  1. I'm coming around to Martin as the pick. Based on everthing we know about Buddy, this description sounds like his prototype first round pick (experience, character, smarts, immediate contributor): "Jonathan Martin is one of two tackle prospects in this year's class who could be called elite, and given the value of the position will be a likely first-round pick because of it. He embodied all that Stanford football was throughout his time there, as he is an aggressive, smart, technically sound prospect who will enter the league at a stage in his development where he should be able to contribute immediately." Not much differene between 10 and 15, IMO, if you get the guy you're sold on...
  2. Great. Watch the game the Bills need to make the playoffs be on Dec. 23rd...
  3. They make a good rotation pairing. Throwing waves of fresh DEs at teams is the way to go...
  4. Toche'... Player injuries open up all kinds of litigation possibilities...
  5. NEVER read the comments of any Internet article if you don't want to diminish your IQ or faith than humans are the highest rung on the evolutionary ladder...
  6. Or get your head out of the sand. He would certainly be picked up, most likely by the Pats...
  7. "The greatest trick the devil ever pulled was convincing the world he didn't exist."
  8. How about these comparisons: Player A Player B
  9. Heavily weighted by the TD/Levy era. That and $1.25 will buy you a cup of coffee today...
  10. Maybe he can throw the ball to himself...
  11. Signed through 2016: http://espn.go.com/nfl/story/_/id/6899442/buffalo-bills-kyle-williams-reach-agree-contract-extension
  12. Trying to emulate the Colts gameplan from last year, no doubt...
  13. Nice summary. Somewhere Dan Snyder is breathing a sigh of relief that he's no longer the flakiest owner in the NFL...
  14. Not sure Mike Sherman's the guy to give him that (Smith's no Brett Favre).
  15. Good OL depth is the key. Having backups that can capabably fill in without having to adjust the game plan when a starter goes down. The Bills need at least 2 more guys--that hopefully will come in this draft (regardless of round taken)--that can improve on the group we have now.
  16. What happened to fair and balanced? Are you unbalanced now?
  17. Mea culpa. I looked at the actual policy wording and you are right: "Public/Private Statements. Any public or private statement of interest, qualified or unqualified, in another club’s player to that player’s agent or representative, or to a member of the news media, is a violation of this Anti-Tampering Policy. (Example of a prohibited comment: “He’s an excellent player, and we’d very much like to have him if he were available, but another club holds his rights.”)" The only "out" might be if Houston gave Williams permission to reach out to other teams since they were not going to resign him. What a can of worms...
  18. No one is going to "call the cops" on Ralph for saying we'll talk to you after 4:00 pm. If that was the case, no player would ever sign in the first hours of free agency, of which there's been plenty of examples over the years.
  19. This year's success will hinge on how much quality depth the Bills can stockpile. You can bet at least 3-4 starters will go down at some point, as in any given year...
  20. To be tampering, "contact" would imply some form of contract negotiations. Contact, in the sense of the agent saying "be here at 4:00 pm," is something different.
  21. Disagree. The agent reached out to determine potential interest in meeting with his client. The Bills had no contact with Williams until the 4:00 pm deadline, when they picked him up in NC...
  22. Fingers crossed that one of those guys will be available. To me, the O-line's success last year was like the winter weather we had in Buffalo this year--nice, but hardly something we can count on occuring again soon. We need to beef up the starting group and have better backup depth for when the inevitable injury bug hits. Much more important than WRs, IMO...
  23. Here's the comment that caught my eye: "Buddy is a great talent guy. On top of it, he's a hard worker. He goes around to all these schools. He doesn't let somebody else tell him this guy is a first-round pick or a top-round pick unless he's seen him and talked to him. Buddy changed the whole thing around when he got there." I remember reading that Tom Donohoe never talked to/visited with Mike Williams prior to his selection. That seemed really odd when you think about making such a critical commitment to a player. The "someone else telling him a guy is a top-round pick" statement certainly resonates in that instance. Bottom line: It's good to have an old fashioned player personnel man in charge of the team again...
