  1. Interesting take on this year's WR class...
  2. The tallest midget in Lilliput was a pretty good basketball player as well. Hairston's a valuable member of the team. He exceeded expectations in 2011--but those expectations weren't that high based on his draft position and lack of OTAs. He's a nice swing guy with the potential to be a good RT, IMO. But if Nix really wants to "win now," he needs to ensure there's sufficient talent on the OL, especially given the potential for Wood to have a setback in his rehab. Considering 1-2 of the OL starters will probably miss some time in 2012 (it would be a rare event not to), I think adding a guy like Glenn, Reiff or even DeCastro would be the best option to keep the season from collapsing should the injury bug hit. I trust Chan to find a way to cover up a lack of WR talent--but I don't think he can do it at O-line with scheme and play calling alone...
  3. Fox News, MSNBC, etc.?
  4. Maybe he can ask Jeremy Shockey for a bridge loan...
  5. You don't sign the highest paid defensive player in history and trade out of the 10th pick for something next year. Buddy thinks they can win now...
  6. What this tells me is that people shouldn't get hung up on taking the "10th rated guy" (as if this was written on tablets brought down from Mount Sinai) at the 10th pick as, in actuality, the 7th through 20th rated guys are interchangable from a "value" perspective. The focus should be on who can play/contribute/fit the scheme most effectively, rather than maximizing "draft value," which is media-driven (ESPN/Kiper) concept....
  7. I agree. While Hairston didn't embarass himself at OLT, he's more suited to the right side and as a swing guy...
  8. Pro football is like nuclear warfare. There are no winners, only survivors. -- Frank Gifford
  9. Why not? $5 million is not that unusual any more and the Bills can dump him relatively easy next year if he flames out. More noodlings by nattering nabobs with a publishing deadline...
  10. Bump... "Take a quick look around the league — of the 32 players that would start at left tackle if the season started today, 75 percent (24 out of 32) of those players were drafted in the first (18) or second round (six). One is a third-rounder, two came out of the fourth round, one was picked in the fifth round and another in the seventh. Three were not drafted."
  11. I agree with you. Glenn's ability to play 3-4 spots on the OL is a big plus. His 50 starts against quality opponents is just the kind of resume Buddy looks for...
  12. I wish you on to the Ignore heap...
  13. I've had my eye on Kendricks, too. He'd be able to cover a lot of ground behind our big D-line. The downside is his height, but he's only a bit shorter than the guy he tries to pattern his game against...
  14. It seems to me that SDS should create a TSW Wonderlic test as a condition for posting rights so we could all rag on the bottom 20% of folks here... Come on, Scott, what do a say?
  15. Sometimes I think these talking heads just spew stuff out without doing much homework. Osweiler saw action in six games as a true freshman--and became the first true freshman to start a game at ASU since Jake Plummer in 1993. He played in six games as a sophmore with a start against Arizona in the season finale. As a full time starter in his junior year, he became the first Sun Devil to throw for 4,000 yards and set five records for attemps and completions. Is he raw? For sure. But he's got a lot of intangibles and world be an interesting pick in Round 4.
  16. Yeah, he seems to be working on that. Interesting that all 32 teams had representatives at his pro day...
  17. His arm looks plenty strong but his mechanics look funky. Sort of a three-quarter throwing motion (Kosar-ish) rather than a classic over-the-top. David Lee, come on down...
  18. He's a stalwart OG for the Brussel's Cows...
  19. How about This comparison: NFL’s All-Pro first teams from 2007-11: Tackles Jake Long (Round 1, No. 1); Joe Thomas (Round 1, No. 3 overall); Walter Jones (Round 1, No. 6); Jordan Gross (Round 1, No. 8); Ryan Clady (Round 1, No. 12); Michael Roos (Round 2, No. 41); Matt Light (Round 2, No. 48); Jason Peters (Undrafted) "There’s no secret here: If you want a reliable, sometimes dominant tackle, then it’s going to cost you a high draft pick. Jason Peters’ story stands as the exception to the rule, as he slipped through the cracks at the 2004 draft, only to make the last five Pro Bowls and garner All-Pro nods in four of the last five seasons with Buffalo and Philadelphia. Tackles are routinely drafted in the top 10 every year. This year we could see two in USC’s Matt Kalil and Iowa’s Riley Reiff."
  20. [/url] Yeah, the kid's highlight package was pretty interesting (he seems to have good movement skills--albeit against the New Mexico's and UNLVs of the world). Then again, so was (edit: Here's the guy I'd like to see us remember for the Round 2 pick--he won't last to the 3rd after his combine performance)
  21. Nope. I was referring to the hair.
  22. The good news is that Murph apparently wouldn't be a 'GR employee, so Entercom's consultant-driven "generic sports talk radio" playbook wouldn't apply. Hallelujah...
  23. I had Hamilton going in round 7A to the Ravens...
