimately rewarding to the reader. Pretty easy to see what side of the professional ethic Jerry comes down on...
  2. Good response. Particularly the line about Sully's effort vs. the best TSW posters...
  3. Could someone please give me a refresher on how the ignore feature works on the new board?
  4. You always have to take a Sully column seriously when he gets the very first word wrong...
  5. I take his 'call out' to be a team-building ploy, rather than anti-fan. In the vein of a Parcells-like reverse psyche job. I suspect Gailey has very few cares about what fans think, but if he can rally the troups doing something like this (and using the in-house mouth piece to do it suggests as much), so be it...
  6. That applies to TSW as well...
  7. If all it took to be a successful playoff team was $10-$12 million in additional payroll, the Redskins would be the reigning SB champs every year...a concept that never seems to register with a disappointingly high proportion of this board's membership, or media members who know better--but expound on the point anyway in order to attract page clicks.
  8. I'll bite my tongue on which upgrades would be most desirable...
  9. Another green turtleneck added to the list...
  10. a clueless poster with too much time on his hands... Technique is the number one thing that separates NFL players from checkout clerks that can run, jump or catch as well as they can. Most small and mid-level college programs put little emphasis on these skills due to budget/coaching constraints, so players coming into the league have to be broken down and "rebuilt" like Marine grunts. It's particularly true of WRs and pass-oriented TEs who typically take two years to learn their craft.
  11. When did "drafting for need" work better than BPA....
  12. IMO, it only implies that he's rotating with the ones--just like the QBs...
  13. Agreed. There's enough tape of Trent's tendencies for this staff--a better offensive group than we've had in a while--to work on fixing that issue. If he keeps doing it in the exhibition games, I suspect he'll never overcome it...
  14. So does a suppository, but it doesn't mean I'd enjoy one...
  15. Chapter 3,478,920,411 in the "I wonder how we all survived our childhood" journal...
  16. No, he took great pleasure in telling the tale to his day time customers!
  17. He plays to the lowest common denominator, adds nothing of substance, and charges $2.00 for his "services." If I want half-baked analysis presented in a pejorative/unctuous manner, I'll come to TSW...for free.
  18. We'll also worry about the giant astroid hitting earth, the Mayan caledar going past 2012 and any other hypothetical futures when they become reality...
  19. "It's gotten to the point where they need to be in all of our decisions. They don't trust us to make good choices on our own." That's the crux of the story, and what's most discouraging. Not much chance of the pendulum turning, either. That said, it reminded me of a memory from my youth. A farmer in our area sold cider in glass jugs at his road side stand. In those "good old days," he would leave the bottles out at night and trust that they would be there in the morning. When they stated to "disappear" overninght, he came up with the plan of spiking the night time inventory with urine. The bottles kept disappearing, but at least he didn't feel as bad about it...
  20. Cool. I bet they have a great O-line.
  21. Good idea for TSW as well...
  22. Lori's absence is a significant loss for TSW....
  23. Better tell him to batten down the hatches...that's just in time for hurricane season.
  24. You have nothing but the little men talking inside your head to base that on...
  25. Like every other prima donna (Peters, et al)? Not his style, IMO. Schobel made it very clear this offseason in his choice of words and deeds that he didn't what to play his final year for yet another new coach/new system on a team that will be lucky to be 8-8. I'm not sure why today's announcement is any surprise at all.
