  1. Since the average NFL career is 3.3 years, the majority of the team will be ready to turn over by then. This isn't the '80s or early '90s where teams had the luxury of time to accumulate talent. Today, you've got quality starters for a single contract before FA and "greener grass" breaks up the band. If Buddy thinks it will take 3+ more years to be competitive, he's the wrong man for the job.
  2. Pedestrian
  3. Grosse Pointe Farms, MI...
  4. Since they can't all be on the field at once it is. Unless Chan goes to six WR sets, I suppose...
  5. That's safe? The combined NFL production for that group is 58 receptions for 705 yards and 4 TDs. That's a typical year for Evans and what got him run out of town, isn't it? Nelson looks to be a very good slot-type, "alternative-to-a-TE" guy, so no problem with him. But the flyer they're taking on Easley/Jones is amazing, given that they've only been running around in their underware to this point in the season...
  6. If that's their thinking, I want some of what they're smoking. A guy with one year (actually only half a year) of production at the mid-major college level and a couple of weeks of NFL traing camp strikes me as no option to replace Evans. It's going to get harder for Chan now that DC's have had a year to analyze tape. He's a good OC, but the element of surprise (especially with Fitz) is going to be reduced vs. last year. Our only hope. May work, may not. But that fourth round pick won't be too effective when it come to drawing up the game plan each week, I'm guessing...
  7. I stand by the captulation stance. Trading Evans based on his perceived fit in Gailey's system is a judgement call. Fine, no problem. That's Buddy's prerogative as GM. But getting nothing back that will help this year's team is a 'give up' move, unless the only goal for 2011 is to have a 16-week in-season training camp to get ready for 2012. I'm a big supporter of Nix, but this is a real head scratcher for me--especially since they may have gotten more in a few weeks (or even in-season) from some desperate team with a lot of injuries...
  8. Pretty accurate, though. Not getting a player back is a capitulation move for this year, IMO...
  9. The same place it alwasys does--bitching ana moaning on TSW and playing Madden in mom's basement.
  10. It must be something in the water. The Grate (not Great) and Powerful ESPN can't seem to update its site even though Tim Graham has been gone for a month now...
  11. Thank you Rupert Murdoch...how's that wiretap business working out?
  12. Seriously? Parish - slot receiver only, get's blown off his feet by a strong wind Jones - 18 career NFL receptions, 4.5 speed (pedestrian for an NFL WR) Roosevelt - "God didn't give him a lot of speed" - Chan Gailey (Aug 8, 2011)
  13. You mean they suck, but just less so than normal? When radio guys "demand" anything, you know they're getting desperate for listeners.
  14. All this "we're deep at WR" chatter mystifies me. The WR depth is all two's and three's and four's. There isn't a WR on the roster that can back off DBs like Evans. Does anyone think having SJ as the #1 wide-out will make DC's sweat much? He helps the run game just by being on the field. Take him out of the equation and watch the 8-man fronts every team would run against us. That said, if someone was crazy enough to offer a quality OT for him, I'd have to think about it...
  15. Yes, but more so for teams that have cap problems, unlike the Bills (as currently structured).
  16. Exactly. It was some kind of Jedi mind trick that his opponents never caught on to...
  17. Doug Whaley (who up to now, most TSW posters have thought highly of) is the guy to make that call. If he doesn't think any of these FAs are upgrades, does that make him yet another front office mediocrity??
  18. Case in point...
  19. Another one bites the dust... (openning this thread was the unlucky part)
  20. That yabo has a national gig, yet someone talented like Lori doesn't...what a joke.
  21. Hey, don't bring politics into this...
  22. Could be Paul Seymour 2.0 or Pauly Shore, Jr. Who knows. If it's the former, it would be a real bonus for the running game. The slot WR most likely will get most of the catches that typically go to the TE anyway.
  23. The 'manage ignored users' feature???
